Rainfall Interception by and Quantitative Models for Urban Landscape Trees - For Seven Native Species - (도시조경수의 우수차집 효과와 계량모델 - 7개 향토수종을 대상으로 -)

  • This study developed quantitative models to estimate the rainfall interception by seven native landscape tree species based on throughfall measurements. The tree species considered in this study were Abies holophylla, Acer palmatum, Ginkgo biloba, Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis, Prunus yedoensis, and Zelkova serrata, which are frequently planted in the Korea. Among these species, 35.8% of the annual precipitation was intercepted by P. koraiensis, 34.1% by A. holophylla, 31.0% by Z. serrata, 27.6% by P. densiflora, 26.9% by G. biloba, 18.6% by A. palmatum, and 18.4% by P. yedoensis. All the quantitative models showed high fitness with r2 values of 0.90-0.99. The annual rainfall interception from a tree with DBH of 20 cm were greatest with Z. serrata (5.1 m3/yr), followed by P. koraiensis (4.1 m3/yr), A. holophylla (3.1 m3/yr), G. biloba (2.8 m3/yr), P. densiflora (2.1 m3/yr), P. yedoensis (1.9 m3/yr), and A. palmatum (1.8 m3/yr) in order. Thus, evergreen tree species or those with a relatively high crown density were more effective in intercepting rainfall. In particular, the annual rainfall interception by Z. serrata was the greatest because its crown area, volume, and density were higher than those of the other species. This study pioneers in quantifying annual rainfall interception for landscape tree species in Korea. The study results can be useful for evaluating rainfall interception by landscape trees in urban greenspace design for governments and corporations.

Myocardial Perfusion after Transmyocardial Mechanical Revascularization in Rat Heart Transplant Model, Acute Model (백서 동종이식 심장모델에서 기계적 경심근 혈관재형성의 심근 혈류 개선 효과 : 급성기 모델)

  • Transmyocardial revascularization (TMR) in end stage ischemic heart disease results in variable clinical responses. We investigated the acute effect of early reperfusion and the angiogenesis after formation of the transmyocardial channel in a transplanted rat heart model with acute myocardial infarction. Material and Method: In the 30 transplanted hearts we induced acute myocardial infarction by ligating the proximal left coronary artery and inserted a porous 22G intravenous cannula into the left ventricle. After ten minutes of reperfusion, we removed the cannula. At every stage, we recorded the heart rate, QRS size, and left coronary arterial blood flow using the electrocardiogram and Doppler. One week later the rats were sacrificed and evaluated for the patency of intramyocardial channels and the angiogenesis. Result: The heart rates after ligation and after cannula insertion were $239.1\pm61.7,\;235.8\pm58.0bpm$ respectively, and they were statistically significantly slower than that of before ligation, $277.6\pm40.3bpm\;(p=0.017,\;p=0.007\;respectively)$. QRS sizes before ligation, after ligation, and after cannula insertion were $3.6\pm3.3mm,\;2.8\pm3.3 mm,\;and\;2.4\pm2.2mm,$respectively, and there was no significant difference in the three groups. Doppler findings after ligation showed that average peak and mean values of coronary perfusion were significantly decreased from $2.11\pm0.17kHz,\;1.25\pm0.22kHz\;to\;0.83\pm0.15kHz,\;0.38\pm0.11kHz$(p<0.05 respectively). After insertion of the porous cannula, the average peak and mean values of coronary perfusion were $0.61\pm0.05kHz\;and\;0.33\pm0.05 kHz$ respectively, but there was no statistically significant change compared to values after ligation. In all cases except one, pathologic findings showed no patent channels in the acute stage, however, one case showed the angiogenesis. Conclusion: We confirmed that TMR in a rat heart transplant model did not show blood flow through the channel in the acute stage. However, reperfusion effect in some cases had a potential for angiogenesis.

산성강하물 피해예상 산림토양의 이화학적 특성과 산성우에 의한 이들 토양의 화학성 변화

  • 산성강하물이 산림토양에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 오염이 우려되는 공단지역(울산, 여천)과 대도시지역(서울, 부산), 그리고 비오염지역인 대조지역(평창, 삼천포)을 대상으로 이들 지역의 산림토양의 특성을 조사하였다. 또한, 이들지역 각각을 대표할 수 있는 산림토양에 인공산성비를 유출시켜 토양의 화학적 성질의 변화를 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. - 조사지역별 토성분포는 일정한 경향을 보이지 않았으며, 전체 조사지역 토성은 양토(29.0%), 식양토(22.9%), 사양토(18.3%) 3종류가 분포율이 높았고, 이들이 전체의 70.2%를 차지하였다. - 조사지역 전체 산림토양 표토의 pH($H_2O$)는 4.41~5.14 범위로 평균 4.49이고, 심토의 pH($H_2O$)는 4.54 ~ 5.22 범위로 평균 4.69이었다. 지역별로 보면 공단지역(4.44) < 대도시지역(4.57) < 대조지역(5.08) 순서로 토양 pH가 낮은 경향을 나타냈다. - 염기포화도는 3.07 ~ 21.83% 범위이고, 평균값은 7.71%이었다. 지역별 비교에서는 대조지역(19.14%) > 공단지역(6.54%) > 대도시지역(5.60%) 순서로 높은 경향을 보였다. - 치환성 Al 함량은 2.13 ~ 5.59cmol(+)/kg 범위이고 평균 4.62cmol(+)/kg이었다. 지역별 비교에서는 대조지역(2.34) < 대도시지역(3.23) < 공단지역(5.20) 순서로 낮은 경향을 나타냈다. - 4종의 인공산성우(pH 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 및 5.6)를 산림토양에 유출시킨 결과 인공산성우의 유출량이 증가함에 따라 토양유출액의 pH 감소, 토양염기의 유실이 지속적으로 나타났고, AL과 Mn의 용탈량이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었는데, 이러한 현상은 pH 3.0 인공산성우 유출시에 시작되어 pH 2.0에서 뚜렸하였다. - 인공산성우 토양유출 실험결과 울산, 남산 및 평창토양은 H 부하량의 증가에 따른 치환성염기 및 Al과 Mn의 용탈양상은 Sigmoid curve인 y = a/{1+exp(-c+bx)} 모델식에 따랐다.

Design of Face Recognition Algorithm based Optimized pRBFNNs Using Three-dimensional Scanner (최적 pRBFNNs 패턴분류기 기반 3차원 스캐너를 이용한 얼굴인식 알고리즘 설계)

  • In this paper, Face recognition algorithm is designed based on optimized pRBFNNs pattern classifier using three-dimensional scanner. Generally two-dimensional image-based face recognition system enables us to extract the facial features using gray-level of images. The environmental variation parameters such as natural sunlight, artificial light and face pose lead to the deterioration of the performance of the system. In this paper, the proposed face recognition algorithm is designed by using three-dimensional scanner to overcome the drawback of two-dimensional face recognition system. First face shape is scanned using three-dimensional scanner and then the pose of scanned face is converted to front image through pose compensation process. Secondly, data with face depth is extracted using point signature method. Finally, the recognition performance is confirmed by using the optimized pRBFNNs for solving high-dimensional pattern recognition problems.

Adsorption Characteristics of Non-degradable Eosin Y Dye by Carbon Nano Tubes (Carbon Nano Tubes에 의한 난분해성 염료 Eosin Y의 흡착 특성)

  • Adsorption characteristics of Eosin Y dye by carbon nano tubes (CNTs) were examined through batch experiments. CNTs used in the study had specific surface area of $106.9m^2/g$, porosity volume of $1.806cm^3/g$, and porosity diameter of $163.2{\AA}$, respectively. Adsorption experiments were carried out as function of contact time, initial solution pH (2~10), dye concentration (100, 150 and 200 mg/L), adsorbent dose (0.05~1.0 g) and temperature (293, 313 and 333 K). The adsorption was favoured at lower pHs and temperatures. Adsorption data were well described by the Langmuir model. The adsorption process followed the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The adsorption capacity decreased with increase in temperature. The results of the intraparticle diffusion model suggested that film diffusion and particle diffusion were simultaneously occured during the adsorption process. Thermodynamic studies suggested the spontaneous and endothermic nature of adsorption of Eosin Y dye onto CNTs.

Reservoir Trophic State and Empirical Model Analysis, Based on Nutrients, Transparency, and Chlorophyll-${\alpha}$ Along with Their Relations Among the Parameters (영양염류, 투명도 및 엽록소를 이용한 인공호 영양상태, 경험적 모델 분석 및 변수들 간의 상호관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine trophic state, based on nutrients (TN, TP), transparency (SD), and chlorophyll-${\alpha}$ (Chl) and identify their empirical relations of TN-Chl, TP-Chl and Chl-SD depending on the dataset used along with dynamics of conductivity and suspended solids. Analysis of trophic states showed that more than half of 36 reservoirs were judged as eutrophic-hypertrophic conditions depending on the trophic variables. Seasonal values of TP varied by nearly 500% and showed greater in August than any other months. In contrast, TN varied within less than 90% and all monthly mean values of TN were never fall less than 1.2 mg L$^{-1}$ indicating low seasonal variations and high ambient concentrations (eutrophic-hypertrophic state). Analysis of empirical relations in the trophic variables showed that transparency had greater functional relations with Chl (R$^2$=0.31, p<0.001) than TP (R$^2$=0.15, p<0.001) and TN (R$^2$=0.20, p<0.001). Ratios of TN : TP in the ambient water indicated that most reservoirs showed a potential phosphorous limitation on the algal growth. Thus, algal biomass, based on Chl values, was more regulated by phosphorous than nitrogen. Analysis of linear regression model, based on log-transformed annual mean values, showed that only 30% in the variation of Chl was explained by TP (R$^2$=0.295, p=0.001, n=36) and 15% by TN (R$^2$=0.151, p=0.019, n=36). However, linear regression model, based on individual system, showed that Chl-TP model had strong positive relations (R$^2$=0.62, p=0.002, n=12), whereas the model had no any relations (p=0.892, n=12). Overall, our data suggested that averaging effect in the empirical model developments may influence the significance in the statistical analysis.

Effects of Competency Model Based Education Program on Risk Behavior and Competences for Preventing Adolescents' Risk Behavior for Adolescents (역량모델 중심 교육프로그램이 청소년의 위험행동과 위험행동 예방 역량에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of competency model based education program on risk behavior and competences for preventing adolescents' risk behavior in adolescents. A quasi-experimental design was employed in this study. Participants for the study were middle school students, 30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. A study was also done between September and December 2010. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN. 15.0 program with ${\chi}^2$ test, t-test and two-way ANOVA. Participants in the competency model based education program reported significantly different both the competency for prevention of risk behavior scores (F=11.25, p=.001) and the risk behavior scores (F=16.01, p<.001) from those in the control group. The competency model based education program was effective in increasing competency for prevention of risk behavior and in decreasing risk behavior for adolescents. Therefore, this approach is recommended as a risk behavior prevention strategy for adolescents.

  • 연구 I에서 수행한 소뇌모델 선형조합 신경망(CMLAN)의 분석 결과와 제안된 능률적 학습 알고리즘들에 의거하여 이차원 비선형 함수치의 출력 모의시험과 팔의 형태에 따라 두개의 목적치를 갖는 2 자유도 머니퓨레이터의 동작지령 산출 모의시험을 행하였다. 특히 2 자유도 머니퓨레이터의 경우, 작업공간에 적절한 입력네트의 변수를 선정하고 하나의 입력공간을 공유하는 두개의 세부 소뇌모델 선형조합 신경망을 서로 연결하는 구조로써 팔의 형태와 목적 지점에 따라 네트를 선정하는 구조를 갖도록 하였다. 제안한 학습 알고리즘의 성능 및 CMLAN의 학습에 따른 효과를 학습이득에 따라 컴퓨터로 모의시험하였으며 그 결과를 분석하였다. 잘 알려진 신경망인 BACK-PROPAGATION 다층(Multi-Layer) 신경망과 함수연결 신경망(Functional Link Net)을 이용한 모의시험 결과를 비교 분석하였다. CMLAN의 학습 능률성은 학습에 소요되는 컴퓨터의 cpu시간과 학습 중의시스템의 최대 편차와 RMS 편차의 변이도 및 최종 시스템 수렴치로서 나타내었다.

Effect of n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio on metabolic partitioning in hyperlipidemic rats (n-6/n-3 지방산 비율이 고지혈증 랫드의 지질대사 분할에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was investigated the mechanism of action of n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio on the metabolic partitioning of blood glycerolipids by in vivo monitoring technique in hyperlipidemic animal model rats. The ratio of cholesteryl 14C-oleate metabolized in the liver of total glycerolipids was lower in the order of n-6/n-3 ratios of 4:1, 15:1, 30:1 and control group (p<0.05). The secretion amount of phospholipid was higher in the order of n-6/n-3 ratio 4:1, 15:1, 30:1 than the control (p<0.05). The secretion amount of triglyceride was lower in especially 4:1, in order of n-6/n-3 4:1, 15:1 and 30:1 compared with the control. The ratio of phospholipid partitioning to total glycerolipid was high in orfer of n-6/n-3 ratio 4:1, 15:1, 30:1 and control (p<0.05). The triacylglycerol partitioning (%) via liver was higher 72.97, 75.93, 78.12% in n-6/n-3 4;1, 15:1, 30:1, respectively than the control of 82.25%, according to increased n-6/n-3 (p<0.05). The phospholipid partitioning (%) was lower 25.15, 18.87, 18.15% in n-6/n-3 4;1, 15:1, 30:1, respectively, compared to control 11.04%, according to increased n-6/n-3 (p<0.05).

Correlation between MR Image-Based Radiomics Features and Risk Scores Associated with Gene Expression Profiles in Breast Cancer (유방암에서 자기공명영상 근거 영상표현형과 유전자 발현 프로파일 근거 위험도의 관계)

  • Purpose To investigate the correlation between magnetic resonance (MR) image-based radiomics features and the genomic features of breast cancer by focusing on biomolecular intrinsic subtypes and gene expression profiles based on risk scores. Materials and Methods We used the publicly available datasets from the Cancer Genome Atlas and the Cancer Imaging Archive to extract the radiomics features of 122 breast cancers on MR images. Furthermore, PAM50 intrinsic subtypes were classified and their risk scores were determined from gene expression profiles. The relationship between radiomics features and biomolecular characteristics was analyzed. A penalized generalized regression analysis was performed to build prediction models. Results The PAM50 subtype demonstrated a statistically significant association with the maximum 2D diameter (p = 0.0189), degree of correlation (p = 0.0386), and inverse difference moment normalized (p = 0.0337). Among risk score systems, GGI and GENE70 shared 8 correlated radiomic features (p = 0.0008-0.0492) that were statistically significant. Although the maximum 2D diameter was most significantly correlated to both score systems (p = 0.0139, and p = 0.0008), the overall degree of correlation of the prediction models was weak with the highest correlation coefficient of GENE70 being 0.2171. Conclusion Maximum 2D diameter, degree of correlation, and inverse difference moment normalized demonstrated significant relationships with the PAM50 intrinsic subtypes along with gene expression profile-based risk scores such as GENE70, despite weak correlations.
