Finally, the logistics cost will be effectively managed through establishing its logistics information strategy which maximizes the utilization of the information technologies. The case study of 'A' electronics company shows that its logistics management system provides the company with various visibilities about its logistics cost and the direct and indirect benefits over billions of wons per year as well. Therefore we can conclude that the research model provided in this research is validated. This study presents the concrete implementation strategies of the logistics information system and verifies the validity of the strategies by means of the case study of a leading company.

  • With the recent introduction of supply chain management (SCM), quality management has extended from within companies to between companies. As a result, supply chain quality management (SCQM) has received increased attention. However, existing SCQM studies only focus on what impact quality control in supply chains have on company performance while virtually no studies examine quality control efficiencies. This paper, therefore, evaluated the SCQM efficiency of a parent company and its partner companies by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based on the Quality Collaboration Index for Supply Chain Management (QCI-SCM) conducted by the Korean Standards Association for its 'Quality Innovation-Based Building and Expansion of Business.' Study results showed that a parent company and its partners showed an overall average efficiency of approximately 80% (parent company 80.37%, partner company 79.05%). By also performing a discriminant analysis based on the calculated efficiency scores using DEA, factors that made companies efficient or inefficient were different between the two groups. In parent companies, efficiency and inefficiency were determined by factors such as communication, infra-structure, support, delivery of quality, and benefit sharing, whereas in partner companies, talent development, infrastructure, crisis management, and delivery of quality were the determining factors. In this paper, we examined the efficiency of SCQM and analyzed them from the perspective of both the parent company and partner companies to offer strategic SCQM insights.

  • This paper investigates the effect of environmental performance and environmental management on firm value using financial performance as mediation variable. There are still inconsistencies in research on environmental performance and environmental management and their impact on company value. This research used a quantitative approach involving secondary data. The variables used are environmental performance, environmental management, company financial performance, and company value. Multiple regression was used because it allowed the researchers to examine the relationship of each variable contained in the research framework by describing all of the direct effects (non-mediated effects) and the indirect effects of the research variables. The research sample consisted of 144 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2012 to 2017. Statistically, this study found that there was no direct effect that had a significant impact on environmental performance and firm value, and found that there is a significant direct effect of environmental management variables on firm value. Improved environmental management by the company is proven to increase the value of the company directly. This paper found that, not only does an increase in stakeholder trust happen when a company increases its environmental awareness, but there is also an increase in the financial aspects of the company.

  • Circular shareholdings among three companies are formed when company A owns stock in company B, company B owns stock in company C, and company C owns stock in company A. Since circular shareholdings among large family-controlled firms are used to give the controlling shareholder greater control or more opportunities to expropriate minority investors, the government has encouraged large business groups to gradually remove their circular shareholdings. In this paper, we propose a combinatorial optimization model that can answer the question, which equity investments among complicated investment relationships of one large business group should be removed to resolve its circular shareholdings. To the best knowledge of the authors, our research is the first one that has approached the circular shareholding problem in respect of management science. The proposed combinatorial optimization model are formulated into integer programming problem and applied to some Korean major business groups.

  • The Q-cost has been used in the manufacturing company to decide the optimal level of company's product quality, and to evaluate the effect of company's quality control system since the advent of Q-cost theory. In spite of the following costs are generated in the user side, owing to an unsuitable level of product quality and inadequacy of company's quality control system, these costs are not usually included in the company's Q-cost : (1) the cost generated in relation to a claim proposal as traffic expeneses and transpotation of the product. (2) the cost of maintenance through the useful life of the product, especially accured after quality warranty period. (3) the cost related to the economical efficiency in using the product. (4) the cost ralated to a customer dissatisfaction for the product quality. In this point of view, the contents of user side Q-cost, and the relations between the user side Q-cost and the level of company's product quality are discussed.
