Creep force is one of the only appeared at conventional train which used to be driven by metallic wheel and rail contact. Due to the elastic deformation of wheel/rail contact patch by the weights of wheel and all the components related to it, creep force generates and becomes to the decision factor of critical speed of bogie(or railway vehicle) which is the criteria of avoiding vehicle to be unstable. There are many kind of factors which affect generation of creep force at a wheel/rail contact surface such as viscosity of contact patch, velocity, wheel and rail geometric profile, mechanical properties of wheel and rail. This paper concentrates on a wheelset simple 2 DOF Equation of Motion being exerted. From the simple numerical analysis using linear solution about getting creep force some factors could find roughly. Among the factors geometric parameter could be the one of most important for this study. In the future we'll prolong the range of study to find out method of measuring creep force easily.
Automotive wheel bearings are a critical component of vehicles that support their weight and facilitate rotation. Life and stiffness are significant performance characteristics of wheel bearings. Designing wheel bearings involves finding optimal design variables that satisfy both performances. CO2 emission reduction and fuel efficiency regulations attribute to the recent increase in design requirements for lightweight and compact automotive parts while maintaining performance. However, achieving a design that maintains performance while reducing weight poses challenges, as performance and weight are generally inversely proportional. In this study, we perform design optimization of automotive wheel bearings considering life and stiffness. We develop a program that calculates the basic rated life and modified rated life based on international standards for evaluating the life of wheel bearings. We develop a regression equation using regression analysis to address the time-consuming stiffness analysis during repetitive analysis. We perform ANOVA and main effect analyses to understand the statistical characteristics of the developed regression equation. Furthermore, we verify its reliability by comparing the predicted and test results. We perform design optimization using the developed life prediction program, stiffness regression equation and weight regression equation. We select bearing specifications and geometry as design variables, weight as the cost function, and life and stiffness as constraints. Through design optimization, we investigate the influence of design variables on the cost function and constraints by comparing the initial and optimal design values.
Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate voluntary wheel running behavior in the unilateral 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) rat model. Methods : Male Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to 2 groups : 6-OHDA group (n=17) and control group (n=8). The unilateral 6-OHDA rat model was induced by injection of 6-OHDA into unilateral medial forebrain bundle using a stereotaxic instrument. Voluntary wheel running activity was assessed per day in successfully lesioned rats (n=10) and control rats. Each behavioral test lasted an hour. The following parameters were investigated during behavioral tests : the number of running bouts, the distance moved in the wheel, average peak speed in running bouts and average duration from the running start to the peak speed. Results : The number of running bouts and the distance moved in the wheel were significantly decreased in successfully lesioned rats compared with control rats. In addition, average peak speed in running bouts was decreased, and average duration from the running start to the peak speed was increased in lesioned animals, which might indicate motor deficits in these rats. These behavioral changes were still observed 42 days after lesion. Conclusion : Voluntary wheel running behavior is impaired in the unilateral 6-OHDA rat model and may represent a useful tool to quantify motor deficits in this model.

One of the main causes of severe wear or crack initiation in wheel and rail is the contact stress due to wheel-rail contact. First, we obtain contact stress due to the rail mounting slope using the finite element method. Second, the shape design based on more reasonable contact stress analysis rather th~n a general Hertzian contact theory is investigated in order to reduce the contact stress. The optimum -design is performed using the simple 2-D finite element model and its results are verified by 311) finite element analysis.
The visibility evaluation is significant for the development of construction equipment. The visibility evaluation follows the standards of ISO 5006, ISO 14401-1, and ISO 14401-2. The evaluation contains the operator's visibility and the visibility of rear-view mirrors. The operator's visibility includes the visibility test which requires the recognition of the rectangular line surrounding the machine by one meter and the circle with a 12 meter radius. This study describes the two evaluation processes for the development of the wheel loader. The first process is the light bulb shadow test by using a prototype wheel loader. The second process is based on computer simulation in virtual space. The advantages and disadvantages of computer simulation process are investigated.
A contact patch between the wheel and the rail supports the train body and a traction power comes from it when rolling stocks run on the railroad. Friction force between the wheel and rail makes the train move on the rail. Whenever the train runs on the rail, the wheels and rails wear down by frictions inevitably. So it must be shaped by the lathe or changed for the safety train operation and the comfortable ride. Until now, many measures were carried out in order to prevent a wear and tear of the wheels. For example loop line railway in Kun Ja depot and Ji Chuk depot. This document reports the wheel changing data taken by maintenances department for the period before and after 1996 in the 1.2.3.4 lines in Seoul metro.
Asphalt concrete pavements are often destroyed within the intended design life due to the increasement in traffic volume. The most common types of asphalt concrete pavement damages are permanent deformation and fatigue cracking, and so on. In this research, characteristics of traffic loadings and lateral wheel path distributions are analyzed using the field survey on traffic flow. The obtained traffic characteristics can be used to the decision making for the maintenance policy of roads. According to the traffic lane analysis for the 2nd and 3rd lanes, inner lane vehicles tended to pass to the right side to avoid the opposite side vehicles. In addition, the outside lane vehicles were deviated to the left side to avoid passengers. It is also noted that the lateral wheel path distributions was close to the normal distribution.
2219 aluminum alloy bonded diamond wheels containing intermetallic compounds were fabricated by powder metallurgy method. Nickel and titanium were added in aluminum matrix piece. The hot pressing condition was $600^{\circ}C$ and 20 Mpa in the furnace of the electric resistance type. The mechanical properties and grinding tests were carried out to confirm the wheel performance. Aluminum oxide ceramics were chosen for use in the grinding tests. The test proved that the heat resistance 2219 aluminum bonded diamond wheel containing 15 wt% nickel and 15 wt% titanium respectively showed the best performance.
Wheelset dynamic analysis is a key element to determine the degree of accuracy of railway vehicle dynamics. In this study, a three-dimensional wheelset dynamic analysis is presented in such a way that the precise wheel-rail contact analysis in three-dimension is implemented into the dynamic equations of a wheelset. A numerical procedure that can be used for the analysis of a wheelset dynamics when the wheel-rail two point contact occurs in a cornering maneuver is developed. Numerical solutions of the constraint equations and the dynamics equations of a wheelset are achieved by using Runge-Kutta method. The proposed wheelset dynamic analysis is validated by comparison against results obtained from VI-RAIL analysis.

This study investigates the physical properties of the acrylic emulsion mortar according to variable composition set of redispersible emulsion powders. This materials have to be composed of many types of binders and chemical additives. So it is difficult to decide suitable mixing proportion of composition materials. The redispersible emulsion powders using "2, 4, 6, 8kg" of EVA polymers dispersion ranges are prepared with acrylic emulsion mortars and were tested for basic characteristics such as flexural, and compressive strength, wheel load. Through experiments we found that the improved formula to satisfy the standard of wheel load by EVA polymers, and the masration rangs between about 2.0% to 2.6% which the white portland cenmet and EVA polymers is good for resistauce wheel load.
