  • Power allocation is a technique that evenly allocates samples for each stratum, although the overall efficiency of the allocation is less than that of optimal allocation, and it is often used as a square root proportional allocation in real survey. Also, considering the non-response that occurs in real survey, a larger sample size is used than that in the theoretical formula. In this study, in determining the sample size for each stratum, we study the new methods of allocating by adding information on the response rate per each stratum to power allocation method. The proposed allocation methods are compare with proportional, optimal, and square root proportional allocation in simulation. In addition, the comparison with the proportional and optimal allocation to which the response rate was added is examined through simulation. As a result, we examine the advantages and disadvantages of the allocation methods.

  • In this research, tool allocation methods are studied in conjunction with loading and muting in FMSs. The objective function is to minimize production time while maximizing machine utilization of the FMS with several constraints. The proposed method has 2 steps. The first step is to determine tool allocation type with the proposed tool allocation method. The second step is to design loading models with routing. The effectiveness of the proposed FMS operation procedure is shown through numerical examples.

  • This paper describes the effect of the train ticket allocation methods. Two types of the allocation method, 'proportional to the distance between two stations' and proportional to ticket-demand', are compared. From the result of calculation, the letter case shows better characteristics than the former case especially on the scat occupation ratio and the regional equality or allocation.

  • This paper addresses the analysis of the travel distance and the number of storage location for storage location allocation methods in a warehouse system. The dedicated, randomized, combined and limited storage methods are considered. The combined and the limited storage methods are suggested here, which the combined storage method is to divide the storage locations into the dedicated storage area and the randomized storage area, and the limited storage method is to restrict the storage area of each product. Through a numerical example, the average travel distance between input/output point and the storage locations, and the number of storage location needed in the warehouse are compared between storage location allocation methods. The nearest randomized storage method is shown as the reasonable one in the travel distance and the number of storage location.

  • Hospital architectures, as a function-oriented architecture, have a great influences on the functional program and spacial allocation for a great number of rooms and departments. Particularly, spacial allocating analysis is depends on various external forces, such as hospital-size, relationships for the others, ownerships, operating methods, long-term masterplan as well as researchers' methods. Furthermore, as there is focusing on architectural design basis rather than architectural planning In recent Korean architectural field, adequate analysing methodology of spacial allocation for the design process is needed. This paper analyzes architectural drawings for 8 Korean hospitals which constructed in recent 20 years in aspects of the spacial allocation for inner spaces and then, presents areal composition and pattern of spacial allocation for researching hospitals.

  • In this paper, we study the efficiency of the stratified estimator in related with the variance lower bound of Horvitz-Thompson estimator subject to the superpopulation model. Especially, we compare the variance lower bound of optimum allocation with that of power allocation subject to Dalenius-Hedges stratification.

  • In this study, we investigate the effects of the methods of time allocation in lecturing on the mathematical academic achievement of freshmen in institute of technologies. The subjects are 392 freshmen from three universities participated in ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea). They belong to three groups in accordance with the methods of time allocation in lecturing; 75 minutes twice a week(79 students) and 150 minutes continuously once a week(77 students) (university 1 of 156 students), 100 minutes twice a week(56 students) and 200 minutes continuously once a week(60 students) (university 2 of 116 students) and 50 minutes and 100 minutes separately once a week(62 students) and 150 minutes continuously once a week(58 students) (university 3 of 120 students). The results of this paper are summarized as follows: Firstly, the achievement of separate time-allocation groups is higher than that of continuous time-allocation groups. Secondly, the achievement of middle class students and low class students has higher effects when they are taught by using the methods of separate time-allocation in lecturing. Finally, the achievement of groups using 75 minutes twice a week is higher than that of using 50 minutes and 100 minutes separately once a week. In conclusion, this study suggests that the method of separate time allocation in lecturing using 75 minutes twice a week could be an advisable means to help those who achieve middle and low scores in the first college mathematics.

  • The use of pooled standard deviation can reduce the efficiency loss in optimum allocation when strata standard deviations are estimated and several of them are equal. Also shown is that the pooled standard deviation is useful in optimum allocation under a multivariate setting. In addition to theoretical development, we provide the result of simulation study to support the theory.

  • In this paper, the transmit power minimization for Poisson distributed wireless ad-hoc relay networks in Rayleigh fading channels is considered. We investigate two power allocation methods one is a minimum power allocation (MPA) strategy and the other is an equal outage power allocation (EOPA) strategy. We analyze the total transmit power of two allocation methods under the given end-to-end outage probability constraint. Our results show that the MPA achieves more power saving than EOPA, and the power saving is more significant as the number of relay nodes increases.
