  • The goal of the National Assessment of Educational Achievement(NAEA) 2001 was to affirm the accountability of school education, to scientifically manage and elevate the quality of education at the national level, and to articulate the final design of the NAEA. It was implemented on June 28th of the year 2001. The assessment frame for NAEA includes the achievement standards, the assessment standards, the instruction for the item development, and the grading policy for mathematics subject. Most of items are multiple-choice types, but the performance-based items should be at least thirty percent of the total items, also 30% in case of mathematics. Approximately 1% of students among entire population of the Grades 6 were randomly selected. Therefore, the finally sampled examines were 8023 at Grade 6. The result of the analysis of the NAEA revealed that Grade 6 students was labelled as ‘average’ level in general (Number and Operation: average, Geometric figures: average, Patterns and Functions: excellent, Measurements: average, Letters and Expressions: average, Probability and Statistics: average). The most characteristic finding was that except for Grade 6(its average is 69.92), most secondary students obtained low test scores and its average of each grade is below 50 out of 100. Especially, the scores on the performance-based items were by and large very low. This finding implies that Korean students are not familiar with the kind of test items which requires expression of ideas and feelings and they are rather familiar with the multiple-choice items. Another interesting finding was that the students in small towns and remote areas showed significantly low scores in all four skills compared with Seoul, metropolitan cities and medium and small cities. This may be attributed from the fact that the remote areas do not have equal learning environment with regard to social and cultural experience, supply of various teaching materials, extracurricular lessons which are directly related to teaching and learning. These findings may be utilized as a reliable resource fur improving curriculum and teaching and learning in Mathematics.

  • It is the 6th curriculum that first officially mentioned the use of calculators in elementary mathematics education in Korea. Since then, the curriculum has been more widely used than in the beginning. However, in actual textbooks, it is still not enough to see the utilization situation, and guidance in this textbook is very scarce. In particular, there is no relevant study that meets the standards of achievement of the curriculum. The purpose of this study is to investigate the contents of the research on the use of the calculator in the course of the curriculum change after the 6th curriculum, and to present the complex calculation, mathematical concept, mathematical principles and rules, mathematical problem solving. In addition, the course is presented in the textbooks that are appropriate for the achievement criteria and the application process for each topic.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how to strengthen the formation of relationship competence through the lesson in the housing of the 2015 revised Technology Home Economics curriculum. In order to achieve this goal, we analyzed curriculum documents, achievement standards of curriculum, achievement standards of assessment, and assessment standards of the 2015 revised Technology Home Economics curriculum. Then, we analyzed whether or not the curriculum could be truly reflected in the school site by comparing and analyzing verbs of the assessment standards and curriculum content system. In addition, we suggested the plan to ensure that 2015 revised curriculum can be implemented well by proposing a method of teaching-learning and assessment standards to cultivate the formation of relationship competence among the housing lessons. The results of the study are as follows. First, the 2015 revised Technology Home Economics curriculum are categorized into three subject competences according to the content, but eventually show the content is not mutually exclusive with the three subject competences. It can be said to demonstrate the characteristics of human ability development, that is, one learning can't be related only to one competency. Second, it is difficult to reflect the assessing subject competencies system in school education, where evaluation is carried out based on the assessment standards. This is because the skills of the 2015 revised curriculum documents are partially reflected in the assessment standards. Therefore, this study shows that teachers need to cultivate various subject competencies. In order to overcome the fundamental limitations of the competency-centered curriculum, it is necessary to retrain the teachers as well as to improve teaching and learning methods for operating the curriculum.

  • The cultivation of scientific literacy in recent science education can be improved by experiencing and understanding scientific inquiry by which scientific knowledge is formed. The National Research Council(NRC) released the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) including 8 practices of science that help students experience scientists' inquiry and subdividing achievement standards to perform 8 practices of science into by grade clusters. This study was intended to examine science inquiry activities included in 4 high school chemistry II textbooks developed by the 2009 revised curriculum using the 8 scientific practices and their achievement standards for 9th-12th grade. The science inquiry activities and the science practices included in the 4 textbooks were 173 and 678. The science practices included in the inquiry activities of 4 textbooks included the most ‘analyzing and interpreting data.’ The ‘engaging in argument from evidence’, ‘Obtaining, Evaluating, and Communicating Information’ were less than other practices. The ‘asking questions and defining problem’ and ‘developing and using models’ were not nearly included in the 4 high school chemistry II textbooks.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply assessment standards for the reflection of science museum exhibitions in science curriculum. Assesment standards were developed based on the national achievement standards for earth science in elementary school. The researchers measured the reflection level and evaluation scale by applying the developed assesment standards to exhibitions in the National Science Museum. The results of this study showed that the reflection level and evaluation scale of science curriculum far elementary school in the National Science Museum were measured as 52% and 3.53 respectively. Especially, the level of the reflection of science curriculum in the National Science Museum was found to be at the high level in Geologic field and Astronomic field. These results indicate that the National Science Museum as an informal education institute is comparatively well connected to science education of elementary school. Science museum should be connected with school education and it should start after a substantial reflection on the curriculum. For this, science museum need to develop standards that reflect science curriculum. From this point of view, the results of this study can be used as basic data that evaluate the level of connection between science museum and school education and that guide the direction of development of science curriculum.

  • Importance of quality control is gradually increasing in the construction. And the reber work is very important things which influence in safety and durability of the building and accounts for about 9.8% of the total cost. Although reber work is important, quality control of the rebar work is still performed by attitude and experience of worker. Therefore, it is very important to quality achievement effort and quality standards recognition of rebar worker for quality sophistication in the construction. Some papers have dealt with the quality control in construction. But there was no study for actual conditions of quality standards recognition of rebar workers. The purpose of this study is to survey the actual conditions of quality standards recognition of rebar workers and to analyze difference of consciousness of administrator and worker. The result are : there id difference of consciousness of worker and administrator, workers work without knowing quality standard.
