  • The crane operates in three directions, hoisting, traversing, and travelling motion. In this study, an AC drive system for these motions of the crane is developed and tested. The command from an operator is transmitted to PLC, which sends data to a main controller by fieldbus protocols such as Profibus or Devicenet. And the main controller is connected to other auxiliary ones by CAN bus. The each controller, which has the same structure, regulates its motor speed from the operator's command.

  • In this paper, a vector control method for a AC-Excited BLSM(Brushless Synchronous Motor) is proposed. The BLSM has a feature that separate exciter is not needed for excitation. The proposed method is described in two parts as follow, one is the design of drive and the other is a modeling for its implementation. Rotor flux is estimated using indirect sensing method based on voltage equation in the synchronously rotation reference frame. And rotor position is calculated from rotor angular velocity and stator current. Through computer simulation results of this proposed system, it is shown that the BLSM drive has a ability of precision torque control from the static and dynamic performance.

  • In this paper, the windmill type ultrasonic motors with 11.35 mm diameter, 2.87 mm thickness of metal endcap and 1.47 g weight were fabricated. Effects of slots and thickness on torque characteristic in the windmill type ultrasonic motor were investigated, when stator's slots were changed from 4, 6, 8 and thickness 0.15 mm, respectively. Specially designed metal endcaps with windmill shaped cutting can provide longitudinal and torsional displacements simultaneously as the ceramic disk vibrates radically. The windmill type ultrasonic motor has only three components: a stator element with windmill shape slotted metal endcap, a rotor and bearing. Ultrasonic motor stimulated to ultrasonic oscillations by piezoelectrics to drive a rotor via friction contact. The ultrasonic motor fabricated here was the windmill type ultrasonic motor operated by single-phase AC source. Bidirectional revolution using single-phase high frequency for driving the ultrasonic motor was presented.

  • In general, the realization of high performance brushless permanent magnet motors which are widely used in servo drive is focused on the linear control for ripple-free torque. This is also the main problem that should be solved in all AC motors including induction motor to achieve high performance control, and recent papers deal with this problem. In this paper, the novel optimal excitation scheme of brushless permanent magnet motor producing loss-minimized ripple-free torque based on the d-q-0 reference frame is presented including 3 phase unbalanced condition. The optimized phase current waveforms that are obtained by the proposed method can be a reference values and the motor winding currents are forced to track it by delta modulation technique. As a results, it can be shown that the proposed work can minimize the torque ripple by the optimal excitation current for brushless permanent magnet motor with any arbitrary phase back EMF waveform. Simulation and experimental results prove the validity and practical applications of the proposed control scheme.

  • In order to drive motor control system precisely, the motor is to be controlled by mmfs and current with sinusoidal waveforms. In this paper the Delta Modulation (DM) Technique is used for generating PWM pulse with sinusoidal waveform. However the motor currents yet contain odd harmonics due to leakage inductances, speed and exitation. To reduce harmonics, the parameter adaptive control method is introduced. That is, Req.C parameter of Delta Modulator is controlled adaptively by parameter adaptor. The adaptive signal is achieved by the difference between motor current and reference waveform, and this signal is converted to the voltage commend signal by adaptive mechanism. The test reslts show that this system is operated smoothly over a wide range of motor speed and motor current is controlled to be sinusoidal waveform adaptively.

  • An inverter-driven induction motor is usually adapted to the traction motor for a high speed drive system requiring safety, reliability, performance, compact size owing to the space and weight alloted for attaching to train, etc. and AC Traction motor for G7 train will be operated in the worst condition such as mechanical vibration, limited mounting space, severe thermal stress, inverter with non-sinusoidal voltage waveform, dust and so on. therefore, design procedure must be carefully carried out wi th considering the motor size, vibration and thermal expansion of rotor bars, insulation system, reliability of frame, as well as output characteristics. In this paper, we will inform the characteristics and design of the traction motor for G7 train and also analyze the test result of it.

  • In the high performance AC motor drive system, exact torque and speed control is required For exact torque and speed control, good current controller is prerequisite. In this paper, predictive current control scheme for PMSM is presented and implemented using DSP. Full digital speed controller for PMSM is constructed its usefulness is verified.

  • Given the constraint of the AC input power factor and the DC-link voltage and current ripple in voltage source inverter, minimizing the size and cost of the DC-link fitter components is very important. This paper presents a procedure for the selection of DC-link filler element values in a three-phase PWM voltage source inverter-fed induction motor drive system, which can not only satisfy the requirements for the system performance but also minimize the filter size.

  • Due to development of power electronics technology, power conversion system are tend to small size, easy to use and light weight. Especially motor control system have increased concerns and interests about IPM(Intelligent Power Module) inverter, which contains protection circuit, drive circuit and power devices. So, we manufactured 3-phase inverter using DIP-IPM(Dual in-line package IPM) PS21245- E(1.5 Kw) made by MITSUBISHI Electric. Some of these features include -HVIC to Provide level shifting and gate drive for high-side IGBTs. The interface circuit between pwm controller and DIP-IPM can made by direct connection. In order to validate dynamic performance of the proposed system, the actual experiment worked out at wide speed range. The developed system is shown as a good dynamic characteristics.

  • Phase angle control ac drives system gains a high popularity due to their simple implementation despite the disadvantage of their poor input power factor especially for large values of phase delay angle. Furthermore it generates subharmononic current at specific phase angle. As input current of do drive systems are sinusoidal, the power factor and subharmonic current characteristics are improve. This paper presents the application of a PWM control technique of do chopper system to reduce the subharmonic current and its characteristics using single-phase dc chopper drive system of universal motor.
