일상 생활용수 내 Zn-Al-Mg계 합금도금강재의 부식거동 (Corrosion Behavior of Zn-Al-Mg Alloy Coated Steel Exposed to Residential Water)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate corrosion resistance of Zn-Al-Mg alloy coated steel in residential water with trace quantities of Cl-. Comparative evaluations were performed using two commercial coated steel products, GI and Galvalume, as reference samples. Examination of corrosion morphology and measurement of weight loss revealed that the Zn-Al-Mg alloy coated steel exhibited higher corrosion resistance than reference samples. This finding suggests that the alloy coated steel possesses long-term corrosion resistance not only in highly Cl- concentrated environments such as seawater, but also in environments with extremely low levels of Cl- found in residential water. The primary factor contributing to the superior corrosion resistance of the Zn-Al-Mg alloy coated steel in residential water is the formation of an inhibiting corrosion product composed primarily of two phases: Zn5(OH)6(CO3)2 and Zn5(OH)8Cl2·H2O. The preferential dissolution of Mg from the corroded coating layer can increase alkalinity, which might enhance the thermodynamical stability of Zn5(OH)6(CO3)2.

  • 섬유 금속 적층판(Fiber metal hybrid laminate, FML)은 금속재료와 FRP의 접합으로 기존의 금속 소재가 가지지 못했던 뛰어난 물성과 가벼운 무게로 경제적인 구조용 재료로 사용된다. 그러나 섬유의 형태와 종류, 적층조건에 따라 물성의 차이가 크며, 파괴거동을 예측하기 어렵다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 Al6061-T6 합금에 직조형태의 유리섬유 플라스틱(GFRP, GEP118)을 적층피막한 복합재의 파손거동에 대해 연구한다. Al합금에 GFRP 1, 3, 5 겹을 피막한 3가지 조건으로 성형하고, 피막의 적층수를 변수로 정적시험과 저주기 피로시험을 병행하여 파손거동을 분석하였다. 저주기 피로시험에서는 변형률-수명 해석, 전변형률 에너지밀도법을 사용하여 분석하고, 피로수명을 예측하여 하이브리드 재료에 대한 수명예측성을 분석하였다. 인장해석 결과, GFRP 피막으로 인한 강화효과는 없었고, 피로시험시 나타나는 히스테리시스 형상은 GFRP피막 유무와 피막 수에 상관없이 모재인 Al합금의 거동을 따랐다. 저주기 피로시험 결과 GFRP의 피막으로 피로강도가 증가하였지만, GFRP의 두께에 따라 비례하여 증가하지는 않았다.

분위기에서 Al-Mg합금의 SiO2에 대한 젖음실험의 타당성 고찰 (Validity of the Sessile Drop Test of the Molten Al-Mg Alloys on SiO2 under Various Atmospheres)

  • The effects that processing atmospheres and alloy composition have on the wetting characteristics of Al-Mg alloys on the $SiO_{2}$ substrate were investigated by measuring the wetting angles. It was observed that the wetting behavior of the Al-Mg alloys on the $SiO_{2}$ substrate vary depending on the Mg content of the alloys and atmospheres. The results showed that the contact angle decreases with increasing Mg content, angle is generally larger in the $N_{2}$ atmosphere than in the Ar atmosphere. We discussed the validity of the results obtained from the wetting test on the basis of recent theories and the results observed from the actual penetration tests.

Mg-Al 합금에서 불연속 석출물의 부피 분율에 의한 경도 및 열전도도의 변화 (Changes in Hardness and Thermal Conductivity with Volume Fraction of Discontinuous Precipitates in Mg-Al Alloy)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the dependence of the hardness and thermal conductivity on the volume fraction of discontinuous precipitates (DPs) in the Mg-9.3%Al alloy with (α-(Mg)+DPs) dual phase structure. In order to obtain various DPs volume fractions, the alloy was solution-treated at 688 K for 24 h and then aged at 418 K for up to 144 h. The volume fraction of DPs increased from 0% to 63% with an increase in the aging time up to 72 h, over which, continuous precipitation was observed within the α-(Mg) grains. It is noticeable that the hardness and thermal conductivity of the alloy increased linearly with the volume fraction of DPs. The improved hardness and thermal conductivity with respect to volume fraction of DPs are closely associated with the higher hardness of the DPs with fine (α+β) lamellar structure and the lower Al concentration in the α phase layer of the DPs, respectively.

  • This work was intended to investigate the effects of Zn content on microstructure and hardness of discontinuous precipitates (DPs) produced by continuous cooling (CC) in Mg-8%Al-X%Zn alloys with 0%, 0.5% and 1% of Zn contents (wt%). The DPs in the alloys possessed a wide range of (α+β) interlamellar spacings, which is attributed to the different transformation temperatures during CC. The higher Zn content resulted in the lower level of interlamellar spacings of the DPs, along with thinner and larger volume fraction of β phase layer in the DPs. It is noted that the DPs in the alloy with higher Zn content exhibited higher hardness, and that the ratio of increase in hardness of the DPs to that of the as-cast state was also increased with increasing Zn content. The reason was discussed on the basis of microstructural differences of the DPs in the Mg-8%Al-X%Zn alloys.

알루미늄 합금과 아연도금강판의 이종 겹치기 마찰교반접합에서 기계적성질에 미치는 Tool Geometry의 영향 (The Effect of Tool Geometry on the Mechanical Properties in a Friction Stir Welded Lap Joint between an Al Alloy and Zn-coated Steel)

  • The specific motivation for joining an Al alloy and Zn-coated steel arises from the need to save fuel consumption by weight reduction and to enhance the durability of vehicle structures in the automobile industry. In this study, the lap joining A6K31 Al alloy (top) and SGARC340 Zn-coated steel (bottom) sheets with a thickness of 1.0 mm and 0.8 mm, respectively, was carried out using the friction stir weld (FSW) technique. The probe of a tool did not contact the surface of the lower Zn-coated steel sheet. The friction stir welding was carried out at rotation speeds of 1500 rpm and travel speeds of 80~200 mm/min. The effects of tool geometry and welding speed on the mechanical properties and the structure of a joint were investigated. The tensile properties for the joints welded with a larger tool were better than those for the joints done with a smaller tool. A good correlation between the tensile load and area of the welded region were observed. The bond strength using a larger tool (M4 and M3) decreased with an increase in welding speed. Most fractures occurred along the interface between the Zn-coated steel and the Al alloy. However, in certain conditions with a lower welding speed, fractures occurred at the A6K31 Al alloy.

Mg-Al 합금에서 등온 시효 중 경도 변화의 미세조직 의존성 (Dependence of Hardness Change on Microstructure during Isothermal Aging in Mg-Al Alloy)

  • This study is intended to clarify the main microstructural factors that contribute to an increase of hardness during isothermal aging in Mg-Al alloy. For this work, Mg-9.3%Al alloy specimens were solution-treated at 688 K for 24 h followed by water quenching, and then aged at 473 K for up to 24 h. The aging at 473 K yielded nodular discontinuous precipitates (DPs) with (${\alpha}+{\beta}$) lamellar morphology at the grain boundaries, and the volume fraction of DPs increased from 0% to ~30% with increasing aging time up to 12 h. For the aging times longer than 12 h, further formation of DPs was substantially inhibited owing to the occurrence of significant continuous precipitation within the ${\alpha}-(Mg)$ matrix, and the density of continuous precipitates (CPs) becomes greater with increasing aging time. Hardness of the specimen was steadily increased with aging time up to 24 h. Microstructural examination on the aged specimens revealed that the increased overall hardness at the early stage of aging is associated with the increased volume fraction of DPs, but at the later stage of aging, where the amount of DPs was hardly changed, the increased hardness of the ${\alpha}-(Mg)$ matrix in response to the higher density of CPs within the matrix, plays a key role in increasing the overall hardness value.

SLM 공정 기법으로 제작한 AlSi10Mg 인장특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Tensile Properties of AlSi10Mg produced by Selective Laser Melting)

  • 선택적 레이저 용융 (Selective Laser Melting) 기법은 금속 소재를 다루는 대표적인 3D 프린팅 기법중의 하나이다. SLM 기법으로 제작되는 구조물의 특성을 좌우하는 주요 제작 인자로는 구조물의 적층 제작 방향, 레이저 파워, 레이저 스캔 스피드 및 스캔 간격 등을 고려할 수 있다. 이번 연구에서는 AlSi10Mg 합금을 대상 소재로 하여, 인장 시편의 제작 방향, 레이저 스캔 스피드 및 스캔 간격을 변수로 하여, 인장특성 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 인장특성으로는 항복 응력, 인장강도 및 연신율을 고려하였다. 시험결과로부터, 인장 시편의 제작 방향 기준으로 0도, 45도, 90도 순서로 항복 응력 값이 낮아짐을 확인하였다. 레이저 스캔 스피드 기준으로는 1870mm/min에서 가장 큰 항복 응력값을 보였으며, 스캔 스피드가 낮아질수록 항복 응력 크기도 줄어들었다. 레이저 스캔 간격 기준으로, 그 크기가 증가할수록 항복 응력값은 증가하지만, 다른 시험 기준에 비해 그 변화폭은 가장 적었다. 인장강도 및 연신율은 시험조건에 따른 명확한 경향성을 파악하기 어려웠다.

알루미늄 합금 (Al6005-T6)의 마찰교반접합 시 공구의 회전속도와 접합 특성의 상관관계 연구 (Relationship Between Tool Rotating Speed and Properties of Friction Stir Welded Al 6005-T6)

  • 마찰교반용접법(Friction Stir Welding, FSW)은 1991년에 영국 용접연구소 TWI(The Welding Institute)에서 최초 개발된 후 여러 산업분야에 걸쳐 적용연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 철도차량 차체의 주요 구성 소재인 알루미늄 합금 (Al-6005-T6) 평판 압출재에 대한 마찰교반접합 적용 기초연구를 수행하였다. 접합속도를 500 mm/min으로 고정한 채 회전공구의 회전속도를 600-1600 rpm으로 변화될 때 미세구조와 기계적 물성 변화에 미치는 영향에 대해 평가하였다. 경도 측정 결과 nugget부는 모재의 70% 수준의 경도값을 가지며 설정된 범위 내의 공구 회전속도와 연관성은 관찰되지 않았으며 용접계면에서 약 5 mm 벗어나게 되면 모재의 경도값을 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 인장시험 결과 회전속도가 올라갈수록 항복강도와 인장강도가 소폭 하락하는 경향을 보였으며 연신률의 변화는 관찰되지 않았다.

알루미늄 6061 합금 양극산화 후 열처리에 따른 표면 특성 관찰 (Effects of Heat Treatment on Surface Properties of Aluminum 6061 Alloy After Anodization)

  • Anodization is a representative electrochemical surface treatment method that can improve both heat resistance and corrosion resistance by forming an anodization film on the surface of the aluminum. However, these properties can be changed after an additional heat treatment process. In this study, Al 6061 was subjected to an anodization process at 60 V for 1 hour, 5 hours, or 9 hours. An additional heat treatment process was performed at 500 ℃ for 30 minutes. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis revealed that the thickness of the anodized film was increased in proportion to the anodization time. Both pore size and pore diameter of the anodized film was also increased after anodization. After an additional heat treatment process, there were no significant changes in the thickness, pore size, or pore diameter of the anodized film. Heat resistance was confirmed through thermal analysis and chemical resistance was evaluated with a potentiodynamic polarization test.
