Adaptive arrays have been proposed as an effective means of mitigating Multiple Access Interference (MAI) and improving the performance of existing and future wireless communication systems. In this paper, we apply the analytical method proposed to analyse the theoretical Mean Bit Error Rate (BER) of an uncoded IS-95 based CDMA system with an array antenna at the BS in a Ricean fading environment. We present a modified expression for the Signal to Interference plus Noise (SINR) ratio as a function of the number of users, number of antennas and noise levels. We also verify the analytical results by means of simulations by considering different user and channel scenarios.

In this paper, an efficient performance enhancement scheme for an adaptive antenna array under the flat and the frequency-selective Rayleigh fadings is proposed. The proposed signal enhancement scheme is the modified linear signal estimator which combines the rank N approximation by reducing noise eigenvalues(RANE) and Toeplitz matrix approximation(TMA) methods into the linear signal estimator. The proposed performance enhancement scheme is performed by not only reducing the noise component from the signal-plus-noise subspace using RANE but also having the theoretical property of noise-free signal using TMA. Consequently, the key idea of the proposed performance enhancement scheme is to greatly enhance the performance of an adaptive antenna array by removing all undesired noise effects from the post-correlation received signal. The proposed performance enhancement scheme applies at the Wiener maximal ratio combining(MRC) method which has been widely used as the conventional adaptive antenna array. It is shown through several simulation results that the performance of an adaptive antenna array using the proposed signal enhancement scheme is much superior to that of a system using the conventional method under several environments, i.e., a flat Rayleigh fading, a fast frequency-selective Rayleigh fading, a perfect/imperfect power control, a single cell, and a multicell.

In this Paper, the training principles and the control method of adaptive array antennas using the LMS and CMA algorithms for the $\pi$/4 QPSK signal is showed and the convergence characteristics, the adaptivity of directional pattern SINR and the replication of desired signal of adaptive arrays are compared and discussed each other. Computer simulation results showed that the SINR of LMS adaptive array was 13.8[dB], and that of CMA was 12.8[dB], and also the convergence characteristics of LMS was fast a little than that of CMA. The LMS adaptive array was also performed null point well for the interference signal direction than that of the CMA adaptive array.

We need a transmission of high quality and capacity according to a fast supply of mobile communication terminal. As multipath fading occured in high speed transmission, adaptive array antenna habe been studied to solve such a demand. DOA(Direction of Arrival) estimation play a important .ole in adaptive a..ay antenna. This paper present a space time blind identification using second order statistics and present blind space time adaptive array antenna. Also we verified a effect of the presented method.

Adaptive arrays reject interferences while preserving the desired signal, exploiting a priori information on its arrival angle. Subspace-based adaptive arrays, which adjust their weight vectors in the signal subspace, have the advantages of fast convergence and robustness to steering vector errors, as compared with the ones in the full dimensional space. However, the complexity of theses subspace-based methods is high because the eigendecomposition of the covariance matrix is required. In this paper, we present a simple subspace-based method based on the PASTd (projection approximation subspace tracking with deflation). The orignal PASTd algorithm is modified such that eigenvectora are orthogonal to each other. The proposed method allows us to significantly reduce the computational complexity, substantially having the same performance as the beamformer with the direct eigendecomposition. In addition to the simple beamforming method, we present theoretical analyses on the SINR (signal-to-interference plus noise ratio) of subspace beamformers to see their behaviors.

Eigenstructure-based adaptive beamfoming has advantages of fast convergence and the insentivity to errors in the arrival angle of the desired signal. Eigen-decomposing the sample matrix to extract a basis for the Sl (signal plus interference) subspace, however, is very computationally expensive. In this paper, we present a simple subspace based beamforming which utilizes off-diagonal elements of the sample matrix to estimate the Sl subspace. The outputs of overlapped subarrays are combined to produce the final adaptive output, which improves SINR (signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio) comapred to exploiting a single subarray. The proposed adaptive beamformer, which employs an efficient angle estimation is very roubust to errors in both the arrival angles and the number of the incident signals, while the eigenstructure-based beamforer suffers from severe performance degradation.

Adaptive beamformers, which utilize a priori information on the arrival angle of the desired signal. suppress interferences while maximizing their gains in the desired signal direction. However, if there exist errors in the direction information, they can suffer from severe performance degradation since the desired signal is treated as an interference. A robust adaptive beamforming method is presented which exploits the signal-blocking structure of the Duvall beamformer. The proposed method finds an interference signal space directly from correlations of received signals and then obtains a weight vector such that it is orthogonal to the space. Applying the weight vector to two sub arrays which consist of one less sensors than the original uniform lineal array (ULA), the beamformer efficiently estimates the arrival angle of the desired signal. Its computational complexity is lower than existing methods, which require matrix inversion or eigendecomposition.
In this paper, the reverse link performance of an imperfect power controlled DS/CDMA cellular system that uses a base station array antenna which can effectively remove the multiple access interference is analyzed considering both beam forming algorithm and power control error in shadowing. The blocking probability of the DS/CDMA cellular system based on array parameters, Eb/No and statistics of interference is derived, and then the system capacity corresponding to a certain blocking probability is calculated. On the assumption that the blocking probability is set 1 %, the system capacity using MCGM algorithm with 12 antenna arrays is increased about 59 % than that using 8 antenna arrays when power control error is 2.5 ㏈.
In this paper, an uplink MC-CDMA system incorporating multiuser detection and smart antennas has been considered. The performance of asynchronous as well as synchronous system is studied over a correlated Rayleigh multipath slow fading channel. A simplified array-processing algorithm suitable for slow fading situation is investigated to overcome the heavy computational complexity associated with Eigen solutions. The effect of variable data rate in the system performance is considered and effectiveness of antenna array to handle high data rate is discussed. A brief investigation on the system performance degradation due to correlated channel is also carried out. Based on the extensive simulation carried out, the performance of the asynchronous uplink system is found dramatically improved with antenna array and multiuser detection. Asynchronicity and channel correlation are found to affect the system performance significantly. The investigated simpli- fied algorithm produces similar results as Eigen solutions in slow fading situation with much reduced complexity.
Nowadays adaptive technique allows arrays of any geometry to be used with fast direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimators designed for linear arrays. So the interpolation of data from a given antenna array onto the output of a virtual array is needed before the direction finding technique is applied to the outputs of a uniform linear virtual array (ULVA). In this paper some superresoluntion methods are used to estimate DOA by best-fit transformation matrix T under different nonuniformly spaced array.
