Reference Priors in a Two-Way Mixed-Effects Analysis of Variance Model

  • We first derive group ordering reference priors in a two-way mixed-effects analysis of variance (ANOVA) model. We show that posterior distributions are proper and provide marginal posterior distributions under reference priors. We also examine whether the reference priors satisfy the probability matching criterion. Finally, the reference prior satisfying the probability matching criterion is shown to be good in the sense of frequentist coverage probability of the posterior quantile.

  • cDNA microarray technology allows the monitoring of expression levels for thousands of genes simultaneously. Many statistical analysis tools become widely applicable to the analysis of cDNA microarray data. In this talk, we consider a two-way ANOVA model to differentiate genes that have high variability and ones that do not. Using this model, we detect genes that have different gene expression profiles among experimental groups. The two-way ANOVA model is illustrated using cDNA microarrays of 3,800 genes obtained in an experiment to search for changes in gene expression profiles during neuronal differentiation of cortical stem cells.

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the chip breakability during turning using the experimental equation, which is developed by an orthogonal array method. The chip breaking index(CB), non-dimensional parameter is used in the evaluation of chip breakability. The analysis of variance(ANOVA)-test has been used to check the significance of cutting parameters. And using the result of ANOVA-test, the experimental equation of chip breakability, which consists of significant cutting parameters, has been developed.

  • Power algorithms for analysis of variance tests are presented. In experimental design of operational tests and evaluations the selection of design parameters so as to attain an experiment with desired power is a difficult and important problem. An interactive computer program is presented which uses the power algorithms for ANOVA tests and creates graphical presentations which can be used to assist decision makers in statistical design. ANOVA tests and associated parameters (such as sample size, types and levels of treatments, and alpha-level)are examined.

  • In the problem of estimating the error variance in the balanced fixed- effects one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) model, Ghosh (1994) proposed hierarchical Bayes estimators and raised a conjecture for which all of his hierarchical Bayes estimators are admissible. In this paper we prove this conjecture is true by representing one-way ANOVA model to the distributional form of a multiparameter exponential family.

  • We construct bootstrap confidence intervals for reliability, R= P{X>Y}, where X and Y are independent normal random variables. One way ANOVA random effect models are assumed for the populations of X and Y, where standard deviations $\sigma_{x}$ and $\sigma_{y}$ are unequal. We investigate the accuracy of the proposed bootstrap confidence intervals and classical confidence intervals work better than classical confidence interval for small sample and/or large value of R.

  • For estimating the error variance under the relative squared error loss in two-way analysis of variance models, we provide a class of hierarchical Bayes estimators and then derive a subclass of the hierarchical Bayes estimators, each member of which dominates the best multiple of the error sum of squares which is known to be minimax. We also identify a subclass of non-minimax hierarchical Bayes estimators.

  • In machine learning and statistics it is often the case that some variables are not important, while some variables are more important than others. We propose a novel algorithm for selecting such relevant variables in the kernel Cox regression. We employ the weighted version of ANOVA decomposition kernels to choose optimal subset of relevant variables in the kernel Cox regression. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of the proposed method.

  • The result of imaging segmentation becomes different with the parameters involved in the segmentation algorithms; therefore, the parameters for the optimal segmentation have been found through a try and error. In this paper, we propose the method to find the best values of parameters involved in the area-based active contour method using three-way ANOVA. The segmentation result applied by three-way ANOVA is compared with the optimal segmentation which is drawn by user. We use the global consistency rate for comparing two segmentations. Finally, we estimate the main effects and interactions between each parameter using three-way ANOVA, and then calculate the point and interval estimate to find the best values of three parameters. The proposed method will be a great help to find the optimal parameters before working the motion segmentation using piecewise constant model.

  • In this study, we analyzed public health data analysis using the hadoop-based spack in the cloud environment using the data of the Community Health Survey from 2012 to 2014, and the factors affecting the quality of life and quality of life. In the proposed paper, we constructed a cloud manager for parallel processing support using Hadoop - based Spack for open medical big data analysis. And we analyzed the factors affecting the "quality of life" of the individual among open medical big data quickly without restriction of hardware. The effects of public health data on health - related quality of life were classified into personal characteristics and community characteristics. And multiple-level regression analysis (ANOVA, t-test). As a result of the experiment, the factors affecting the quality of life were 73.8 points for men and 70.0 points for women, indicating that men had higher health - related quality of life than women.
