  • This study used the petrological features and the whole rock susceptibility characteristics suggest ways to determine the domestic dimension stones and Chinese similar dimension stones. In addition, this study compare the intrusive period by measuring the zircon U-Pb age of these stones. Result of comparing the petrological feature, with the exception of Macheon stone and Boryeong stone to show the differences in mineral composition and texture under a microscope, the domestic dimension stones and Chinese similar dimension stones exhibit substantially the same petrological feature. According to the measurement results for the whole rock magnetic susceptibility, Goheong, Iksan, Pocheon stones are the similar as Chinese dimension stones, and other stones are easily distinguished. The zircon U-Pb age results for Geochang, Iksan, and Pocheon stones are equivalent to the Jurassic Daebo granites and G603, G633, G655 are the Cretaceous granites. Therefore, the domestic dimension stones and Chinese similar dimension stones can be clearly determined by the zircon U-Pb age results.

  • In this study, the psycho-physiological response of drivers was investigated in terms of EEG(Electroencephalogram), especially with the fractal dimensions computed by Chaotic algorithm. The Chaotic algorithm Is well Known to sensitively analyze the non-linear information such as brain waves. An automobile with a fully equipped data acquisition system was used to collect the data. Ten healthy subjects participated in the experiment. EEG data were collected while subjects were driving the car between Won-ju and Shin-gal J.C. on Young-Dong highway The results were presented in terms of 3-Dimensional attractor to confirm the chaotic nature of the EEG data. The correlation dimension and fractal dimension were calculated to evaluate the complexity of the brain activity as the driving duration changes. In particular, the fractal dimension indicated a difference between the driving condition and non-driving condition while other spectral variables showed inconsistent results. Based upon the fractal dimension, drivers processed the most information at the beginning of the highway driving and the amount of brain activity gradually decreased and stabilized. No particular decrease of brain activity was observed even after 100 km driving. Considering the sensitivity and consistency of the analysis by Chaotic algorithm, the fractal dimension can be a useful parameter to evaluate the psycho-physiological responses of human brain at various driving conditions.

  • The left atrial [LA] dimension and atrial fibrillation [AF] in patients with mitral valvular heart diseases have been thought to be related to hemodynamic burden to the LA depending on severity of stenosis or regurgitation of mitral valve, left ventricular contractility and the heart conditions. If hemodynamic burden persists long, it can affect the LA wall and structural change of the LA wall itself can developed. So the structural change of the LA wall could be thought to be related to the LA dimension and AF. To verify this relation, the LA wall biopsy was performed in 26 patients with rheumatic mitral valvular heart disease at the left atriotomy incision margin which was posterior to the interatrial groove after completion of surgery to the mitral valve such as valve replacement or commissurotomy. Relation of the pathological state of the LA wall to AF and the LA dimension measured by M-mode echocardiography was studied. The conclusions were as follow. 1. There was tendency that degree of fibrosis of myocardium of the LA wall was related to the LA dimension. 2. There was more chance that patients who had severe fibrosis of myocardium of the LA wall had pre and postoperative AF. 3. There was no relation between reduction rate of the LA dimension before and after surgery and degree of fibrosis of myocardium of the LA wall.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a radiographic estimate of osseous fractal dimension is useful in the characterization of structural changes in bone. Ten specimens of bone were progressively decalcified in fresh 50 ml solutions of 0.1 N hydrochloric acid solution at cummulative timed periods of 5, 10, 20, 30, 60 and 90 minutes, and radiographed from 0 degree projection angle controlled by intraoral parelleling device. The test set of 70 radiographs was digitized and digitally filtered to reduce film -grain noise. I performed one-dimensional variance and fractal analysis of bony profiles or scan lines. Correlation analysis quantified the relationship between variance and fractal dimension. The obtained results were as follow. 1. After the first stage of decalcification variance and fractal dimension of scan line pixel intensities generally decreased with a range of 57.94 to 12.64 and 1.59 to 1.36. 2. Correlation coefficient(r) relating variances to fractal dimensions was consistantly excellent(range r=0.90 to 0.98). 3. Variance and fractal dimension were much alike in ability to discriminate, at leat on a group basis, between control and decalcified specimens.

  • FACES II & III do not capture the high extremes of the dimension and are linear rather than curvilinear measure. FACES IV is the latest revision of FACES series and can capture two extreme dimension of Circumplex Model. The purpose of this study is to examine reliability and validity of reconstructed FACES using by FACES II, III, IV. Factor analysis showed that Cohesion and Adaptability consisted 3 factors (disengaged, connected, emmeshed/rigid, flexble, chaotic) Extremes on each dimension conceptually were opposite and they were uncorrelated with each other. FACES effectively predicted family function. Reliability coefficients of subscales ranged from 61~85 Reconstructed FACES had good internal consistency and construct and criterion related validity.

  • In this note, we shed new light on Krull domains from the point view of Gorenstein homological algebra. By using the so-called w-operation, we show that an integral domain R is Krull if and only if for any nonzero proper w-ideal I, the Gorenstein global dimension of the w-factor ring (R/I)w is zero. Further, we obtain that an integral domain R is Dedekind if and only if for any nonzero proper ideal I, the Gorenstein global dimension of the factor ring R/I is zero.

  • Recently, the frequency of unexpecting heavy rains has been increased due to abnormal climate and extreme rainfall. There was a limit to analyze one dimension or two dimension stream flow of domestic rivers that was applied simple momentum equation and fixed energy conservation. Therefore, hydrodynamics flow analysis in rivers has been needed three dimensional numerical analysis for correct stream flow interpolation. In this study, CFD model on FLOW-3D was applied to stream flow analysis, which solves three dimension RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation) control equation to find out physical behavior and the effect of hydraulic structures. Numerical simulation accomplished those results was compared by using turbulence models such as $k-{\backepsilon}$, RNG $k-{\backepsilon}$ and LES. Those numerical analysis results have been illustrated to bends and junctions by the turbulence energy effects, velocity of flow distributions, water level pressure distributions and eddy flows.

  • This paper presents a method to convert 3D CAD model to an appropriate analysis model using wrap-around, smooth-out and thinning operators that have been originally developed to realize the multi-resolution modeling. Wrap-around and smooth-out operators are used to simplify 3D model, and thinning operator is to reduce the dimension of a target object with simultaneously decomposing the simplified 3D model to 1D or 2D shapes. By using the simplification and dimension-reduction operations in an appropriate way, the user can generate an analysis model that matches specific applications. The advantage of this method is that the user can create optimized analysis models of various simplification levels by selecting appropriate number of detailed features and removing them.
