  • Electronic equipments and make other electronic systems to operate abnormally by means of electromagnetic interference, or can operate abnormally themselves by electromagnetic interference of other electronic systems. Therefore, electronic equipments are required to reduce their electromagnetic interference as small as for other systems to operate properly and operate properly within electromagnetic interference from other electronic systems. In order to prove that electronic equipments meet such requirements, they should undergo electromagnetic environmental test. In this study, we introduce electromagnetic environmental requirements, test procedures and test results of gimbal engine actuation system of KSR-III.

  • Purpose: The conventional predicted MFTBF by military standard has a wide discrepancy to that of real-world operation, which leads to overstock and increase operation cost. This paper introduces a analyzing frame using operational reliability and cost data to overcome the discrepancy, and provides reliability improvement process employing the analyzing frame. Methods: This paper suggests Reliability-Cost Matrix (R-C Matrix) and Operational Reliability & Cost Index (ORCI) as a tool for reliability evaluation. Results: KOREIP(KAI's Operational Reliability Evaluation and Improvement Process) is developed employing Reliability-Cost Matrix and Operational Reliability & Cost Index. Conclusion: KOREIP provides a process and its activities based on Reliability-Cost Matrix frame. The process and activities leads reliability improvement of aerospace electronic equipments by means of categorizing and follow-up action based on the concept of frame.

  • Before an aircraft is delivered to customers, manufacturers have to verify required reliability for the aircraft. In usual, reliability of electronic equipments in military aircraft are predicted based on MIL-HDBK-217. But the specification has not been revised since 1995. Some alternatives including SR-332 and 217PLUS are suggested in this study. The processes and methods specified in MIL-HDBK-217 are compared with those of SR-332. Additionally, the predicted reliability of aircraft electronic equipment between usage data and field data are investigated using MIL-HDBK-217. The results show that predicted reliability of MIL-HDBK-217 is more conservative (underestimated) than that of usage data and field data.

  • Electronic equipments comprised of high density components with various packaging types have been recently applied to a satellite. Therefore, to guarantee high reliability of electrical equipment, a design approach, which can reduce the development period and cost through an early diagnosis in potential risks of failure, should be established. In the previous research, the reliability assesment of the electronic equipments have based on Steinberg's fatigue failure theory. However, this theory was not enough for further investigation of life prediction and reliability of the electronic equipments comprised of various sizes and packaging types due to its theoretical limitations and analysis results sensitivity with regard to different modeling technic. In that case, if detailed finite element model is established, aforementioned problems can be readily solved. However, this approach might arise disadvantage of spending much time. In this paper, to establish strategy for high reliability design of electronic equipment, we performed mechanical reliability evaluation of CCB (Camera Controller Box) at qualification level based on the approach using Sherlock unlike design techniques applied to existing business.

  • In this paper, the practical applications of the pseudolite are explained with the basic concept of the pseudolite. Many researches have been developed to improve the performance of the GPS. Most of those researches need the extra equipments. But without the extra equipments, the performance of GPS can be improved only with the change in the software in GPS system. In this paper, the pseudolite and the integrated navigation system including GPS as well as pseudolite only with navigation system for the demand of more precise navigation system are introduced. Also, the advantage of the pseudolite is confirmed by some simulations.

  • In recent, the requirements for the safety to the effects of high power electromagnetic wave have been increased along with the development of electricity and electronic equipments. The small sized electronic devices and the various components have been analyzed by using the full-EM simulation and solving a complete set of Maxwell equation. However, the deterministic approach has a drawback and much limitation in the electromagnetic analysis of an electrically large cavity with a high complexity of the structure. In this paper, statistical theory and topological modeling method are combined to analyze the large cavity with a complex structure. In particular, the PWB(Power Balance) method and BLT(Baum-Liu-Tesche) equation are combined and employed to solve the frequency response to the large-scaled cavity with remarkably reduced time-consumption. For instance, a PCB substrate inside box of box are considered as a large structure with a complexity.

  • The evolution and application of RFID technologies have been at the forefront of allowing aviation industries to improve the quality of aircraft maintenance and air cargo handling. However, safety problems in airplane operation are arising from the hazards of frequencies transmitted due to RFID systems. Though the intensities of frequencies back-scattered from the tags are very weak, some malfunctions are anticipated due to induction coupling on aircraft wiring. Therefore, safety assessment such as electromagnetic compatability should be accomplished upon aircraft critical and essential equipments before installations.

  • It is generally well-known that the inevitable high power electromagnetic wave affects the malfunction and disorder of electronic equipments and serious damages in electronic communication systems. Hence, it is necessary to take measures against high power electromagnetic(HPEM) wave for protecting electronic devices as well as human resources. The topological analysis based on Baum-Liu-Tesche(BLT) equation simplifying the moving path of electromagnetic and the observation points and Power Balance Method(PWB) employing statistical electromagnetic analysis are introduced to analyze relatively electrically large cavity with little time consumption. In addition to the PWB method, full wave results for cylindrical cavity with apertures and incident plane wave are presented for comparison with time-consumption rate according to the cavity size.

  • In this paper, a new testing technique for core components of wireless transceiver was proposed. That was, band fault models (including the information of specifications in the analogue and RF IC) and methods which can test specifications in the time domain easily by observing a variation of band fault models in the circuit output were proposed and developed. This technique had an advantage over testing technique in frequency domain because it didn't need expensive test equipments and could reduce the time required. Test technique proposed in this paper was adapted to the test of 5.25 GHz low noise amplifier and proved that this testing technique was efficient in RF IC including low noise amplifier.
