Moderating Effect of Internet Activity on Privacy Attitude and Expectations of the fourth Industrial Revolution

  • In this study, we explored consumers' the privacy attitudes and Internet activities on the expectations of the fourth industrial revolution. Furthermore, we examined the moderating effect of Internet activities between the privacy attitudes and the expectations of the fourth industrial revolution. Research data are 2018 Korea media panel survey provided by Korea Information Society Development Institute. As a result, concerns about privacy were negative on the expectations of the fourth industrial revolution. Consumer's internet activities had a positive effect on the expectations of the fourth industrial revolution. Concerns about privacy have a negative effect on the expectations of the fourth industrial revolution, but active internet activities have mitigated it or turned it into a positive. This study will contribute as basic data for more active responses in the economic structure facing the 4th industrial revolution.

  • The current research suggests a new industry and employment structure accelerated by the 4th industrial revolution. An in-depth analysis on relevant researches and a macro analysis on industry and employment structure change have been performed. Past and present industrial revolutions have been reviewed based on the nature of employment and industry structure. With technological advances and increase in productivity, the services industry has developed during the 1st and 2nd industrial revolutions. Moreover, in the 4th industrial revolution era, more changes are expected within the services industry. A new U-model has been derived and a service economy acceleration model has been suggested. This research can be used for deriving desirable industry and economic policy. Future research is needed to develop a detailed solution for human resource management strategy for service economy in the 4th industrial revolution era.

  • Japan has established a strategic and concrete plan to respond in advance to the forthcoming Industrial Revolution era. The Fourth Industrial Revolution Strategy in Japan is divided into two types of strategies of utilizing strength and complementing weaknesses. The former belongs to 'real data utilization' and 'new robot development', and the latter belongs to 'global issues Solution'. In particular, the Japanese government is more aggressive than any other country in introducing the Japanese version of the Regulatory Sandbox system as a social verification system for the realization of the Society 5.0, which is regarded as the cornerstone of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This study examines the key strategies presented in the main documents relating to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and based on this consideration, we propose a suggestion worthy of reference when Korea develops the response strategy of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Fourth Industrial Revolution and SME Supporting Policy (4차 산업혁명과 중소기업 지원정책)

  • The purpose of this study is to contemplate the environmental change of the fourth industrial revolution in viewpoint of SME, and to analyze the relevance between the fourth industrial revolution and SME, thereby reviewing the governmental supporting policy for SME. Promising fields of the fourth industrial revolution can be derived from WEF survey, manufacturing innovation, and new growth engine. Also the case of GE's movement could be a good reference. We explored the relevance between the fourth industrial revolution and SME supporting policy, and described the suitability as SME's next item among the various promising fields. When extracting new business items by using the factor of prospective and appropriate conditions, both types such as product or service and subordinate or derivative items would be possible. For the proper action to the fourth industrial revolution, not only the competence enhancing of SME itself but also positive supporting policy of government side are to be considered.

Assessing the Relationship Between Core Technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Company Sales (4차 산업혁명 핵심기술과 기업의 매출액 간 상관관계 평가)

  • To bridge the research gap in the area of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we explore the correlation between the core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the economic performance of companies. The results show that the technologies have a statistically significant positive (+) correlation with company sales. The size of the correlation is highest for 3D printing (139%), followed by big data (129%), cloud computing (127%), artificial intelligence (78%), and the internet of things (70%). We also found a statistically significant negative (-) interaction effect between the internet of things and 3D printing, cloud computing and big data, and cloud computing and 3D printing when examining the interaction effect of introducing core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on company sales. This paper represents an early attempt to examine the correlation between the core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the economic performance of companies and may serve as a basis for further empirical research.

  • 4차 산업혁명 기술의 핵심은 클라우드, 인공지능 및 빅데이터이다. 더욱 효과적인 재단경보 서비스를 위해 재난경보 시스템에 4차 산업혁명기술의 적용이 요구된다. 민방위경보를 포함한 재난경보 시스템의 목표는 다양한 정부기관이 발령한 경보를 효과적으로 국민에게 전달하는 것이다. 효과적인 재난경보를 위해 전달망의 높은 안정성, 유연성, 통합성, 포괄성이 요구된다. 이 논문은 효과적 재난경보를 위해 4차 산업혁명 기술을 적용한 5G/6G 이동통신 네트워크의 일부 구조를 차용하는 차세대 재난경보 플랫폼을 제시한다.

  • The Fourth Industrial Revolution is the super-connected-based intelligent revolution, which is triggered by intelligence information technology such as AI and IoT. Radical changes in industrial structure being expected, major developed countries are counteracting it by preparing strategies to enhance industrial competitiveness for taking the lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Korea's national preparations, however, are considered to be insufficient, as it ranks only $25^{th}$ in the world. In compliance with the issue, preparing relevant policies and strategies such as establishment of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Committee, government diagnoses the pending issue of information and communication industry and arranges countermeasures so that it intends to gain competitiveness in the industry and lays a foundation for leading the market.

  • In the era of the 3rd Offset Strategy led by the 4th Industrial Revolution, the use of robots with AI and autonomous abilities is becoming more active in military field. The 3rd Offset Strategy is based on the technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and S. Korea is heavily dependent on US military technology and is directly and indirectly influenced by the military revolutionary strategy and the alliance relationship. There are many issues that need to be addressed beyond technical maturity for both strategies to be successfully applied in the military. However, there are few discussions about these limitations in many studies and media reports in comparison with the advantages of the techniques. This research describes robot ethics & technology unbalance, problems of autonomous functions, display fatigue induced by VR/AR/MR, cyber/network security to be solved for successful strategies, also the solutions are addressed.

4차 산업혁명시대의 소비자이슈와 소비자정책

  • 4차 산업혁명과 관련하여 대두되는 핵심기술로 인공지능, 로봇, 빅데이터, 사물인터넷(IoT), 가상현실(VR)과 증강현실(AR), 자율주행자동차, 드론, 3D 프린팅, 블록체인 등을 들고 있다. 과거와 현재는 생산자가 최적의 비용으로 고성능 고품질 상품과 서비스를 제공했으나 4차 산업 혁명 시대는 소비자가 제품의 종류 및 특성, 생산 시점 등 전 과정에 관여하고 상품 자체보다 상품이 제공하는 가치를 중시하게 될 것으로 예상되고 있다. 이처럼 생산자 중심에서 소비자 중심으로 소비 트렌드가 변한 것은 AI, IoT, VR, 3D 프린팅 등 4차 산업혁명의 기술혁명이 지대한 기여를 했기 때문으로 볼 수 있다. 이처럼 다양한 제품과 서비스에서 새로운 유형의 소비자문제도 발생하고 기존의 소비자문제도 발생할 수 있으므로 이에 대한 체계적인 검토로 사전 예방적인 소비자정책과 사후구제의 소비자정책 모두 새롭게 정립해 두어야 한다. 사전예방적인 소비자정책으로는 (1) 위해방지, (2) 규격의 적정화, (3) 거래의 적정화, (4) 표시광고의 적정화, (5)소비자정보제공의 충실화 및 소비자능력의 향상을 위한 소비자교육의 강화, (6) 개인정보보호의 강화가 필요하다. 사후구제의 소비자정책으로는 (1) 소비자분쟁해결기준의 정비, (2) 피해구제 관련 법률의 제정이나 개정 등이 필요하다.
