  • In multi-dimensional systems, various solution schemes for radiative transfer are suggested but the applicabilities and accuracies of these schemes have not yet fully tested due to the lack of reference solutions especially for nongray gases. In this paper we present some precise radiative transfer solutions for a black walled 3-dimensional cylindrical system filled with nongray gases having uniform temperature and concentration. The ray-tracing method with the $T_N$ quadrature set and the SNB model are used to obtain the radiative transfer solutions by the nongray gases. The solutions presented in this paper are proved to be quite accurate and can be regarded as the reference solutions for the radiative transfer by nongray gases.

  • In this paper, the trajectory scroll in 3-dimensional Minkowski space-time $E_1^3$ is given by a firmly connected oriented line moving with Cartan frame along curve. Some theorems and results between curvatures of base curve and distribution parameter of this surface are obtained. Moreover, some theorems and results related to being developable and minimal of this surface are given. And also, some relationships among geodesic curvature, geodesic torsion and the curvatures of base curve of trajectory scroll are found.

  • We characterize real 4-dimensional Kahler metrices which are critical for natural quadratic Riemannian functionals defined on the space of all Riemannian metrics. In particular we show that such critical Kahler surfaces are either Einstein or have zero scalar curvature. We also make some discussion on criticality in the space of Kahler metrics.

  • The active earth pressure on the retaining wall is reduced by 3-Dimensional effects of the ground. Therefore, the test was focused on reducing the earth pressure on the retaining wall by inserting the vertical reinforcement in the backfill ground to develope the 3-Dimensional effects. Model tests in sand were peformed to measure the 3-Dimensional effects of the vertical reinforcement on the active earth pressure and its distribution and results were compared with the theories. The size of the vertical reinforcement, the geometry of the backfill space, and the wall friction of vertical reinforcement were varied. It was observed that the active earth pressure and its distribution on the underground structure were affected by the size of the vertical reforcements and wall friction.

  • Entity Attribute Value (EAV) is the widely used solution to represent high dimensional and sparse data, but EAV is not search efficient for knowledge extraction. In this paper, we have proposed a search efficient data model: Optimized Entity Attribute Value (OEAV) for physical representation of high dimensional and sparse data as an alternative of widely used EAV. We have implemented both EAV and OEAV models in a data warehousing en-vironment and performed different relational and warehouse queries on both the models. The experimental results show that OEAV is dramatically search efficient and occupy less storage space compared to EAV.

  • The purpose of this paper is to represent values of acoustic cues for Korean oral stops in the multi-dimensional space, and to attempt to find possible relationships among acoustic cues through correlation analyses. The acoustic cues used for differentiation of 3 types of Korean stops are closure duration, voice onset time and fundamental frequency of a vowel after a stop. The values of these cues are plotted in the two and three dimensional space to see what the critical cues are for separation of different types of stops. Correlation coefficient analyses show that multi-variate approach to statistical analysis is legitimate, and that there are statistically significant relationships among acoustic cues but Oey are not strong enough to make the conjecture that there is a possible relationship among the articulatory or laryngeal mechanisms employed by the acoustic cues.

  • The amount of financial information in sophisticated large data bases is huge and makes interfirm performance comparisons very difficult or at least very time consuming. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether neural networks in the form of self-organizing maps (SOM) can be successfully employed to manage the complexity for competitive financial benchmarking. SOM is known to be very effective to visualize results by projecting multi-dimensional financial data into two-dimensional output space. Using the SOM, we overcome the problems of finding an appropriate underlying distribution and the functional form of data when structuring and analyzing a large data base, and show an efficient procedure of competitive financial benchmarking through clustering firms on two-dimensional visual space according to their respective financial competitiveness. For the empirical purpose, we analyze the data base of annual reports of 100 Korean listed companies over the years 1998, 1999, and 2000.

  • Let $\mathbb{M}^3_q(c)$ denote the 3-dimensional space form of index $q=0,1$, and constant curvature $c{\neq}0$. A curve ${\alpha}$ immersed in $\mathbb{M}^3_q(c)$ is said to be a Bertrand curve if there exists another curve ${\beta}$ and a one-to-one correspondence between ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ such that both curves have common principal normal geodesics at corresponding points. We obtain characterizations for both the cases of non-null curves and null curves. For non-null curves our theorem formally agrees with the classical one: non-null Bertrand curves in $\mathbb{M}^3_q(c)$ correspond with curves for which there exist two constants ${\lambda}{\neq}0$ and ${\mu}$ such that ${\lambda}{\kappa}+{\mu}{\tau}=1$, where ${\kappa}$ and ${\tau}$ stand for the curvature and torsion of the curve. As a consequence, non-null helices in $\mathbb{M}^3_q(c)$ are the only twisted curves in $\mathbb{M}^3_q(c)$ having infinite non-null Bertrand conjugate curves. In the case of null curves in the 3-dimensional Lorentzian space forms, we show that a null curve is a Bertrand curve if and only if it has non-zero constant second Frenet curvature. In the particular case where null curves are parametrized by the pseudo-arc length parameter, null helices are the only null Bertrand curves.

  • This paper describes the development of a brickwork game with three-dimensional computer graphics as one of web-based game contents. Client user using web can access and run lava applet program with the independence of hardware system. It consists of graphic user interface module, initial space generation module, event handler module, player control module, and thread control module. It uses 3-D array data structure for the 3-D graphic objects that are located in three-dimensional space for high-speed object searching and sorting. It enhances to compare with predetermined construction in three-dimensional space. We can use the developed racing game to inform game users of information for an advertisement like tourism information, and can apply the proposed 3-D drawing technology to 3-D game graphic engine core.
