인진호 열수 추출물이 thioacetamide에 의해 유발된 간손상에 미치는 간보호 효과 (Protective effect of Artemisiae Capillaris Herba water extract on liver injury induced by thioacetamide)

  • 본 연구는 TAA 복강투여로 유발된 간 손상 동물모델에서 인진호 열수 추출물의 간보호 효능을 평가하였으며 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. TAA로 인해 줄어드는 체중은 인진호 열수 추출물을 투여한 군에서 유의하게 증가하였으며, 간손상에 의해 증가한 혈중 암모니아 함량과 MPO 활성은 인진호 열수 추출물 투여군에서 유의하게 감소하였다. 간 조직의 western blotting 결과, 인진호 열수 추출물 투여가 산화적 스트레스 관련 인자들의 발현을 유의적으로 감소시키고, 항산화 관련 인자들의 발현을 유의하게 증가시켰으며, MMPs의 발현은 감소시키고 TIMP-1의 발현은 증가시킴을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 인진호 열수 추출물은 TAA로 유발된 간손상 동물모델에서 항산화 작용을 통해 산화적 스트레스를 억제하여 간보호 효과를 보이는 것으로 판단된다.

식용식물의 유기용매 추출물로부터 딸기부패균 Staphylococcus sp.에 대한 항균활성 검정 (Antibacterial Activities of Edible Plant Extracts against Strawberry Spoiling bacteria Staphylococcus sp.)

  • 원예산물의 저온저장중 부패방지를 위한 천연항균제 개발의 일환으로 식용 가능한 식물을 채집하여 E. coli K 12, B. subtilis K KCTC 1028 및 딸기부패균에 대한 항균활성을 조사하였다. 사철 쑥, 가죽나무 잎, 초피 잎, 적송 잎, 뽕 잎, 씀바귀, 마늘의 즙액은 E. coli와 B. subtilis에 대하여 높은 항균활성을 보였다. 이들 식물체 즙액으로부터 n-hexane, ethyl ace떠te, chloroform 및 물로 용매분획한 분획물로 항균성을 재검색한 결과, 사철쑥, 가죽나무 잎, 적송 잎, 씀바귀의 ethyl acetate 분획과 초피 잎과 마늘의 모 든 분획에서 비교적 높은 향균활성을 보였으며 가죽나무 잎의 ethyl acetate 분획 이 가장 높은 항균활성(6 nun)을 보였다. 한편 딸기의 저온저장중인 과육으로부터 두 종의 부패 세균을 분리하 여 각각 Staphylococcus sp. TG-IOI과 Staphylococcus sp. TG-I02 로 동정하였다. 이들 균주에 대한 항균성을 조사한 결과, 가죽나 무 잎의 ethyl acetate 분획에서 두 균주에 대하여 가장 높은 저 해효과(각각 6 mm, 7 nun)를 보였다.

Effect of Artemisiae Capillaris Herba on Anti-inflammatory Properties in RAW264.7 Cell Line

  • The present study was performed to examine the possible anti-inflammatory effects of a herbal drug ASCH in RAW264.7 cell line. Inflammation was induced by LPS toxin treatment to RAW264.7 macrophage cell line. Increases in cytokine production such as IL-1β, IL-6. and IL-18, COX-2, NOS-Ⅱ (iNOS), and TNF-alpha were observed at mRNA level in the LPS-treated RAW264.7 cells. Measurement of IL-6, nitric oxide and the reactive oxygen species (ROS) showed increased production of these inflammation mediators. Treatment of ASCH effectively decreased IL-1β protein in a dose-dependent manner, and IL-6 and IL-18 were reduced at 100㎍/㎖ of ASCH concentration. NO production was also decreased by ASCH treatment. A slight inhibition for TNF-alpha in terms of protein, but not mRNA level was obtained by 100㎍/㎖ of ASCH treatment. ASCH treatment to normal RAW264.7 cells did not produce any cytotoxicity, indicting that the action of ASCH was selective to inflammatory cells. Thus, the present data suggest that ASCH may act as an important regulator to alleviate the inflammatory symptoms.

인진, 울금, 구기자, 여정자 복합추출물(ACLL)의 항이상지질혈증 효능에 대한 실험적 연구 (Anti-dyslipidemic Effect of ACLL extract (Artemisia capillaris Thunb, Curcuma longa L, Lycium chinense, Ligustrum lucidum Aiton complex extract) on High Cholesterol Diet-induced Dyslipidemia in Mice)

  • Objectives : This study was aimed to investigate the effect of ACLL extract (Artemisia capillaris Thunb, Curcuma longa L, Lycium chinense, Ligustrum lucidum Aiton complex extract) in a dyslipidemia animal model induced by a high-fat diet. Methods : ACLL extracts was administered at 200 mg/kg, and 400 mg/kg to Apoe mice, where arthritis was induced by high cholesterol diet. After mice were treated with GO for 4 weeks, we measured AST, ALT, BUN and lipid levels (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride), atherogenic index(AI) and cardiac risk factor(CRF). Results : Serum AST, ALT, creatinine, BUN levels were not changed by ACLL extract do not show any toxic effects. Also, ACLL extract groups were found to have atherogenic Index and cardiac risk factor as well as lipid metabolism improvement (total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglyceride decrease). Conclusions : We suggest that ACLL extract may have the control effects of Dyslipidemia by improving lipid metabolism.

고지방 사료 급여 마우스에서 인진쑥 추출물의 항비만 효과 (Anti-Obestic Effects of Artemisiae Capillaris Herba, Artemisia Capillaris Stem Aqueous Extracts on the High Fat Diet Supplied Mice)

  • Artemisia capillaries THUNB is a perennial herb that belongs to the family compositae spp. and the most common plant among the various herbal folk remedies used in treatment of abdominal pain, hepatitis, chronic liver disease, jaundice and coughing in Korea. The object of this study is to observe the dosage-dependent anti-obestic effects of an aqueous extracts of dried aqueous extracts of stems of Artemisia capillaris Thunberg. [Artemisiae capillaris Herba, In-Jin in Korean, INJ] on 45%/Kcal high fat diet (HFD) supplied mice. 45%/Kcal rodent HFD are supplied to ICR mice from 1 week before initiation of INJ administration throughout the 12 weeks, and after the end of 12 weeks of 62.5, 125 and 250 mg/kg/day of INJ administration, the efficacy was divided into five categories 1) hypoglycemic, 2) hepato-protective, 3) nephroprotective, 4) hypolipemic, and 5) anti- obesity effects. The effects were compared to those of simvastatin (for hypolipemic activity), silymarin (for hepatoprotective and free radical scavenger effects) and metformin (for hypoglycemic and related anti-obesity effects). 7 animals per group (8 groups; total 56adapted mice on HFD were selected base on the body weight at 6 days after initiation of HFD supply) were used in this experiment. INJ and all three different reference drugs were directly suspended or dissolved in distilled water, and administered at a volume of 10 mL/kg, once a day for 84 days from 1 week after HFD supply. As results of 91 days of continuous HFD supply, mice showed marked obese states, hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia, liver damages and kidney damages. These mean the obesity, diabetes, diabetic hepatopathies, nephropathies and hyperlipemia were induced by HFD supply. After end of 84 days of continuous treatment of three different dosages of INJ, all diabetes related complications were inhibited; relatively favorable anti-obesity, hypolipemic, hepatoprotective, hypoglycemic and nephroprotective effects. These favorable effects showed relatively good dose-relations between all three different dosages of INJ treated, and INJ 250 mg/kg showed enough favorable effects on diabetes and related four complications tested as compared with one of each three different references. Otherwise, the efficacy of 62.5 and 125 mg/kg of INJ was somewhat slighter than those of all three reference drugs. Therefore, the suitable effective dosage of INJ is considered as 250 mg/kg/day in the present study. The overall anti-obesity effects of INJ 250 mg/kg-treated group was similar or more favorable than those of metformin 250 mg/kg-treated group, and INJ 250 mg/kg showed slighter hypoglycemic effects with silymarin 100 mg/kg and metformin 250 mg/kg, similar hypolipemic effects with simvastatin 10 mg/kg, and similar hepatoprotective effects with silymarin 100 mg/kg, and similar nephroprotective effects with that of silymarin 100 mg/kg and metformin 250 mg/kg, respectively. Obese, hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia, steatohepatitis and related nephropathies induced by HFD supply were dramatically inhibited by 84 days of continuous treatment of all three different dosages of INJ. It is, therefore expected that INJ extracts will be a favorable alternative agent for diet-related diabetes and complications.

낙동강변(洛東江邊)의 잡초식생(雜草植生)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Floristic Composition and Community Dynamics Along the Nakdong River)

  • 1989년(年)9월(月) 낙농강유역(洛東江流域) 38지점(地點)에서 총(總) 29과(科) 102종(種)의 잡초(雜草)가 조사(調査)되었다. 그 가운데 일년생(一年生) 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 54%, 다년생(多年生) 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 21%로 광엽잡초(廣葉雜草)가 전체(全體)의 72%를 점유(占有)하였다. 2차원적(次元的) 분류방법(分類方法)으로 환삼덩쿨(Humulus japonicum)군락(群落), 여뀌(Persicaria hydropiper)군락(群落), 고마리(Persicaria thunbergii)군락(群落), 사철쑥(Artemisia capillaris)군락(群落), 개여뀌 - 강아지풀 - 바랭이(Persicaria blumei - Setaria viridis - Digitaria sanguinalis)군락(群落), 갈대(Phragmites communis)군락(群落)이 조사(調査)되었다. 가장 큰 군락(群落)은 갈대 군락(群落)이었고, 총(總) 38 조사지점중(調査地點中) 15지점(地點)에서 갈대가 발생(發生)되었고 고마리, 환삼덩쿨, 개여뀌 등(等)의 잡초(雜草)들이 우점발생(優點發生)하였다.

Scoparone from Artemisia capillaris Inhibits the Release of Inflammatory Mediators in RAW 264.7 Cells upon Stimulation Cells by Interferon-${\gamma}$ Plus LPS

  • Scoparone is a major component of the shoot of Artemisia capillaris (Compositae), which has been used for the treatment of hepatitis and biliary tract infection in oriental countries. In the present study we observed that, scorparone exhibited no cytotoxic effect in unstimulated macrophages, but reduced the release of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin $E_2\;(PGE_2)$ upon stimulation by IFN-${\gamma}$/LPS or LPS. The inhibitory effects were found to be in conjuction with the suppression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in IFN-${\gamma}$/LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Moreover, scoparone also attenuated the production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$, interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$ and IL-6 in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. These results suggest that scoparone decreases the production of the inflammatory mediators such as NO and $PGE_2$ in macrophages by inhibiting iNOS and COX-2 expression.

한국산 쑥속의 체세포 염색체수에 의한 분류학적 연구 (A taxonomic study of Korean Artemisia L. using somatic chromosome numbers)

  • 한국산 쑥속 20분류군의 분류를 위하여 체세포 염색체수를 조사하였다. 본 연구에서 취급된 분류군들의 체세포 염색체수는 2n = 16, 18, 34, 36, 50, 52, 54로서 기본 염색체수는 x=8, 9, 10, 13, 17이었으며, 실제비쑥(A. japonica var. angustissima 2n = 36)의 체세포염색체수는 본 연구에서 처음으로 밝혀졌다. 사철쑥 (A. capillaris 2n = 18), 섬쑥(A. japonica var. hallaisanensis 2n = 36), 갯제비쑥(A. japonica subsp. littoricola 2n = 36), 개똥쑥(A. annua 2n = 18), 개사철쑥(A. carvifolia 2n = 18), 큰비쑥(A. fukudo 2n = 16), 맑은대쑥(A. keiskeana 2n = 18), 넓은잎외잎쑥(A. stolonifera 2n = 36), 그늘쑥(A. sylvatica 2n = 16), 물쑥(A. selengensis 2n = 36), 산쑥 (A. montana 2n = 52), 뺑쑥(A. lancea 2n = 16), 산흰쑥(A. sieversiana 2n = 18) 등의 13분류군의 염색체수는 기존 보고와 일치하였으며, 기존 보고와 다르게 파악된 종류는 제비쑥(A. japonica var. japonica 2n = 18, 36 vs 2n = 36), 더위지기(A. sacrorum 2n = 18, 54 vs 2n = 54), 덤불쑥(A. rubripes 2n = 16, 34 vs 2n = 16), 쑥(A. indica 2n = 34, 36 vs 2n = 34), 참쑥(A. codonocephala 2n = 18, 50, 54 vs 2n = 50), 황해쑥(A. argyi 2n = 34, 36, 50 vs 2n = 34)의 6분류군이었다. 한국산 쑥속의 체세포 염색체수는 제비쑥, 더위지기, 참쑥, 황해쑥, 산쑥, 그늘쑥의 분류에 매우 유용한 형질이었다.

삽주의 18S rRNA 유전자의 염기서열 결정, 계통분류학적 분석 및 atractylon 분석 (DNA Sequencing and Phylogenetic Analysis of the 18S rRNA Gene of Atractylodes japonica Koidz and Analysis of Atractylon)

  • The region containing 18S rRNA gene, ITS 1 and part of the 5.8S rRNA gene of the Atractylodes japonica Koidz was amplified by PCR and the product cloned in a pBluescript SK II plasmid. DNA sequence of the cloned DNA was determined and submitted to the GenBank (accession number EU678363). Phylogenetic analysis of the ITS 1 DNA showed close similarity with the other plant species of the family Compositae. The extract of the plant materials of five different members of the family Compositae was analyzed by HPLC to detect atractylon. Extract of the A. japonica Koidz showed presence of significant amount of atractylon. However, noticeable amount of atractylon was not detected by the same analyses from the extracts of the other plants belonging to the family Compositae including Artemisia capillaris, Chrysantemum zawadskii, Eclipta prostrata or Taraxacum platycarpum.

  • In yang brightness disease, Capillaris dedoction, Phellodendron dedoction and Ephedra forsythia rice bean dedoction treat generallized yellowing yellow inhibited urination, absence of sweating, thirst, and abdominal fullness. Basic lesser yang disease pattern with bitter taste in the mouse dry throat dizzy vision alternating aversion to cold and heat effusion chest and rib-side fullness taciturnity with no desire to eat heart vexation frequent retching and pulse that is fine and stringlike treat with Minor bupleurum dedoction. Three yin disease should be treated by warming the spleen and drying dampness, requiring urgent warming, using formulae such as Center-rectifying dedoction, Aconite dedoction and Counterflow cold dedoction.
