  • The aim of this study is to investigate the ductile fracture behavior under mixed mode (I/II) loading using SA533B pressure vessel steel. Anti-symmetric 4-point (AS4P) bending tests were performed to obtain the J-R curves under two different mixed mode (I/II) loadings. In addition, finite element analysis using Rousselier Ductile Damage Theory was carried out to predict the J-R curves under mixed mode (I/II) loadings. In conclusions, the J-R curves under. Mixed Mode (I/II) loading were located between those of Mode I and Mode II loading. When the mixity of mixed mode (I/II) loading was high, the J-R curve of mixed mode (I/II) loading approached that of pure mode I loading after some amount of crack propagation. In contrast with the above fact, if the mixity was low, the J-R curve took after that of pure mode II loading. Finally, it was found that the predicted J-R curves made a good agreement with the test data through the tuning procedures of $\beta$ values at the different mixed mode (I/II) loading.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze dose comparison and image quality evaluation according to Volume and Helical mode using ATOM Phantom. It is to actively use the Volume mode in pediatric CT examinations. There was no significant difference with Helical and Volume in the value of Noise, HU, SNR(p>0.05). All dose values was no statistical difference(p>0.05). In the value of DLP and effective dose by part, Volume mode was measured lower than Helical mode. For qualitative analysis, by scan parameter helical mode showed respectively 2.6, 3.3, 4.36 and Volume mode indicated 2.8, 3.64, 4.44 point. Image evaluation for the follow-up, Helical mode and Volume mode were respectively 3.8 and 3.83. In fact, There was no significant difference. In CT scans in children under 5 years, because 640-MDCT Volume scan dose compared with Helical mode is lower and there is no significant difference with two modes in the image quality, 640-MDCT Volume scan is thought to be useful for pediatric CT scans.

  • We propose a fast macroblock mode prediction and decision algorithm based on contextual information for Pslices in the H.264/AVC video standard, in which the mode prediction part is composed of intra and inter modes. There are nine $4{\times}4$ and four $16{\times}16$ modes in the intra mode prediction, and seven block types exist for the best coding gain based on rate-distortion optimization. This scheme gives rise to exhaustive computations (search) in the coding procedure. To overcome this problem, a fast inter mode prediction scheme is applied that uses contextual mode information for P-slices. We verify the performance of the proposed scheme through a comparative analysis of experimental results. The suggested mode search procedure increased more than 57% in speed compared to a full mode search and more than 20% compared to the other methods.

In contrast with the above fact, if the mixture ratio was low, the J-R curve looked after that of pure mode II loading. The fractographic evidences such as the shape of dimples under different loading conditions supported these conclusions.

  • In this paper, we propose a dual-mode frequency tripler using push-push and stacked FET structures. The proposed circuit can operate either in frequency multiplier mode or in amplifier mode. In the frequency multiplier mode, push-push frequency multiplication is achieved by allowing input signals with particular phase shifts. In the amplifier mode, the device operates as a distributed amplifier to obtain high gain. Also both modes were designed using stacked FET structure. The designed circuit showed frequency tripled output power of 9.7 dBm at 2.4 GHz with the input at 800 MHz. On the other hand, in the amplifier mode, the device showed 8.9 dB of gain to generate 19.5 dBm at 800 MHz.

  • Due to its impressive compression performance, the H.264 video coder is highlighted in the video communications industry, such as DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), PMP (Portable Multimedia Player), etc. The main bottleneck to use the H.264 coder lays in the computational complexity, i.e. five times more complex than the market leading MPEG-4 Simple Profile codec. In this paper, we propose the hierarchical mode decision method for intraframe coding for the reduction of the computation complexity of the encoder. By determining the mode group early, the propose algorithm can skip the computationally demanding computation in the mode decision. The proposed algorithm is composed of three steps: $16{\times}16$ mode decision, $4{\times}4$ mode-group decisions, and final mode decision among the selected mode group. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves 20% to 50% reduction in the computational complexity compared with the conventional algorithm.
