3점 굽힘 하중 해석을 통한 복합재 도어 임팩트 빔 단면형상 설계개선 (Design Improvement of Composite Door Section Impact Beam by Three-Point Bending Analysis)

  • The currently observed trend in car manufacturing is to increase energy-efficiency by producing lighter cars. This study examines the replacement of particular parts, specifically around the impact beam, with material composites 30% lighter than conventional steel currently used. The shape of the impact beam was determined as the trapezoidal cross-sectional area with central reinforcement, using three-point bending analysis. A prototype was fabricated based on the findings of our study and its performance was evaluated by the three-point bending analysis; 2 ply of aramid applied for its displacement. The performance of the final prototype for the door assembly was evaluated using a side-door strength test, which resulted to measured initial strength of 10.5 KN and intermediate strength of 15.6 KN. This research provides a promising solution for better impact beam manufacturing.

LTCC 소재의 조성과 성형 공정에 따른 소결체의 강도 특성 (The Strength of Sintered Body with the Composition and the Forming Process of LTCC Materials)

  • According to the composition of LTCC material, though it was thought that bulk defect which was made in forming process effects on the densification during the sintering, it was not reported systemically. In this study, we evaluated crystal structure, 3 point bending strength, hardness and microstructure of the samples by uniaxial pressing and tape casting using the commercial powders of the crystallizing glass and the glass/ceramic composite. In the case of glass/ceramic composite, Viox-001 powder with residual glass in the sintering, 3 point bending strength was similar regardless of forming process due to fill the bulk defect by residual glass. In the case of crystallizing glass, MLS-22, because glass phase was small in the sintering, glass did not fill the pore in the sample by uniaxial pressing process, therefore, the 3 point bending strength of it was 167 MPa. However, the 3 point bending strength of the sample by tape casting was 352 MPa and much higher. Meanwhile, crystal structure and hardness were similar regardless of forming process.

  • Machine parts and structures of a change in the displacement and strain can be evaluated safety is one of the important factors. Typically the strain gauge has been employed to measure the displacement and strain. However, this contact-type measurement method has disadvantages that are not measured under condition of specific object shape, surface roughness and temperature. In particularly, 3 point bending and 4 point bending test not use strain gauge. So its test used cross head displacement and deflect meter. Digital Image Correlation measurement methods have many advantages. It is non contact-type measurement method to measure the object displacements and strain. In addition, it is possible to measure the Map of full field displacements and strain. In this paper, measured the 3 point bending deflection using the Digital Image Correlation methods. In order to secure the reliability, Digital Image Correlation method and universal test machine were compared.

고온고습환경이 Sn계 무연솔더의 부식 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of High Temperature-moisture on Corrosion and Mechanical Properties for Sn-system Solder Joints)

  • The effect of high temperature-moisture on corrosion and mechanical properties for Sn-0.7Cu, Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (SAC305) solders on flexible substrate was studied using Highly Accelerated Temperature/Humidity Stress Test (HAST) followed by three-point bending test. Both Sn-0.7Cu and SAC305 solders produced the internal $SnO_2$ oxides. Corrosion occurred between the solder and water film near flexible circuit board/copper component. For the SAC305 solder with Ag content, furthermore, octahedral corrosion products were formed near Ag3Sn. For the SAC305 and Sn-0.7Cu solders, the amount of internal oxide increased with the HAST time and the amount of internal oxides was mostly constant regardless of Ag content. The size of the internal oxide was larger for the Sn-0.7Cu solder. Despite of different size of the internal oxide, the fracture time during three-point bending test was not significantly changed. It was because the bending crack was always initiated from the three-point corner of the chip. However, the crack propagation depended on the oxides between the flexible circuit board and the Cu chip. The fracture time of the three-point bending test was dependent more on the crack initiation than on the crack propagation.

알루미늄 압출판재의 프레스성형 중 파열조건에 대한 조사 (Investigation of Cracking Condition during Press Forming of Extruded Aluminum Sheets)

  • 선루프 트랙은 알루미늄을 압출하고 프레스성형하여 생산한다. 프레스성형 중 날카롭게 굽혀진 좌면의 가장자리를 따라 균열이 발생하였다. 좌면의 가장자리를 절단하여 펀치와 다이 모서리의 최종위치를 측정하고 균열발생과의 관계를 조사하였다. 그리고, 이 최종위치까지 굽힘을 유한요소 시뮬레이션하여 임계변형률을 구하였다. 한편, 소재의 방향, 경도, 굽힘 가장자리 길이, 굽힘반경의 여러 가지 다른 조합에 대하여 3점굽힘시험을 수행하였다. 그리고, 3점굽힘시험에 대한 유한요소 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 임계변형률을 구하여 비교하였다.

  • 4점 휨 시험에서 지간 길이에 따른 낙엽송 제재목의 휨 성능 변화를 알아보기 위하여 연구를 진행하였다. 연구에 사용된 시험편의 크기는 38(너비) ${\times}$ 89(깊이) ${\times}$ 3,600(길이) $mm^3$이며, 평균 기건 밀도와 함수율은 각각 $543.5kg/m^3$, 10.5%이었다. 낙엽송 육안 등급 1등급 248본을 두 그룹으로 나눠, 지간 거리 1,650 mm와 3,000 mm에서 휨 실험을 진행하여 휨 강도와 휨 탄성계수를 도출하였다. 휨 탄성계수는 유의 수준 5%에서 지간 거리에 따라 차이가 없다고 판단된 반면 휨 강도는 차이가 있었으며, 지간에 반비례하였다. 지간 거리 1,650와 3,000 mm에서 휨 강도의 5% 하한치는 각각 28.65와 25.70 MPa로 확인되었다. 지간 거리에 따른 휨 강도 차이는 백분위 수가 증가함에 따라 커지는 것으로 확인되었으며, 이는 와이블 최약 링크 파손 이론에 의한 치수 효과 때문으로 사료된다. 따라서 지간 대 깊이 비가 15 이상으로만 제한되어 있는 목구조용 실대재 휨 시험법(KS F 2150)에 치수 효과를 고려할 수 있는 방법이 포함되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 이를 통해 다양한 치수의 제재목에서 얻어지는 강도를 설계 값에 반영할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

복합하중을 받는 평판에 존재하는 반타원 표면균열의 공학적 탄소성 파괴해석법 (Engineering Elastic-Plastic Fracture Analysis for Semi-Elliptical Surface Cracked Plates Under Combined Bending and Tension)

  • The present paper provides an engineering J estimation equation for surface cracked plates under combined bending and tension. The proposed equation is based on the reference stress approach, and the most relevant normalising loads to define the reference stress for accurate J estimations are given for surface cracked plates under combined bending and tension. Comparisons with J results from extensive 3-D FE analyses, covering a wide range of crack geometry, plate geometry and loading combination, show overall good agreement not only at the deepest point but also at arbitrary points along the crack front. for pure tension, agreement between the estimated J and the FE results is excellent, even at the surface point. On the other hand, for pure bending and combined bending and tension, the estimated J values become less accurate for locations close to the surface point. Thus the results in this paper will be useful to assess short-term fracture or low cycle fatigue of surface defects in plates under combined bending and tension.

  • Comparison of acoustic emission, ultrasonic testing and crack gauge in 3-point bending testing have been studied. As the results, COD is indirectly assumed by strain gauge rate and grid pitch width when crack gauge grid is out. Acoustic emission is qualitatively able to measure crack growth by total count but ultrasonic testing has a difficulty in measuring it because of echo height fluctuation according to the change and pressure of UT. probe.

축교정을 위한 기하학적 진직도 적응제어기 설계 (Design of a Geometric Adaptive Straightness Controller for Shaft Straightening Process)

  • In order to minimize straightness error of deflected shaft, a geometric adaptive straightness controller system is studied. A multi-step straightening and a three-point bending process have been developed for the geometric adaptive straightness controller. Load-deflection relationship, on-line identification of variations of material properties, on-line springback prediction, and real-time hydraulic control methodology are studied for the three-point bending process. By deflection pattern analysis and fuzzy self-learning method in the multi-step straightening process, a straightening point and direction, desired permanent deflection and supporting condition are determined. An automatic straightening machine has been fabricated for rack bars by using the developed ideas. Validity of the proposed system is verified through experiments.

Non-destructive assessment of the three-point-bending strength of mortar beams using radial basis function neural networks

  • This paper presents a new method for assessing the three-point-bending (3PB) strength of mortar beams in a non-destructive manner, based on neural network (NN) models. The models are based on the radial basis function (RBF) architecture and the fuzzy means algorithm is employed for training, in order to boost the prediction accuracy. Data for training the models were collected based on a series of experiments, where the cement mortar beams were subjected to various bending mechanical loads and the resulting pressure stimulated currents (PSCs) were recorded. The input variables to the NN models were then calculated by describing the PSC relaxation process through a generalization of Boltzmannn-Gibbs statistical physics, known as non-extensive statistical physics (NESP). The NN predictions were evaluated using k-fold cross-validation and new data that were kept independent from training; it can be seen that the proposed method can successfully form the basis of a non-destructive tool for assessing the bending strength. A comparison with a different NN architecture confirms the superiority of the proposed approach.
