A Fundamental Study on Effective Width Evaluation of Laminated Composite Box Girder (복합적층 박스거더의 유효폭 산정을 위한 기초연구)

  • The domestic and foreign specifications presented the effective width based on flange length to width ratio only. The existing paper on the effective width grasped of the effect of span, load type and cross-section properties, but localized steel bridges. Recently, The studies are going on in progress for the application of fiber reinforced composite material in construction field. Therefore, it is required to optimum design that have a good grasp the deformation characteristic of the displacements and stresses distribution and predict variation of the effective width for serviceability loading. This research addresses the effective width of all composite material box girder bridges using the finite element method. The characteristics of the effective width of composite structures may vary according to several causes, e.g., change of fibers, aspect, etc. Parametric studies were conducted to determine the effective width on the stress elastic analysis of all composite materials box bridges, with interesting observations. The various results through numerical analysis will present an important document for construct all composite material bridges.

A study on the improvement of the air exhaust system at the PSD installed subway station (도시철도 지하역사 PSD 설치에 따른 배기시스템 개선 연구)

  • Platform screen door (PSD) installed at underground subway station has reduced the safety accident, but it may cause poor air ventilation condition due to the isolated exhaust duct in the subway tunnel area. In this study, the additional ventilation system was suggested, which can be installed at a void space (i.e., storage room under stairs) of platform in order to improve efficiency of air ventilation rate. Exhausted air from platform was directed to underneath of platform and joined with existing ventilation duct of train exhaust system (TES). One subway station in Seoul city was selected to predict the effectiveness of the suggested lower exhaust system by using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The predicted mean age of air was decreased by 16.5% which proves the improvement of air ventilation efficiency when the suggested lower exhaust system was applied.

  • The wheel-rail interaction forces are influenced by the velocity of vehicle, wheel load, alignment (curve radius, cant etc). For the safety of track structure, it is required to evaluate the influences for track and influential factors. Recently, the HEMU 430-X, which was developed by Next Generation High-Speed Rail Development R&D Project, achieved 421.4km/h in a test run of Daegu.Busan section of the Gyeongbu high speed rail on March in 2013. In the case of additional speed-up test on Test-Bed Section(Gongju.Jeongeup: KP 100~128km Osong starting point), the analysis of track forces is required for outer rail by the increase of dynamic force and centrifugal force of vehicle. In this paper, the vehicle speed variation on HSL line is evaluated by TPS analysis considering the tractive effort of HEMU 430-X, tested running resistance and alignment of Honam HSR. And the track forces are evaluated by centrifugal force and impact factor on curved track.

Numerical Simulation of Dynamic Soil-pile Interaction for Dry Condition Observed in Centrifuge Test (원심모형실험에서 관측된 건조 지반-말뚝 동적 상호작용의 수치 모델링)

  • Numerical simulation of dynamic soil-pile-structure interaction embedded in a dry sand was carried out. 3D model of the dynamic centrifuge model tests was formulated in a time domain to consider nonlinear behavior of soil using the finite difference method program, FLAC3D. As a modeling methodology, Mohr-Coulomb criteria was adopted as soil constitutive model. Soil nonlinearity was considered by adopting the hysteretic damping model, and an interface model which can simulate separation and slip between soil and pile was adopted. Simplified continuum modeling (Kim et al., 2012) was used as boundary condition to reduce analysis time. Calibration process for numerical modeling results and test results was performed through the parametric study. Verification process was then performed by comparing numerical modeling results with another test results. Based on the calibration and validation procedure, it is identified that proposed modeling method can properly simulate dynamic behavior of soil-pile system in dry condition.

  • This study researched relationship between R&D capability(TC), Network capability(NC), International marketing activity(IMA) and effect to performance of Korean globalizing INNOBIZs. In former research, they found out that TC, NC, IMA effect to performance directly. But they didn't focus on the relationship between the variables and Korean INNOBIZs. Recently, Global environment of competition is getting more and more complicated. So even the companies develop the excellent product, the companies can not get superior performance than competitor as long as the company combine with IMA or NC. In this study, empirical analysis performed using covariance structural analysis for Korean INNOBIZs. As we know in former research, TC and IMA have a positive effect on performance directly. But NC does not have a direct effect on performance. Also we found out TC and NC intermediated by MC have positive effect on performance. This result is theoretically and practically suggestive that using the company developed NC in International IMA effect on Performance.

  • In this study, it has been proposed the new type of temporary bridge which is structural performance maximization to integrated cover plate and girder as well as roll of lining board. Of all temporary bridge integrated cover plate and main girder in the form of a new type of structure is advantageous for the judge, but to the field of transport difficulties and challenges due to high altitude operations to take advantage of this challenge and deliver a structured, easy transport, and the synthesis of lining board possible was proposed. Lining board proposed in this study through experimental synthesis and analysis of the factors that influence the effectiveness of the construction and economic development in the construction method was superior, compared to the conventional lining board.

  • Recently the construction of stations under railway lines and railway sections passing through central area of cities are increasing, calling for an urgent establishment of countermeasures against railway vibration and its subsequent second-phase noise. Of technology developed up to now, the most efficient countermeasure is the floating slab track, a track system isolated from the sub-structure by springs. Unfortunately, however, the system design technology and technology for key components have not yet developed in Korea. As such, in this study, the analysis and design technology of floating slab track and its vibration isolator technology can be achieved. In preparation for future demands, it is expected to raise awareness for the need of technology self-support and to make a meaningful contribution to mitigating vibration and noise produced by the next-generation high-speed railway.

Technical Trends and Patent Analysis for Reaming Bits (확공비트의 기술동향 및 특허분석)

  • We analyzed the patent trends for whole drilling bits to reveal the main R&D directions, focusing on patents applied for and registered in Korea, the USA, Japan, and Europe. The technology was classified into two groups as a primary classification step (reaming systems and fixed systems), and into seven groups as a secondary classification step (sliding, odex, horizontal pivot, vertical pivot, concentric, eccentric, and etc.). A total of 33,614 patents were retrieved and 870 patents were selected for final effective analysis by data deduplication and filtering. A portfolio analysis using the correlation between the number of patents and the applicants for each patents revealed a sliding system as the key technology with greatest growth potential. From an analysis of the barriers to patents being granted, we emphasize the need to avoid similar topics existing patents or patent applications and to develop differential technology.

  • Very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) behavior of aerospace components has emerged much attention due to their long service life. In this study, a piezoelectric ultrasonic fatigue testing (UFT) system has been developed by Mbrosiatec Co., Ltd. to study the high cycle fatigue (HCF) strength of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Hourglass-shaped specimens have been investigated in the range from $10^6$ to $10^9$ cycles at room temperature under completely reversed R = -1 loading conditions,. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis revealed that failures occurred in the entire range up to the gigacycle regime, and the fractures have beenfound to be initiated from the surface, unlike in steels. However, it was found from the SEM microgprahs that microcracks transformed into intergranular fractures. Thus, it can be concluded from according to the results that this test method can be applicable to commercialized automotive and railroad parts that require high cycle fatigue strength.

  • The domestic railway parts and equipment manufacturing industry is mainly focused on SMEs, and the majority of them are suffering from profitability because they cannot build economies of scale. Besides, they have survived in the form of importing technology products from overseas advanced countries and delivering them to domestic railway operators rather than having in-house technology. Therefore it is necessary to study whether the problems of the current railway industry can be identified and improved and at the same time, whether the government's railway industry development policy is properly reflected. literature studies related to technology commercialization, and conduct surveys of AHP questionnaires on the experts of the manufacturing industry of SMEs, academics / research institutes of the railway industry. After that, the Level 3 activation method AHP analysis was additionally performed on the important factors of Level 2 that have the highest importance and priority in Level 1. As a result of the AHP analysis, 'Technical Connectivity' was the most important method in the technical factor, and SME experts and academic and research institute experts were highly evaluated for 'commercialization ability' Competence in terms of importance. As for external support factors, it was analyzed that SME experts "support for manpower development" was important, while the other two group experts research and development support was important. In this study, the priority of the government support and policy priorities are suggested according to the capabilities of the railway manufacturing SMEs before the future R&D support.
