  • An accelerated life test (ALT) is a test method that forces components to fail more quickly than they would under use conditions by applying higher overstresses. When two or more accelerating stresses are involved in an ALT, an interaction effect may occur. In previous studies, mostly ALTs without considering an interaction of accelerated stresses and accelerated life models were proposed. The life data obtained are extrapolated using a life-stress relationship to estimate the life distribution at use conditions. We use the general log-linear relationship to model the dependence of life in the Weibull distribution on stress. Therefore, this study suggests the acceleration factor model between the lives at use conditions and accelerated conditions by using mechanical component life data considering an interaction effect. Further, the accelerated life test method and acceleration factor model proposed in this paper will be the basis for adopting an accelerated life test with accelerated stress interactions.

  • In this paper, we propose some estimators of Kullback- Leibler Information functions using the data from three step stress accelerated life tests. This acceleration model is assumed to be a tampered random variable model. Some asymptotic properties of proposed estimators are proved. Simulations are performed for comparing the small sample properties of the proposed estimators under use condition of accelerated life test.

  • We consider the Bayesian accelerated failure time model. The error distribution is assigned a skewed normal distribution which is including normal distribution. For noninformative priors of regression coefficients, we show the propriety of posterior distribution. A Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm(i.e., Gibbs Sampler) is used to obtain a predictive distribution for a future observation and Bayes estimates of regression coefficients.

  • In this paper, we propose goodness of fit test statistics based on the estimated Kullback-Leibler information functions using the data from three step stress accelerated life test. This acceleration model is assumed to be a tampered random variable model. The power of the proposed test under various alternatives is compared with Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic, Cramer-von Mises statistic and Anderson-Darling statistic.

  • In this paper, the concept of accelerated life test, which is a popular research field nowadays, is applied to the shot peened material. To predict the efficient and exact room temperature fatigue characteristics from the high temperature fatigue data, the adequate accelerated model is investigated. Ono type rotary bending fatigue tester and high temperature chamber were used for the experiment. Room temperature fatigue lives were predicted by applying accelerated models and doing reliability evaluation. Room temperature fatigue tests were accomplished to check the effectiveness of predicted data and the adequate accelerated life test models were presented by considering errors. Experimental result using Arrhenius model, fatigue limit obtain almost 5.45% of error, inverse power law has about 1.36% of error, so we found that inverse power law is applied well to temperature-life relative of shot peened material.

  • In this paper, a simple step-stress accelerated life test (ALT) under progressive type-II censoring is considered. Progressive type-II censoring and accelerated life testing are provided to decrease the lifetime of testing and lower test expenses. The cumulative exposure model is assumed when the lifetime of test units follows an extension of the exponential distribution. Maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) and Bayes estimates (BEs) of the model parameters are also obtained. In addition, a real dataset is analyzed to illustrate the proposed procedures. Approximate, bootstrap and credible confidence intervals (CIs) of the estimators are then derived. Finally, the accuracy of the MLEs and BEs for the model parameters is investigated through simulation studies.

  • In order to assess the reliability of the electronics control unit for vehicles, accelerated life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, failure mechanism and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows : i) the main failure mechanism is degradation failure that is, junction destruction of a semiconductor resin by high temperature. ii) the life distribution of the electronics control unit for vehicles is fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the accelerated life model of that is fitted well to Arrhenius model. iii) at the result of the life distribution, accelerated life test method is developed, and test time for life assessment will be shortened by 5,000 hours by this test method.

  • In this paper, four types of insulation coils were fabricated by adding various kinds of glycols to improve the flexibility and adhesion of insulating coils in varnish dispersed with PAI / Nano Silica_15wt%. The applied voltage and frequency were 1.5 kV / 20 kHz for accelerated life evaluation. Through the 6th temperature stress level, the cause of the insulation breakdown of the coil was ignored and only the breakdown time was measured. The Arrhenius model was chosen based on the theoretical relationship between chemical reaction rate and temperature for estimating the insulation life of the coil due to accelerated thermal stress. Three types of distributions (Weibull, Lognormal, Exponential) were selected as the relationship between thermal stress model and distribution. The average insulation lifetime was estimated under the temperature stress of four types of insulation coils through the relationship between one kind of model and three kinds of distributions.

  • As an alternative to traditional life testing, degradation tests can be effective in assessing product reliability when measurements of degradation leading to failure can be observed. This article presents an accelerated degradation testing for vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs). The accelerated degradation model is based on Arrhenius-lifetime relationship for cathode temperatures. We compare the results between accelerated degradation test and test at normal use condition. Accelerated degradation test for display devices is observed as an efficient method to warrantee product reliability to customers, as well as a tool to save time and costs.

  • The gear in various mechanical components easily occurs at damages by the external torque. The main failure modes of the gear are surface pitting with the tooth surface and breakage with tooth root by caused fatigue. Therefore, the gear is very important role in the reliability research since it may cause fatal damage of entire system such as the gear box in automobile transmission. In this study, the failure mode of the gear was analyzed and accelerated durability analysis was employed for the life estimation of spur gears. In the case of assumed load spectrums, the reliability of spur gears was evaluated by inverse power law-Weibull accelerated life test model with cumulative damage exposure.
