The Relationship Between Mothers' Self-Differentiation and Social Media Addiction Tendencies: The Mediating Effect of Mothers' Parenting Stress (영아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 자기분화와 SNS 중독경향성과의 관계: 양육스트레스의 매개효과)

  • Objective: This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of mothers' parenting stress on the relationship between their self-differentiation and the tendency of addiction to social media. Methods: The participants in this study were two hundred and eight mothers with children aged 36 months or younger. Data were analyzed statistically using frequency, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Results: The results of the present study are as follows. First, the mothers' self-differentiation was negatively associated with their parenting stress and social media addiction tendency. Second, both the total scores of the mothers' parenting stress and their distress were found to partially mediate the relationship between their self-differentiation and social media addiction tendency. However, the mothers' daily stress did not mediate the relationship between the variables. Conclusion/Implications: The findings of the current study have implications for developing ways of intervening in mothers' social media addiction tendency by reducing their parenting stress, particularly for mothers with low levels of self-differentiation.

The Influence of Self Esteem and Adult Attachment on SNS(Social Network Service) Addiction Tendency (자아존중감 및 성인애착이 SNS 중독경향성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between demographic characteristics, self - esteem, and attachment instability (attachment anxiety, attachment avoidance) in the college students' SNS addiction tendency. To investigate the influencing factors on SNS addiction tendency of college students, we surveyed 330 college students at universities in the metropolitan area through offline and online questionnaires, and analyzed 271 valid ones. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, variance analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, 87.4% of college students used SNS, and the most used SNS was 'Facebook (82.3%)'. The most frequent use of SNS per day was 'over 1 hour ~ less than 2 hours (24.7%)'. Second, women had a significantly higher SNS addiction tendency than men. Third, self-esteem and SNS addiction tendency showed significant negative correlation. Fourth, attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance were positively correlated with SNS addiction tendency. Fifth, the self-esteem of college students affects negatively on the SNS addiction tendency and only the attachment anxiety among attachment instability affects the addiction tendency. Finally, we discussed the risk of SNS addiction according to the characteristics of university students.

Relationships Among Preschoolers' Smartphone Addiction Tendency, Their Problem Behaviors, and Parenting Efficacy of Their Mothers (학령전기 아동의 스마트폰 중독경향과 문제행동 및 어머니 양육효능감과의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among preschoolers' smartphone addiction tendency, problem behaviors, and parenting efficacy of the mothers of these children. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study design was used with self-administered questionnaires. A total of 83 mothers of preschoolers aged 4-6 years and their preschool teachers from a kindergarten participated in the study. Results: Mean daily time spent by the preschoolers on smartphones was about 45 minutes/day. About 40% spent more than 60 minutes/day on smartphones. The majority (69.8%) used smartphones without adult supervision. The level of smartphone addiction tendency among the preschoolers was $1.52{\pm}0.45$ on a 4-point scale. Preschoolers whose mothers use smartphones for more than 60 minutes/day showed a higher level of smartphone addiction tendency than preschoolers whose mothers use smartphones for less than 60 minutes/day. Also smartphone addiction tendency among preschoolers had a positive correlation with hyperactive-distractible behavior (r=.228, p=.038) and a negative correlation with parenting efficacy of their mothers (r=-.299, p=.006). Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that preschooler's smartphone addiction tendency is significantly associated with hyperactive-distractible behaviors of the children and low parenting efficacy among their mothers. Therefore well-designed care plans for these populations should be provided to decrease smartphone addiction tendency.

  • This study investigated firstly the cellular phone addiction tendency according to the classification of addiction, dependency, non-addiction and predicting factors of cellular phone use and secondly the psycho-social characteristics of cellular phone use by adolescent'. Participants were 368 students of academic and occupational high schools in Seoul. A prediction model of cellular phone addiction tendency was developed and show떠 that there were significant effects of cellular phone use-time, use-motives, counseling experience, impulsiveness, and depression on cellular phone addiction.

The Moderating Effect of Online Social Support in the Relationship between Rejection Sensitivity and SNS Addiction Tendency (거부민감성과 SNS 중독경향성의 관계에서 온라인 사회적 지지의 조절효과)

  • This study confirmed the moderating effect of online social support on the rejection sensitivity and SNS addiction tendency of adults. For this purpose, a survey was conducted using the SNS addiction propensity scale, rejection sensitivity scale, and online social support scale targeting 486 adults nationwide. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 27 and PROCESS Macro 3.5. As a result of this study, first, SNS addiction tendency, rejection sensitivity, and online social support were all positively correlated. Second, in the relationship between rejection sensitivity and SNS addiction tendency, online social support showed a moderating effect in the male group. The results of this study are significant in that they confirmed the importance of rejection sensitivity and online social support in confirming the tendency of SNS addiction in male and female groups. Based on these results, the limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up studies were presented.

The Relationship between Alienation and Smartphone Addiction Tendency with the Mediating Effect of Stress and the Moderated Mediating Effect of Mindfulness (스마트폰 중독 경향성에 대한 소외감의 영향에서 스트레스를 통한 마음챙김의 조절된 매개효과)

  • This study tried to understand the mediating role of stress perception and the moderating role of mindfulness in the process of psychological alienation affecting college students' smartphone addiction tendency. Two hundred seventeen university students from Chungcheongnam-do answered the questionnaire. The research model was analyzed with model 7 of Hayes' PROCESS Macro 4.0. When synthesizing analysis results, feelings of alienation mediate stress responses or directly influence smartphone addiction tendencies. At this time, people with high levels of mindfulness tended to lower their smartphone addiction tendencies by alleviating their stress response compared to those with a low level of mindfulness. The implication of this study is that it revealed the psychological process that causes alienation to induce smartphone addiction tendency through stress responses, and that mindfulness plays a role in alleviating stress response and lowering smartphone addiction tendency. In the future, it is necessary to apply the model of this study to people diagnosed with smartphone addiction.

The mediation of emotional dysregulation in the influence of social exclusion on SNS addiction tendency (SNS 중독경향성에 대한 사회적 배제감의 영향에서 정서조절곤란의 매개)

  • This paper tried to determine whether emotional dysregulation would function as a mediating variable when social exclusion affects SNS addiction tendencies. For this purpose, a survey was conducted targeting students enrolled in a university located in the central region. Responses from 298 people were analyzed. The analysis results show that social exclusion completely mediates emotional dysregulation and influences SNS addiction tendencies. Meanwhile, we set the two sub-dimensions of social exclusion as independent variables to determine whether it influences SNS addiction tendency through emotion regulation. It was found that the experience of being ignored influenced the tendency to addict to SNS by partially mediating the experience of emotion regulation, while the experience of rejection was found to affect the tendency to addict to SNS by fully mediating the experience of emotion regulation. These analysis results show that when establishing social exclusion as an influential factor in SNS addiction tendency, it is meaningful not only to set it as an overall factor but also to approach it by dividing it into individual factors.

Effects of a Group Counseling Integration Program on Self-determination and Internet Addiction in High School Students with Tendency to Internet Addiction (인터넷중독 집단상담통합프로그램이 인터넷중독경향 고등학생의 자기결정성과 인터넷중독에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: In this study the effects of a Group Counseling Integration Program for students with a tendency to internet addiction were examined. Methods: Thirty-seven students who were in a vocational high school in G city participated in a survey, which was carried out from October 12 to November 12, 2009. To test the effects of the Group Counseling Integration Program, the participants were divided into two groups, an experimental group (18) and a control group (19). The research design used in this study was a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized pre-posttest quasi-experimental research design. The research tools included a self-determination scale and an internet addiction scale. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test, t-test, and ANCOVA with the SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. Results: Significant differences were found in self-determination scores and internet addiction scores between the experimental group and the control group (F=5.99, p=.020) (t=-2.53, p=.016). Conclusion: The results indicate that Group Counseling Integration Programs are an effective nursing intervention for improving self-determination and decreasing internet addiction in students with a tendency to internet addiction.

The Mediating Effects of Mothers' Smartphone Addiction Tendency on the Relationship between Depression and Rejecting-Neglecting Style of Parenting (어머니의 우울과 거부-방임 양육행동 간의 관계에서 스마트폰 중독 경향성의 매개효과)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of smartphone addiction tendency on the relationship between depression of mothers with 3 to 5 year-old children and rejecting-neglecting parenting style. Methods: Three hundred and twenty-eight mothers answered questionnaires on three research variables. To analyze the data, Pearson correlation analyses and regression analyses were conducted. Results: First, mothers' depression, smartphone addiction tendency and rejecting-neglecting parenting style showed positive correlations, respectively. Specifically, mothers with a high level of depression were more addicted to smartphones and exhibited more rejecting-neglecting style of parenting. Also, mothers who were more obsessed with smartphones showed more rejecting-neglecting parenting style. Second, this study found partial mediating effects of smartphone addiction tendency on the relationship between depression and rejecting-neglecting parenting style. Conclusion/Implications: This study confirmed that mothers' depression and smartphone overuse had an influence on their negative parenting behaviors. The results of this study address the need of various interventions for mothers to decrease their depression and smartphone overuse.

Relationship between High School Students' Mental·Social Health and Tendency toward Social Networking Addiction (고등학생의 정신·사회건강과 SNS 중독경향성)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the relationship between high school students' mental social health and their tendency toward social networking addiction. Methods: The subjects were 543 high school boys and girls living in D city. The data were collected from the 3rd to 21st of March in 2014. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's post-hoc test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression with SPSS/ Win 21.0. Results: Social networking addiction showed significant differences depending on gender (t=-7.03, p<.001), academic achievement (t=4.571, p=.011), and the level of maternal education (t=3.344, p=.019). Social health was correlated with the tendency toward social networking addiction. Multiple regression analysis found that gender, academic achievement and social health were associated with the level of social networking addiction (F=8.750, p<.001, Adj. $R^2=.201$). Conclusion: The results suggest that it is necessary to take into account gender characteristics, academic achievement and social health in order to develop effective management programs for social networking addiction among high school students.
