  • A digital seismic data acquisition and processing system using a PC has been developed in order to replace the analog data acquisition system of shallow marine seismic survey. An A/D converter that has 12bits of resolution and 225KHz of conversion rate was ued to acquire data, and a data acquisition software was developed as a Windows program which provides convenience of use. Raw data acquired at field has been saved to the hard-disk simultaneously. The signal to noise ratio, vertical and horizontal resolution could be improved by a digital data processing of the raw data. The digital processing of the raw data includss gain recovery, filtering, deconvolution, and muting. With the prediction deconvolution algorithm multiple reflections appearing on the shallow marine seismic section could be removed successfully.

  • A resistance deviation-to-time interval converter based on dual-slope integration using second generation current conveyors (CCIIs) is designed for connecting resistive bridge sensors with a digital system. It consists of a differential integrator using CCIIs, a voltage comparator, and a digital control logic for controlling four analog switches. Experimental results exhibit that a conversion sensitivity amounts to $15.56{\mu}s/{\Omega}$ over the resistance deviation range of $0-200{\Omega}$ and its linearity error is less than ${\pm}0.02%$. Its temperature stability is less than $220ppm/^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of $-25-85^{\circ}C$. Power dissipation of the converter is 60.2 mW.

  • There is much interest on information communications owing to the rapid development of network and IT(Information Technology). Analog signals are converted into digital signals for information communications. However, it is very difficult to completely erase the distortion induced during the conversion of analog signals such as voices and images into digital signals. Existing audio graphic equalizer requires very complex processes to calculate the gain and coefficients of the higher-order filter which is required to generate natural sound and to satisfy the need of each person. Unfortunately it is uneconomical and very difficult to embed the existing digital audio equalizer in the system because of the complexity of the existing digital audio equalizer for high quality sound. This paper discusses the design of a new digital audio graphic equalizer(DAGEQ) which can improve system performance and the quality of audio sound, and can be embedded in the system. This new DAGEQ is designed so that the gain can be controlled automatically. The automatic control of coefficients and gain empowers real time processing and the improvement of audio quality.

  • In this paper, a low power current mode 12-bit ADC(: Analog to Digital Converter) is proposed to mix digital circuits and analog circuits with the advantages of low power consumption and high speed operation. The proposed 12 bit ADC is implemented by using 4-bit ADC in a cascade structure, so its power consumption can be reduced, and the chip area can be reduced by using a conversion current mirror circuit. The proposed 12-bit ADC is SK Hynix 350nm process, and post-layout simulation is performed using Cadence MMSIM. It operates at a supply voltage of 3.3V and the area of the proposed circuit is 318㎛ x 514㎛. In addition, the ADC shows the possibility of operating with low power consumption of 3.4mW average power consumption in this paper.

  • There are various networks and communication methods are used in industrial communication. Enterprises need to convert communications between industrial devices and networks for production line expansion, factory upgrades, network segmentation, and SI. This requires designers manufactured by many manufacturers to provide communication equipment for data or protocol conversion in order to connect and transmit various other mechanical devices to the network. This paper designed industrial communication gateway that can support the transformation of industrial communication protocol using multi-layered communication module. Industrial communication gateways have a structure that connects individual communication modules using RS485 communication to multiple layers. Each communication module consisted of analog and digital data card, LAN, and CAN-enabled card. The main board processor used Atmega micro-processor, and the RS485 slot was placed to have a multi-layer communication module structure. These additive layer type communication modules support analog and digital I/O functions and LAN and CAN for wide use in industrial communication control and monitoring.

  • A time-interpolation technique has been applied to the conventional FLASH analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to increase a number of quantization level, thus it reduces not only a power dissipation, but also minimize an active chip area. In this work, we demonstrated 5-bit ADC which has 31 quantization levels consisting of 16 conventional voltage-mode comparators and 15 time-mode comparators. As a result, we have achieved about 48.4% voltage-mode comparator reductions. The ADC is fabricated in a 14nm fin Field-effect transistor (FinFET) process with an active die area of 0.0024 mm2 while consuming 0.82 mW through a 0.8 V supply. At 400-MS/s conversion rate, the ADC performs 28.03 dB SNDR (4.36 ENOB) at 21MHz input frequency.

  • To converter time information to digital information Time-to-Digital Converter(TDC) is designed by using analog delay elements. To obtain the temperature stable characteristics the circuit is designed and the operation of the designed circuit is confirmed by HSPICE. The characteristics variation of the designed delay element with temperature is from -0.18% to 0.126% compared to room temperature characteristics when the temperature is varied from $-20^{\circ}C$ tp $70^{\circ}C$. Time difference is from -0.18% to 0.12% compared to room temperature characteristic when the temperature is varied from $-20^{\circ}C$ tp $70^{\circ}C$. The time difference is simulated when the digital output is 15. However the time difference is from -1.09% to 1.28% in the TDC using temperature non-stable analog delay elements.

  • A new bioelectric impedance measurement method is proposed for the precise measurement of the bioelectric impedance. To obtain the impedance from the known applied a.c. current and the measured voltage signals, a frequency conversion circuit, like the mixer in heterodyne receivers, is introduced to reduce the frequency of the original current. It can be observed from several lines of derivation that the impedance is independent on the amplitude and phase of the mixing signals. This makes it possible to use low-speed analog-to-digital converters and thus utilize cheaper electronic parts in the implementation. The possibility of the method is shown by simulations, and a generic structure applicable to bioelectric impedance measurement devices is also proposed.

  • The present paper designed a weight measuring instrumentation system in which data conversion and a series of signal processing were totally equipped. 16 loadcell are incoming sensors and each output of the loadcell was amplified and filtered for proper analog signal processing. Several measuring instrumentation OP amps and general purposed OP amps were used. 12 bits AID converters converted analog signals to digital bits and a PIC microprocessor controlled the 16 channels of loadcell. RF RS232 modules were used for wireless communication between the PIC microprocessor and an ethernet host for a remote sensor monitoring system development.
