Air mattress is now used widely to prevent the pressure ulcer by reducing the localized pressure peaks. The pressure control method based on the anthrophometric model of an air-cell mattress developed in this study is presented. The air-cell mattress has 18 cylindrical air cells made of porous material allowing air leakage. Even though the air leakage can contribute to reducing the development of pressure ulcer by lowering the pressure peak, temperature and humidity, the air pressure changes with time and the desired air-cell pressure has to be determined as an optimal value for each user. To select the desired air-cell pressure, we first divide the parts of the body into four sections such as head, trunk, hip, and leg. Then, the pressure of each section grouped with air-cells is calculated from the weight of each part estimated from the individual height and body weight. Air supply system for the air-cell mattress is implemented by using four electronic solenoid valves and an air compressor, and it is driven by a real-time microcontroller. We experimented with five subjects of the contact pressure on skin. The experimental results show that the proposed air-cell mattress is effective for the prevention of the pressure ulcer.
Several air cells are installed in the seat cushion to adjust the stiffness of seat by changing the air pressure. To select proper air pressure in the air cells, two kinds of tests are performed. For the pressure distribution on the seat, the maximum pressure and mean pressure are compared. And for the dynamic ride values, SEAT (Seat Effective Amplitude Transmissibility) values are calculated and compared. These experiments are carried out with three different drivers, three different vehicle speeds on the highway and two different speed on the primary road, and three different air pressures. From the real car tests, optimum air cell pressure depending on the vehicle speed and driver's weight are recommended.
Air mattress is now used widely to prevent the pressure ulcer by reducing the localized pressure peaks. In this paper an air-cell mattress and its pressure control method based on an approximate anthropometric model are presented. The air-cell mattress has eighteen cylindrical air cells made of porous material allowing air leakage to contribute in reducing the development of pressure ulcer by lowering the pressure peak, temperature and humidity. To determine an optimal air-cell pressure appropriate for each user, we divide the parts of the body into four sections such as head, trunk, hip, and leg. Then, the pressure of each section is independently calculated from the weight of each part based on the individual body height and weight and the approximate anthropometric model. Air supply system for the air-cell mattress is implemented by using four electronic solenoid valves and an air compressor, and it is driven by a real-time micro-controller. The experimental results with seven subjects shows that the proposed air-cell mattress is effective for the prevention of the pressure ulcer.

This study was conducted to provide fundamental data for design of air inflating apparatus of air-inflated double-layer plastic greenhouse. The variation of static pressure in air tube for different fans and filters, filtering performance for various kinds of filters and destruction phase of experimental greenhouse collapsed by excessive static pressure in air space were analyzed. The general type of forward centrifugal fan was recommended for inflating air space in air-inflated double-layer plastic greenhouse. The experimental greenhouse was collapsed down by excessive static pressure just like fallen by heavy snow load acting on it. The static pressure in air tube without filter decreased linearly as the number of outlet openings increased. But the pressure in air tube with filter declined quadratically, the decremental ratio diminished by the increase of outlet openings. The higher filtering efficiency and the greater decrements of static pressure in air tube, the larger capacity fan was required for maintaining proper static pressure in air space. Because the porosities of filter were blocked by dust as time goes by, the static pressure in air tube with filter decreased. The higher filtering efficiency, the less decremental ratio of static pressure in air tube as time passes by. Considering the filtering efficiency, decrement of static pressure and thickness of filter, the 5mm thickness filter of 75% efficiency was recommended for air inflating filter of air-inflated double-layer plastic greenhouse.
The purpose of the study was to examine a method most pertinent to measure subglottic air pressure. Subglottic air pressure and loudness analyses were performed on vowels /a/, /i/ and consonant /p/ in 12 normal subjects using. Aerophone II voice function. The experimental contexts were, therefore, /i:pi:pi:/ and /a:pa:pa:/. The subjects produced the intervocalic /p/ in 4 different situations: 1) /i:pi:pi:/ with voiceless /p/, 2) /i:pi:pi:/ with voiced /p/, 3) /a:pa:pa:/ with voiceless /p/, and 4) /a:pa:pa:/ with voiced /p/. A t-test and a correlation analysis revealed the following results. First, when we measured subglottic air pressure by /i:pi:pi:/, voiceless /p/ was significantly different from voiced /p/. Second, when we measured subglottic air pressure by /a:pa:pa:/, voiceless /p/ was significantly different from voiced /p/. Therefore, it was concluded that voiceless /p/ produced more accurate subglottic air pressure and clinicians needed to have patients produce accurate /p/ when measuring subglottic air pressure using Aerophone II.
On purpose of relative comparison of between air-vent attached pattern and non attached one, casting tests were accomplished by castability analysis unrig wax screen mesh pattern. Experimental specimens are divided Into 4groups. 1) Air-vent attached pattern with high casting pressure(coil spring type centrifugal casting machine 2.5turn). 2) Air-vent attached pattern with low casting pressure(coil spring type centrifugal casting machine 1.5turn). 3) Air vent non attached pattern with high casting pressure(coil spring type centrifugal casting machine 2.5turn). 4) Air-vent non attached pattern with low casting pressure(coil spring type centrifrgal casting machine 1.5turn). The main results are as follows : 1) The condition of high casting pressure no.1, no.3 were showed perfect castability. 2) The condition of low-casting pressure, there is a wide difference between no.2, no.4 group. Castability of no.2 group preferable to no.4 group(p<0.001). 3) Low casting pressure and complex shape cause the low-castability. So it is recommanded that use of air-vent in case of complex shaped wax pattern with low easting pressure.
In this study, nano-sized tin oxide powder with an average particle size of below 50 nm is prepared by the spray pyrolysis process. The influence of air pressure on the properties of the generated powder is examined. Along with the rise of air pressure from $0.1kg/cm^2$ to $3kg/cm^2$, the average size of the droplet-shaped particles decreases, while the particle size distribution becomes more regular. When the air pressure increases from $0.1kg/cm^2$ to $1kg/cm^2$, the average size of the dropletshaped particles, which is around 30-50 nm, shows hardly any change. When the air pressure increases up to $3kg/cm^2$, the average size of the droplet-shaped particles decreases to 30 nm. For the independent generated particles, when the air pressure is at $0.1kg/cm^2$, the average particle size is approximately 100 nm; when the air pressure increases up to $0.5kg/m^2$, the average particle size becomes more than 100 nm, and the surface structure becomes more compact; when the air pressure increases up to $1kg/cm^2$, the surface structure is almost the same as in the case of $0.5kg/cm^2$, and the average particle size is around 80- 100 nm; when the air pressure increases up to $3kg/cm^2$, the surface structure becomes incompact compared to the cases of other air pressures, and the average particle size is around 80-100 nm. Along with the rise of air pressure from $0.1kg/cm^2$ to $0.5kg/cm^2$, the XRD peak intensity slightly decreases, and the specific surface area increases. When the air pressure increases up to $1kg/cm^2$ and $3kg/cm^2$, the XRD peak intensity increases, while the specific surface area also increases.

Air handling unit (AHU)'s air filter pressure difference is important for energy consumption and indoor air quality. Both energy Performance data and air filter differential pressure of AHU in real office buildings were monitored and analyzed to investigate quantitatively energy impact as dust buildup level on air filter grows. We also modeled and simulated CAV system using HVACSIM+ program to examine the energy effect of dust buildup on filters. Through analysis of time series pressure drop data, the filter pressure difference rate has been increased due to cumulative supply air flow rate increase. As filter pressure drop increased to 1 inch water column, it is found that the supply air flow rate was decreased by 10%, the chilled water flow rate was increased by 5.9% and the pump energy consumption was increased to 5.9%.

This study reports the analysis of the pressure drop characteristics for the air-particle flow in powder transport piping system. The pressure drop characteristics of air-particle flow in piping system is not well understood due to the complexity of particles motion mechanism. Particles or powders suspended in air flow cause the increase of the pressure drop and affect directly the transportation efficiency. In this study, the pressure drop in powder transport piping system with straight and curved pipes is analyzed for the interactions of air flow and particle motion. The total pressure drop increases with increasing of the pipe length, the mixture ratio, and the friction factor of particles due to the increasing friction loss by air and particles in a coal piping system. For the coal powders of $74{\mu}m$ size and powder-to-air mass mixture ratio of 0.667, the total pressure drop by the consideration of powders and air flow is $30\%$ higher than that of air flow only.
