Analysis of a CubeSat Magnetic Cleanliness for the Space Science Mission (우주과학임무를 위한 큐브위성 자기장 청결도 분석)

  • CubeSat is a satellite platform that is widely used not only for earth observation but also for space exploration. CubeSat is also used in magnetic field investigation missions to observe space physics phenomena with various shape configurations of magnetometer instrument unit. In case of magnetic field measurement, the magnetometer instrument should be far away from the satellite body to minimize the magnetic disturbances from satellites. But the accommodation setting of the magnetometer instrument is limited due to the volume constraint of small satellites like a CubeSat. In this paper, we investigated that the magnetic field interference generated by the cube satellite was analyzed how much it can affect the reliability of magnetic field measurement. For this analysis, we used a reaction wheel and Torque rods which have relatively high-power consumption as major noise sources. The magnetic dipole moment of these parts was derived by the data sheet of the manufacturer. We have been confirmed that the effect of the residual moment of the magnetic torque located in the middle of the 3U cube satellite can reach 36,000 nT from the outermost end of the body of the CubeSat in a space without an external magnetic field. In the case of accurate magnetic field measurements of less than 1 nT, we found that the magnetometer should be at least 0.6 m away from the CubeSat body. We expect that this analysis method will be an important role of a magnetic cleanliness analysis when designing a CubeSat to carry out a magnetic field measurement.

  • Psychological typology in analytic psychology is used not only for ascertaining the attitude or function of the conscious ego, but also as one blueprint for the individuation process. We all know the need to emphasize an awareness of the deployment and development of the superior function, the secondary function, the third function and the inferior function for the individuation process. This study has the goal of refining our awareness of this deployment and development of typological functions. The questionnaires of the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory and the Gray Wheelwrights Jungian Type Survey use the method of a forced-choice questionnaire, on the assumption of a bi-polarity hypothesis. But the questionnaire of the Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory uses the Likert scale. It is able to show the deployment of the superior function, the secondary function, the third function and the inferior function visibly. It allows us to test the subject at stated periods for his/her development or change of psychological typology. The Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory is a statistically superior method for showing Jung's psychological typology relative to both the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory and the Gray Wheelwrights Jungian Type Survey. I have studied how the original authors of The Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory understood Jung's psychological typology. I produced the reliability and the item-discrimination power of the Korean Version of the Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory. On the basis of this study, I produced the revised Korean version 1 of Singer-Loomis Type Deployment Inventory.

Comparative Study of the Ablation Rates of Single-pulsed Er:YAG Laser Irradiation on Dentin and Enamel (상아질과 법랑질에 대한 Er:YAG 레이저의 일회 조사시 다양한 에너지 수준에 따른 삭제율에 관한 연구)

  • 과거 수십년간 여러 가지 다른 레이저를 이용한 치아경조직에 대한 몇 가지의 생체외적 실험이 이루어졌다. 그러나 그 결과는 좋지 못하였다. 그러한 주 문제는 열작용이었다. 미국 식품의약국(FDA)에서 사용하도록 허가된 Er:YAG 레이저는 인간의 생체 치아를 삭제할 수 있는 최초의 레이저이다. 치아 삭제가 열작용의 원리에 의해 이루어지기는 하지만, 경조직의 미세폭발에 의하기 때문에 주변의 경조직과 연조직에 미치는 열작용은 거의 없다. 본 연구에서는 최근 국내에서 최초로 개발된 Er:YAG 레이저를 사용하여, 상아질과 법랑질에 일회 조사시 다양한 에너지 수준에 따른 삭제율을 연구하였다. 건조된 10개의 치아가 선택되었으며, 각각은 에폭시 레진에 포매되어 경화되었다. 그 후 다섯 개의 치아는 저속회전 다이아몬드 휠로써 교합면 삭제를 통해 상아질이 노출되었으며, 나머지 다섯 개의 치아는 협측 혹은 설측을 삭제하여 평평한 표면의 법랑질을 만들도록 하였다. 준비된 상아질과 법랑질 치아의 표면은 각각의 에너지 수준의 레이저를 조사할 6개의 구획으로 나누어 표본으로 삼았다. 상아질과 법랑질 표본은 에너지 수준에 따른 5개의 실험군(40 mJ, 80 mJ, 120 mJ, 160 mJ, 200 mJ)으로 나누어 그 삭제율을 분석하였다. 삭제된 부피는 삼차원 영상 표면분석기로 측정하였으며, 통계적으로 분석하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 상아질과 법랑질간의 삭제율의 차이는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.0001). 2. 에너지 수준에 따른 삭제율의 차이는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.0001). 3. 각각의 에너지 수준에서 상아질과 법랑질간의 삭제율의 차이는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었으나(p<0.05), 40 mJ과 80 mJ에서는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 4. 상아질에서 각각의 에너지 수준 간의 삭제율이 유의한 차이를 보였으나(p<0.01), 160 mJ과 200 mJ간에는 삭제율의 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 법랑질에서도 각각의 에너지 수준 간의 삭제율이 유의한 차이를 보였으나(p<0.01), 120 mJ, 160 mJ, 200 mJ 간에 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 건조된 치아에 다양한 에너지 수준의 Er:YAG 레이저를 적용했을 경우 상아질과 법랑질의 삭제 부피를 연구하여 정량화 및 통계적 분석을 하였다. 그 결과, Er:YAG 레이저는 치아경조직의 삭제에 매우 유용하였으며, 앞으로도 이를 임상적으로 널리 이용하기까지 좀더 다양하고 심화된 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Evaluation of Permanent Deformation Characteristics of Recycled Asphalt Concretes Made by Improved Binder-Rejuvenation (바인더 회생방식을 개선한 재생 아스팔트 콘크리트의 소성변형 특성 연구)

  • This paper is one of the studies for developing new methodologies for improving performance of hot-mix recycled asphalt mixtures. The objective of this study is to evaluate rut-resistance characteristics of recycled asphalt mixture which was prepared by newly developed mixing method. The new mixing method provided more sufficient rejuvenation of old binder of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), making homogeneous binder viscosity level in a recycled mixture. Two aggregates (gneiss and granite), two RAP contents (15% and 30%) and two contents (none and 6%) of polymer modifier (LDPE) were used. Recycled mixture was prepared with two methods; method A and method F. To examine difference of binder oxidation level by type of material within a recycled mixture, Gel-permeation chromatography(GPC) analysis was performed on the binders mixed with coarse aggregates and matrix separately. Laboratory tests were performed for evaluation of rut resistance characteristics of each recycled mixture and these includes wheel tracking (WT) test and Kim test. Rut depth and dynamic stability were obtained from WT test and deformation strength $(S_D)$ was obtained from Kim test. The results of regression analysis was shown that correlation $(R^2)$ of F mixing mixtures was higher than one of A mixing mixtures. Therefore, F mixing mixtures showed more consistent rut resistance than h mixing mixtures.

Performance Evaluation of the High Durability Asphalt Mixture for Bridge Deck Pavements (고내구성 교면포장 아스팔트 혼합물의 공용성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the pavement distresses in the bridge deck have seriously affected the durability of bridge deck and driver's safety. The existing asphalt materials have the limitations in reducing the pavement distresses of brides deck. To protect the bridge deck and withstand the high deflection, it is necessary to develop the asphalt materials with good fatigue resistance for bridge deck pavement. The asphalt binder combined with SBS and two other admixtures has been developed for improving the resistance to fatigue cracking, productivity, and workability for bridge deck pavement. Based on the various binder test results, the developed binder is found to be PG 70-34 indicating very higher resistance against fatigue cracking. Fatigue testing, wheel tracking testing, and moisture susceptibility testing have been conducted to evaluate the performance of asphalt mixtures developed in this study. Laboratory test results show that the developed asphalt material has three times higher fatigue lives than the typical modified asphalt mixture. Full scale accelerated testing was also performed on the typical asphalt mixture and newly developed asphalt mixture to evaluate the full scale performance of asphalt mixtures. Test results indicate that the length of cracking on the new materials is only 38% of the typical material at the 250,000 load repetitions.

  • The stiffness of chemcrete modified asphalt mixtures increase rapidly with time in the presence f oxygen and high temperature, Sometimes the asphalt pavements that have chemcrete modified asphalt mixture applied on the surface none show premature cracking because of the excessive increase in the stiffness f the asphalt mixtures. To mitigate this premature cracking, the chemcrete modified mixtures have been used as a base course material. In this study, the performance of the chemcrete modified asphalt binder and mixtures are investigated through a course of various laboratory tests including dynamic shear rheometer and bending beam rheometer tests for binders and uniaxial tensile fatigue, wheel tracking, and moisture damage tests for the mixtures. And also the resilient modulus of the conventional and chemcrete modified mixtures are compared based on the test results conducted on the specimens obtained from various in-situ test sections. It can be concluded from the tests results that the chemcrete modified mixtures show better rutting resistance than conventional mixtures. The chemcrete modified mixtures may have low temperature cracking when it is applied in the cold region. The stiffness of chemcrete modified mixtures is approximately 50 percent higher than that of conventional mixtures more than two years after the chemcrete modified mixture was applied in the base course.

  • Asphalt pavements have to perform under the conditions of heavily-loaded vehicles due to the industrialization and large temperature variance between the summer and the winter. Due to these factors, a characteristics change of early permanent deformation becomes a big issue, and to remedy this problem many research to use modified asphalt are being widely conducted. However, most of the modified asphalt is being paved after milling the surface course and applying tackcoating, and it is being used mostly for the repair and maintenance purpose rather than pavement of new national road. The purpose of this investigation is to obtain some fundamental data for the evaluation of the performance and long-term performance of the construction material mixtures by the laboratory test and field experiments. For the field experiment, 200m of two-lanes national road, that is being paved for the new national road under the direction of Pusan Regional Construction Management Office, was paved with SBS PMA and PSMA asphalt mixtures, which are an modified asphalt mixtures used for the surface course, on top of the base course paved with other modified asphalt mixtures. The remaining section of the new national road was paved with dense grade mixture. The laboratory tests assessed and analyzed the mixture characteristics by Marshall's stability test, strength tests and wheel-tracking test. On the basis of the evaluation result of the temperature control and roughness of the newly constructed road at the field experiment site, it is desired to evaluate and identify the most economic modified asphalt mixtures by long-term performance evaluation and LCC(Life Cycle Cost) analysis in order to apply the test result to the design of new road construction in the future.

Binder Stiffness Effect on Permanent Deformation and Tensile Strength of Asphalt Concretes (바인더 강성이 아스팔트 콘크리트의 인장강도와 소성변형 특성에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Since the relatively stiff binder shows a higher tensile strength as well as higher rutting resistance, it is believed that the binder stiffness is an important factor for rutting and tensile strength of asphalt mixtures. The typical tensile property is measured by indirect tensile strength (ITS) test at $25^{\circ}C$ and the rutting resistance is most widely measured by wheel tracking (WT) test at $60^{\circ}C$. The deformation strength ($S_D$) is newly developed property to estimate rut resistance of asphalt concretes at $60^{\circ}C$. The ITS and $S_D$ are very simple to measure by static test techniques, but the WT is measured by repeated loading procedure which requires relatively longer time and more efforts. Since these three properties are highly dependent upon the binder stiffness, it may be possible to estimate one property from another. Therefore, this study investigate the possibility of estimating the rutting characteristics (measured by WT test) by ITS or $S_D$ test, and the ITS by $S_D$. Because of binder stiffness effect, in the WT estimation by ITS, a tendency was observed for the higher ITS mixture to have the lower rut depth, giving $R^2{\fallingdotseq}$0.6, on the average. The ITS estimation by $S_D$ showed $R^2{\fallingdotseq}$0.64, and the WT estimation by SD showed $R^2{\fallingdotseq}$0.84, which is highest correlation among the three. Therefore, it was concluded that there is relatively good possibility of estimating WT result by $S_D$, and even though $R^2$ is somewhat low, there is some correlation between WT and ITS.

A Study on the Development of a Home Mess-Cleanup Robot Using an RFID Tag-Floor (RFID 환경을 이용한 홈 메스클린업 로봇 개발에 관한 연구)

  • An autonomous and automatic home mess-cleanup robot is newly developed in this paper. Thus far, vacuum-cleaners have lightened the burden of household chores but the operational labor that vacuum-cleaners entail has been very severe. Recently, a cleaning robot was commercialized to solve but it also was not successful because it still had the problem of mess-cleanup, which pertained to the clean-up of large trash and the arrangement of newspapers, clothes, etc. Hence, we develop a new home mess-cleanup robot (McBot) to completely overcome this problem. The robot needs the capability for agile navigation and a novel manipulation system for mess-cleanup. The autonomous navigational system has to be controlled for the full scanning of the living room and for the precise tracking of the desired path. It must be also be able to recognize the absolute position and orientation of itself and to distinguish the messed object that is to be cleaned up from obstacles that should merely be avoided. The manipulator, which is not needed in a vacuum-cleaning robot, has the functions of distinguishing the large trash that is to be cleaned from the messed objects that are to be arranged. It needs to use its discretion with regard to the form of the messed objects and to properly carry these objects to the destination. In particular, in this paper, we describe our approach for achieving accurate localization using RFID for home mess-cleanup robots. Finally, the effectiveness of the developed McBot is confirmed through live tests of the mess-cleanup task.
