Since ancient times, ginseng has been cultivated in Korea, and related cultures are also rich. However, the domestic ginseng industry is currently facing many crises. As a source of ginseng, Korea needs to come up with a strategy to cope with the crisis of the ginseng industry and implement it efficiently and effectively using limited resources. This study used the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyze the priority of policies so that ginseng policies can be effectively implemented. The survey was conducted by dividing into two groups of experts, 'policy managers' and 'field experts'. As a result of the study, policy managers seem to believe that the consumption of ginseng is important for the development of the ginseng industry. On the other hand, the field expert group believes that the government should take the initiative to increase the supply capacity of the ginseng industry. Through this study, it will be possible to help in determining the importance of policy, recognizing that the viewpoints of policy can be different for the ginseng industry to develop.
Purpose: There have been more researches focused on eco-friendly construction practices in order to save energy consumed and these practices have been extensively applied for constructing buildings. However, researches on energy consumption saving and efficiency for hospital facilities have been still insufficient. This research aims to draw factors that affect energy efficiency of hospital buildings through literature reviews and perform an expert-survey using AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) method in order to analyze the importances and priorities of these energy efficient factors. Method: Using the AHP method, this paper suggests the importances and priorities of factors to affect energy efficiency in hospital buildings. The survey of experts at a architectural design and a construction management companies was conducted via e-mail and mail. Result: As a result, factors of window and door, insulation, ventilation, and natural lighting turned out relatively important as respectively 0.104, 0.102, 0.101, and 0.095 n the energy efficiency in hospital buildings, while factors of artificial lighting, geothermal, solar heat, and control did unimportant as 0.027, 0.033, 0.043, and 0.053.

The objective of this study is to analyze the landslide hazard areas by combining LRA (Lgistic Regression Analysis) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Program) methods with Remote Sensing and GIS data in Anseong-si. In order to classify landslide hazard areas of seven levels, six topographic factors (slope, aspect, elevation, soil drain, soil depth, and land use) were used as input factors of LRA and AHP methods. As results, high-risk areas for landslide (1 and 2 levels) by LRA and AHP of its own were classified as 46.1% and 48.7%, respectively. A new method by applying weighting factors to the results of LRA and AHP was suggested. High-risk areas for landslide (1 and 2 levels) form the new method was classified as 58.9%.

Project Management Consultant (PMC) plays a vital role in the overall performance of any project. Selecting right PMC for right project is the most crucial challenge for any construction owner. Thus, PMC selection is one of the main decisions made by owners at the early phase of construction project. It is not easy for the project owner to select a competent PMC due to the fuzziness, imprecision, vagueness, incomplete and qualitative criteria of the decision. This paper presents a model for selecting PMC contractor using the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP). And a fuzzy number based framework is proposed to be a viable method for PMC contractor selection. A case study to illustrate the application of the model is also presented in this paper.

To maximize effectiveness of standardization activities, it is essential to set priorities for determined standardization work items in the next generation internet protocol television (NG-IPTV) technologies. In this study, the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) is employed and applied to ranking of NG-IPTV standardization work items as a multi-criteria decision making tool which involves comprehensive surveys. Survey results are analyzed and we identified a useful three level segmentation of standardization strategic plan which shows standardization work item priorities.

This paper presents an analytic method of quality function deployment(QFD) that is to maximize customer satisfaction subject to technical and economic sides in process design. We have used Wasserman's normalization method and the analytical hierarchy process(AHP) to determine the intensity of the relationship between customer requirements and process design attributes. This paper also shows cost-quality model the tradeoff between quality and cost as a linear programming(LP) with new constraints that have designated special process required allocating firstly The cost-quality function deployment of piston ring is presented to illustrate the feasibility of such techniques.

Considering the fact that quality of life(QOL) conceptually has objective and subjective attributes but difficulties in measuring the subjective aspect cause a number of studies not to be balanced, this study exploits AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) which has been used for systematic decision making to include the other aspect. As the first step of the process decision making hierarchy model is set by content analysis of the UNDP QOL index and additional review of previous studies. 'Improving urban QOL' is a goal on top, 'Economical QOL', 'Environmental QOL', 'Social QOL' and 'Physical QOL' are dimensions of sub-goal(means objectives), and further decomposition follows. AHP shows that the dimensions of economical, physical, environmental and social QOL scored higher respectively. The aim of the model is to measure and prioritize the urban QOL in the two case study cities. The final score of the each city could be computed by integration of relative weights of dimensions for urban QOL. The final score of QOL for city A was 0.6642 and for city B the figure decreased to 0.3358. The method of this study could be used in stages of the process of urban planning. First stage is when planners try to have a correct and reliable perspective from the existed conditions of the city. Second stage is when the projects should be investigated to be confirmed for their efficiency. In other words planners can direct the scarce resources towards the aspects of QOL which are more important. And the results revealed that using AHP creates opportunity to involving the different groups in the stage of criteria weighting so that the attitudes of local community could be integrated well to the decision making to be suitable for a new paradigm of participatory and communicative planning.
The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) enables decision makers to represent the interaction of multiple factors in complex and unstructured situations. The process requires the decision maker to develop a hierarchical structure of the factors in the given problem and to provide judgments about the relative importance of each of these factors and ultimately to specify a preference for each decision alternative with respect to each factor. The research presented in this paper applies the AHP to identify key players in promoting port competitiveness. The literature survey revealed four major criteria and 15 sub-criteria. The four factors are cost, service quality, facility/capacity and economic-social variable. 150 questionnaires suitable for AHP analysis were made and 77 were returned. It is found that in terms of cost, the first key player is terminal operator and the second key player is shipping companies calling Busan port; in terms of service quality, the first key player is terminal operator, and the second key player is shipping companies calling Busan port; in terms of facility/capacity, the first key player is port authority and the second key player is terminal operator; in terms of economic-social variable, the first key player is terminal operator, and the second key player is shipping companies calling Busan port.
The lack of water resources is becoming a serious issue throughout the world. The water shortage in Korea is expected to increase. Groundwater can be a solution to this matter in some places. Especially, bank filtrations are known to be advantageous over conventional reserviors, even if they have some drawbacks such as their limited location for development and small sizes. The AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) is an analytical tool, supported by simple mathematics, which enables one to explicitly rank tangible and intangible factors against each other for the purpose of resolving conflicts or setting priorities. In order to check the applicability of AHP to the evaluation of bank filtration sites, four candidate locations were chosen. They have suffered from problems like water-supply shortage and delayed dam construction. The analysis results are compared with those of the previous study using a conventional method. It is believed that the developed method can a basis for reasonable decision-making regarding bank filtration development.
