This paper proposes a method for motion estimation of consecutive cameras using 3-D straight lines. The motion estimation algorithm uses two non-parallel 3-D line correspondences to quickly establish an initial guess for the relative pose of adjacent frames, which requires less correspondences than that of current approaches requiring three correspondences when using 3-D points or 3-D planes. The estimated motion is further refined by a nonlinear optimization technique with inlier correspondences for higher accuracy. Since there is no dominant line representation in 3-D space, we simulate two line representations, which can be thought as mainly adopted methods in the field, and verify one as the best choice from the simulation results. We also propose a simple but effective 3-D line fitting algorithm considering the fact that the variance arises in the projective directions thus can be reduced to 2-D fitting problem. We provide experimental results of the proposed motion estimation system comparing with state-of-the-art algorithms using an open benchmark dataset.
This paper presents simulations of the pancake in the simplified 3D microwave oven. The results were compared with experimental data. For the comparison we used infrared photography of the heated pancake and electric field distribution obtained by simulation. Finite Element Method (FEM) using edge element is employed for the simulation. For solving the large sparse system parallelled QMR method was used.

As demonstrated in study for non-submerged groynes, the flow field is predominantly two-dimensional, with mainly horizontal eddies. The eddies shed form the tips of the groynes and migrate in the flow direction. These eddies have horizontal dimensions in the order of tens of meters and time-scales in the order of minutes. In the standard flow simulations, these motions are usually not resolved, due to a too coarse grid, too large time steps and, more importantly, the use of inadequate turbulence modelling. using for example a k-${\varepsilon}$ model, it is necessary to introduce substantial modifications. Therefore simulation resolved in this study, were carried out using the DELFT-3D-MOR programme, which is part of the DELFT3D software package of WL/Delft Hydraulics and In this study, apply a two-dimensional depth-averaged model, taking an horizontal large eddy simulation(HLES). The bed morphology computed when using HLES, as well as the associated time-scale, is similar to what has been obseved in a field case. When using a mean-flow model with-out HELS, the bed morphology is less realistic and the morphological time-scale is much larger. This slow development is the result of neglecting(or averaging). the strong velocity fluctuations associated with the time-varying eddy formation.

The effect of channel doping on L-shaped Tunneling Field-Effect Transistors (TFETs) have been investigated by 2D TCAD simulation. When the source doping is over $10^{20}cm^{-3}$, the subthreshold swing (SS) is abruptly decreased, and when drain doping concentration is below $10^{18}cm^{-3}$, the leakage current in the negative voltage is reduced.
The blockage effect on the aerodynamic characteristics of tall buildings is a fundamental issue in wind tunnel test but has rarely been addressed. To evaluate the blockage effects on the aerodynamic forces on a square tall building and flow field peripherally, large eddy simulations (LES) were performed on a 3D square cylinder with an aspect ratio of 6:1 under the uniform smooth inflow and turbulent atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) inflow generated by the narrowband synthesis random flow generator (NSRFG). First, a basic case at a blockage ratio (BR) of 0.8% was conducted to validate the adopted numerical methodology. Subsequently, simulations were systematically performed at 6 different BRs. The simulation results were compared in detail to illustrate the differences induced by the blockage, and the mechanism of the blockage effects under turbulent inflow was emphatically analysed. The results reveal that the pressure coefficients, the aerodynamic forces, and the Strouhal number increase monotonically with BRs. Additionally, the increase of BR leads to more coherence of the turbulent structures and the higher intensity of the vortices in the vicinity of the building. Moreover, the blockage effects on the aerodynamic forces and flow field are more significant under smooth inflow than those under turbulent inflow.

Recently, the on-off solenoid valves have been focused on core technology in the fields of the production line of semi-conductor chips and the micro fluid chips for bio-medical applications. A key characteristics for on-off solenoid valve, operated by compressed air, are high speed response and great repeatability. Indeed, it is also important to keep the pressure on the cross-sectional area of the poppet to be constant regardless of the fluctuation of the pressure exerted on the ports. In this study, we have designed and analysed the high-speed and high flow rate on-off solenoid valve using the analogy of equivalent magnetic circuit and Finite Element Method (FEM) respectively. In case of poppet, flow field characteristics was analyzed by the variation of poppet and it was able to display flow field by changing the location of the poppet. Also, we verified possibility of the design through the static and dynamic pressure and the 3D simulation using distribution curve of the force by working the front poppet.
Vector field has been commonly used to visualize the data set which is invisible or is hard to explain. For instance, it could be used to visualize scientific data such as the direction and amount of wind and water field, transfer of heat through thermally conductive materials, and electromagnetic field. In this paper, we present a technique to enable intuitive recognition of the data though haptic feedback along with visual feedback. To add tactile information to graphical vector field, we model a haptic vector field and then apply it to the haptic map to guide a user to destination and haptic simulation of water field on 2D images whish can be used ill everyday life. These systems allow one to recognize vector information intuitively through haptic interface. We expect that the haptic rendering technique of vector field can be applied to various applications such as education, training, and entertainment.

The grain growth is very important because of its great influence on the various materials properties. Therefore, in this study, the effects of anisotropic grain boundary energy on grain growth in 2-D have been investigated with a large scale phase field simulation model on PC. A $2000{\times}2000$ grid system and the initial number of grains of about 73,000 were used in the computer simulation. The anisotropic ratio of grain boundary energy, ${\sigma}_{max}/{\sigma}_{min}$, has been varied from 1 to 3. As the anisotropy increased, the grain growth exponent, n, increased from 2.05 to 2.37. The grain size distribution showed a central plateau in the isotropic case, and was changed into no central plateau and the increasing population of very small grains in the anisotropic case, resulting from slowly disappearing grains. Finally, simulated microstructures were compared according to anisotropy.
The most important factor in the performances of polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel cells is how fast hydrogen ions can be transported along the water channel formed inside the electrolyte membrane. Since the morphology of the water channel and the diffusivity of the protons are very important factors for the proton transport behavior, various molecular dynamics simulation studies are being carried out to clarify this. The force-field is an important variable parameterizing the movement and interaction of each atom in molecular dynamics simulation. In this study, proton diffusivities of the 3D models of polymer electrolyte membranes were calculated in order to analyze the effects of various types of force-fields on the molecular simulation. It has been found that the charge value determining the non-bonding interaction plays a very important role in the formation of the water channel morphology, and the COMPASS force-field can calculate the accurate proton diffusion behavior. Accordingly, for molecular dynamics simulation of polymer electrolyte membranes, the proper selection of the force-field is very important due to its great effect on the proton diffusion as well as the final molecular structure.

Purpose: Simulation using computed tomography (CT) is now widely available for radiation treatment planning for breast cancer. It is an important tool to help define the tumor target and normal tissue based on anatomical features of an individual patient. In Korea, most patients have small sized breasts and the purpose of this study was to review the margin of treatment field between conventional two-dimensional (2D) planning and CT based three-dimensional (3D) planning in patients with small breasts. Materials and Methods: Twenty-five consecutive patients with early breast cancer undergoing breast conservation therapy were selected. All patients underwent 3D CT based planning with a conventional breast tangential field design. In 2D planning, the treatment field margins were determined by palpation of the breast parenchyma (In general, the superior: base of the clavicle, medial: midline, lateral: mid - axillary line, and inferior margin: 2 m below the inframammary fold). In 3D planning, the clinical target volume (CTV) ought to comprise all glandular breast tissue, and the PTV was obtained by adding a 3D margin of 1 cm around the CTV except in the skin direction. The difference in the treatment field margin and equivalent field size between 2D and 3D planning were evaluated. The association between radiation field margins and factors such as body mass index, menopause status, and bra size was determined. Lung volume and heart volume were examined on the basis of the prescribed breast radiation dose and 3D dose distribution. Results: The margins of the treatment field were smaller in the 3D planning except for two patients. The superior margin was especially variable (average, 2.5 cm; range, -2.5 to 4.5 cm; SD, 1.85). The margin of these targets did not vary equally across BMI class, menopause status, or bra size. The average irradiated lung volume was significantly lower for 3D planning. The average irradiated heart volume did not decrease significantly. Conclusion: The use of 3D CT based planning reduced the radiation field in early breast cancer patients with small breasts in relation to conventional planning. Though a coherent definition of the breast is needed, CT-based planning generated the better plan in terms of reducing the irradiation volume of normal tissue. Moreover it was possible that 3D CT based planning showed better CTV coverage including postoperative change.
