  • This study has investigated the status of utilizing 3D printing in fashion field in order to keep up with the trend for 3D printing technology to be realized in all industries so that the materials and the modeling modes may be figured out. The following is the findings. The materials used most in 3D printing in fashion field are PA, PLA, TPU, multi-material, ABS and metal. PA, TPU and Multi-material have so much excellent flexibility and strength that they are widely used for garment, shoes and such fashion items as bags. But PLA, ABS and metal are scarcely used for garment because PLA is easily biodegradable in the air, ABS generates harmful gas in the process of manufacture and metal is not flexible, while all of these three are partly used for shoes and accessories. The modeling modes mainly applied for 3D printing in fashion field are SLS, SLA, FDM and Polyjet. SLS, which is of a powder-spraying method, is used for making 3D textile seen just like knitting. Polyjet method, which has higher accuracy and excellent flexibility, can be used for expressing diverse colors, and accordingly it is used a lot for high-quality garment, while SLA and FDM method are found to be mostly used for manufacturing shoes and accessories rather than for making garment because they are easily shrunk to result in deformation.

  • With recent developments in digital dentistry, research on techniques and materials for three-dimensional (3D) printing is actively underway. We report the clinical applications and outcomes of 3D printing of temporary crowns fabricated with polylactic acid (PLA) using a fused deposition modeling (FDM) printer. Five participants were recruited from among patients scheduled to be treated with a single full-coverage crown at a dental clinic in a university medical center from June to August 2022. We used 3D-printed crowns fabricated with PLA using an FDM printer as temporary crowns and were assessed for discomfort, fracture, and dislodging. The 3D-printed temporary crowns were maintained without fracture, dislodging, or discomfort until the permanent prosthesis was ready. The average time required for printing the temporary crowns was approximately 7 minutes. The 3D printing of temporary crowns with PLA using an FDM printer is a convenient process for dentists. However, these crowns have some limitations, such as rough surface texture and translucency; therefore, the 3D printing process should be improved to produce better prostheses.

  • In this study, fused deposition modellig(FDM) 3D printing technology has been applied directly to polyester voil fabric to produce 3D printed lace/voil composite fabrics. A stereolithograpy(STL) file with a lace type 3D modelling under the various thickness were prepared and transformed into a g-code file using a g-code generator. The extrusion conditions for FDM 3D printing were controlled by 50mm/s of nozzle speed, $235^{\circ}C$ of nozzle temperature, $40^{\circ}C$ of heating bed temperature. 3D printed lace/voil composite fabriscs manufactured by 3D printing based on FDM using a thermoplactic polyurethane(TPU) filaments were obtained. To evaluate the mechanical properties and washability of the fabricated 3D printed lace/voil composite fabric, KES-FB system test, washing fastness test and dry cleaning resistance test were conducted. As 3D printing thickness increased, KOSHI, NUMERI, and FUKURAMI of 3D printed lace/voil composite fabric increased. From the results of the primary hand value test, 3D printed lace/voil composite fabrics were confirmed to be applicable to women's summer garments. As a result of the washability and dry cleaning resistance test of the 3D printed lace/voil composite fabrics, all samples were graded 4-5.

  • The purpose of this study is to present objective information in applying 3D printing technology for PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography) performance evaluation and use it as a basic research that can be applied to various purposes in the future. Phantoms were manufactured with step wedge of ABS(Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) and ACR(Acrylic acid) material. The counts for each ROI(Region of Interest) were analyzed through image acquisition in PET/CT. And the variation rate of counts and CNR(Contrast Noise Ratio) was evaluated. In the counts analysis, the effect of thickness occurred. In addition, in the variation rate analysis, the thickness setting of steps wedge 4 to 5 levels should be considered first. These results minimize quantitative and qualitative changes in the phantom manufactured based on 3D printing, and enable more stable PET/CT performance evaluation. Based on 3D printing in PET/CT, various phantoms are expected to be produced in the future. If the characteristics of each material are considered and applied through the basic research such as this research, the result of the phantom manufactured through 3D printing can be more meaningful and will be used in a wide range.

  • Fused deposition modeling (FDM), based on stacking a continuous filament of polymer or composite materials, is well matured and is thus widely used in additive manufacturing technology. To advance FDM-based 3D printing technology, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured composite materials must be improved. In this study, we proposed a novel FDM 3D printing process using metal wire-polymer composites, enabling enhanced mechanical properties. In addition, we developed a new type FDM filament of copper wire wrapped in nylon material for stable 3D printing without thermal damage during the printing process. After FDM printing of the copper wire-nylon composite filament, we conducted a tensile test to investigate the mechanical behavior of the printed composite materials. The experimental results confirmed that the tensile strength of the 3D-printed metal wire-polymer composites was higher than that of the conventional single polymer material. Thus, we expect that the FDM printing process developed in this study may be promising for high-load-bearing applications.

  • This study is a basic research for evaluating the buildability of cementitious materials for three-dimensional (3D) printing. In the cement paste step, the thixotropy behavior according to the resting time, which represents the time interval between each layer, was analyzed. In addition, the relationship between the thixotropy behavior and 3D concrete printing buildability was derived by proposing a measurement method that simulates the 3D concrete printing buildup process. The analysis of the tendency of the thixotropy behavior according to the resting time revealed that the area of the hysteresis loop (AHyst) showed a tendency to increase and then converge as the resting time increased, which means hysteresis loop approach critical resting time for sufficient buildability. In the thixotropy behavior analysis that simulates the 3D concrete printing buildup process, the buildup ratio, which is the recovery rate of the shear stress, showed a tendency to increase and then converge as the resting time increased, which are similar results like hysteresis loop. It was concluded that AHyst and the buildup ratio can be used as parameters for determining the resting time, and they have close relationships with 3D concrete printing buildability.

  • 3D printing technology enables the production of creative and personalized food products that meet consumer needs, such as an attractive visual appearance, fortification of specific nutrients, and modified textures. To popularize and diversify 3D-printed foods, an evaluation of the printing feasibility of various food pastes, including materials that cannot be printed natively, is necessary. Most animal resources, such as meat, milk, and eggs, are not inherently printable; therefore, the rheological properties governing printability should be improved through pre-/post-processing or adding appropriate additives. This review provides the latest progress in extrusion-based 3D printing of animal resource-based inks. In addition, this review discusses the effects of ink composition, printing conditions, and post-processing on the printing performance and characteristics of printed constructs. Further research is required to enhance the sensory quality and nutritional and textural properties of animal resource-based printed foods.

  • In this paper, the development history of random packings for several generations was briefly introduced. We demonstrate the application of 3D printing to the fabrication of Pall rings, directly using computer aided design (CAD) models. The CAD was used to design Pall rings with different number of blades. The models were then printed by using UV curing of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resins. The results show that 3D printing is a promising method for producing precisely controlled packing materials. It is also expected that 3D printing is helpful for the fundamental studies of highly efficient packing materials with complex geometrical shapes.

  • The recent advances and popularity of 3D printing technology have centered around building polymerbased 'plastic' materials, due to their low cost, simple and efficient processing, and mechanical toughness. For this reason, printable polymers are actively recruited to create 'ceramic resins' that allow more facile fabrication of ceramic materials that are difficult to print directly. Herein, a brief history and the current state of ceramic 3D printing technology aided by polymer is summarized. In addition, a new ceramic 3D printing technology using polymer-derived ceramics (PDC) is also introduced.
