Fiber Ring Laser Intra-cavity Absorption Spectroscopy for Gas Sensing: Analysis and Experiment

  • Fiber ring laser based intra-cavity absorption spectroscopic sensor has great potential for high sensitivity gas detection. Using the rate equations and propagation equations, we investigated theoretically factors that affect the sensitivity of such fiber ring laser sensors and determined the optimal design parameters and conditions for significant enhancement of the system sensitivity. Experiments have been conducted to determine the sensitivity enhancement performance. The results showed a factor of 25 ~ 30 in sensitivity enhancement in the experimental system, agreeing well with the theoretical expectations. Experiments on acetylene detection have also been carried out and the results showed that the ring cavity significantly increases the signal absorption and that high sensitivity can be obtained for gas detection.

  • Throughout the world, studies on the water energization are currently under way. Of those, Brown gas, which is generated through the electrolyzation of water and is a mixed gas of the constant volume of 2 parts hydrogen to 1 part oxygen, has better characteristics in terms of economy, energy efficiency, and environmental affinity than those of acetylene gas and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) used for existing welding machines. This paper analyzes the characteristics of Brown gas and presents methods for increasing the generating efficiency of Brown gas by designing a power supply to deliver power to a water-electrolytic cell and designing a cylindrical electrode to improve the efficiency of the electrolyzer needed for water electrolyzation. Based on the above the methods, a welding machine using Brown gas is developed. And the generation efficiency of Brown gas is measured tinder different conditions (duty ratio, frequency and amplitude) of supplied power.

  • 물을 전기분해하여 얻은 일정 부피비를 갖는 수소와 산소 혼합가스를 수산화가스로 명명하며, 이를 역반응시켜서 열 에너지원으로 사용하고 있다. 수산화가스는 경제성, 안전성 및 환경친화적인 고유한 특성을 지니고 있어서 현재 가스용접기에 적용하고 있으며 여러 가지 응용분야에 적용할 수 있도록 연구 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 수산화가스의 특성에 관하여 고찰하고 발생기용 전원에 대하여 소개하고 이 중에서 아직까지 적용되지 않은 펄스전원을 적용하여 여러 가지 운전주파수에서 비교분석 하였다.

  • Hydrogen - Oxygen gas has obtained from water electrolysis reaction. It is mixed gas havingconstant volume ratio 2:1 Hydrogen and Oxygen, and it is used as a source of thermal energy by combustion reaction. 불화된 γ-Al2O3상에서 아세틸렌으로부터 1,1-difluoroethane의 합성 (1,1-Difluoroethane Synthesis from Acetylene over Fluorinated γ-Al2O3)

  • ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$을 불화한 촉매상에서 아세틸렌으로부터 1,1-difluoroethane을 합성하는 실험을 반응물질의 몰비와 접촉시간, 그리고 반응온도를 변화하여 실시하였다. 촉매의 불화는 무수 불화수소로 고온에서 행하였다. 제조된 시료는 XRD에 의한 결정성, 질소 흡착에 의한 세공성, 그리고 피리딘-IR과 암모니아-TPD에 의한 산 특성을 측정하였다. 촉매의 활성은 ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$가 불화됨에 따라 향상되었고 반응온도 $200^{\circ}C$ 정도에서 원하는 생성물인 1,1-difluoroethane의 분율이 90% 이상이었다. 불화된 ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$촉매상에서 얻은 중간생성물인 vinylfluoride에 비해 원하는 물질인 1,1-difluoroethane의 비는 불화수소/아세틸렌 몰비가 높고 접촉시간이 큰 경우에서 높았고 반응온도 $210^{\circ}C$에서 최대의 값을 얻었다.

  • This paper describes development of power transformer maintenance system using intelligent dissolved gases in oil analysis. The used gases are acetylene(C2H2), hydrogen(H2), ethylene(C2H4), methane(CH4), ethane(C2H6), carbon monoxide(CO) and carbon dioxide(CO2). The rule and neural network based gas analysis methods are used for artificial intelligent diagnosis. It is indicated that this program is efficient for diagnosis of oil immersed transformers diagnosis from application of gas analysis data of serviced transformer which has local overheating

  • A series of experimental results on thin mild steel plates clamped at the boundary subjected to gas detonation shock loading are presented. Detonation occurred by mixing Acetylene (C2H2)-Oxygen (O2) in various volume ratio and different initial pressure. The applied impulse is varied to give deformation in the range from 6 mm to 35 mm. Analytical modeling using energy method was also performed. Dependent material properties, as well as strain rate sensitivity, are included in the theoretical modeling. Prediction values for midpoint deflections are compared with experimental data. The analytical predictions have good agreement with experimental values. Moreover, it has been shown that the obtained model has much less error compared with those previously proposed in the literature.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized by Fe-catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method about $800^{\circ}C$. The influence of process parameters such as pretreatment conditions, gas flow ratio, processing time, etc on the growth of CNTs was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Ammonia was added to acetylene source gas before and during the CNT growth. Different types of CNTs formed depending upon the processing condition. It was found that ammonia prevented amorphous carbons from adsorbing to the outer wall of CNT, resulting in purification of CNTs during CNT growth.

덱스트란 필름의 제조 및 개질에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Preparation of Dextran Film and Its Modification)

  • 덱스트란 용액으로 필름을 제조하여 여러 가지 특성들을 살펴보았으며, 가소제 및 가교제를 첨가하거나 저온 플라스마로 표면을 처리함으로써 이러한 특성들을 향상시킬 수 있는 지를 살펴보았다. 덱스트란 필름은 기계적 강도는 우수하였으나 부스러지기 쉽고 수분에 대단히 약한 특성을 보였다 가소제를 첨가할 경우에는 유연성이 크게 개선되는 대신에 기계적 강도가 크게 약화되었다. 하지만, 가소제를 첨가한 다음 가교제로 가교시키거나 함께 첨가할 경우에는 비교적 우수한 기계적 강도와 함께 유연성을 지닌 필름이 제조되었으며, 수분에 대한 저항성도 향상되었다. 또한, 아세틸렌 플라스마로 처리할 경우 필름 자체의 특성은 크게 변하지 않으나 친수성인 표면이 소수성으로 바뀌었다.
