This study was conducted to investigate the effect of precooling on the qualify of Tsugaru apple. Tsugaru apple, filled in plastic container and carton, was precooled by pressure cooler and stored at 1$^{\circ}C$and 25$^{\circ}C$. At 25$^{\circ}C$, Hunter a-value was not shown the difference significantly and Hunter b-value was increased more than a-value during l month. However, Hunter a and b-value was not increased so much at 1$^{\circ}C$. Hardness and toatal acidity was decreased during storage and precooled apple was less decreased than non precooled. Free sugars in Tsugaru apple was consisted of 7.07% fructose, 2.85% glucose, and 2.53% sucrose. Free sugars were decreased during storage at 25$^{\circ}C$ and 1$^{\circ}C$, also, the precooling inhibited those decomposition.
Two experiments were conducted to study the effect of using Egyptian mallow leaf meal (EMLM) on growth performance and feed utilization of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) in experiment 1. Four diets containing 0, 5, 15 and 25% EMLM were included at the expense of berseem leaf meal and fed to fingerlings of common carp for 98 days. The results showed that the average daily gain, feed intake and feed coefficient ratio (FCR) were improved (p<0.05) with increasing the level of EMLM in the diet. Fish fed 25% EMLM were similar to control fish (30% berseem leaf meal) in the productive value (PPV%). In experiment 2, five diets were prepared to contain: 1) 30% berseem leaf meal, 2) 25% untreated EMLM, 3) 25% cooked EMLM 4) 25% treated EMLM with 0.5% NaOH and 5) 25% treated EMLM with 1% NaOH. The results showed that diet containing EMLM gave the best growth performance and feed utilization. However, diet containing 1% NaOH treated EMLM superior to the other diets in PPV% and energy utilization. Diets containing 0.5% NaOH-treated EMLM or cooked EMLM decreased the protein utilization compared to those containing EMLM.
Background: Variants of human papillomavirus (HPV) show more oncogenicity than do prototypes. The HPV16 Asian variant (HPV16As) plays a major role in cervical cancer of Asian populations. Some amino acid changes in the E6 protein of HPV16 variants affect E6 functions such as p53 interaction and host immune surveillance. This study aimed to investigate activities of HPV16As E6 protein on modulation of expression of miRNA-21 as well as interferon regulatory factors (IRFs) 1, 3, 7 and c-fos. Materials and Methods: Vectors expressing E6 protein of HPV16As (E6D25E) or HPV16 prototype (E6Pro) were constructed and transfected into C33A cells. HCK1T cells expressing E6D25E or E6Pro were established by transducing retrovirus-containing E6D25E or 16E6Pro. The E6AP-binding activity of E6 and proliferation of the transfected C33A cells were determined. MiR-21 and mRNA of interesting genes were detected in the transfected C33A cells and/or the HCK1T cells, with or without treatment by culture medium from HeLa cells (HeLa-CM). Results: E6D25E showed binding activity with E6AP similar to that of E6Pro. Interestingly, E6D25E showed a higher activity of miR-21 induction than did E6Pro in C33A cells expressing E6 protein. This result was similar to the HCK1T cells expressing E6 protein, with HeLa-CM treatment. The miR-21 up-regulation significantly corresponded to its target expression. Different levels of expression of IRFs were also observed in the HCK1T cells expressing E6 protein. Interestingly, when treated with HeLa-CM, IRFs 1, 3 and 7 as well as c-fos were significantly suppressed in the HCK1T cells expressing E6D25E, whereas those in the HCK1T cells expressing E6Pro were induced. A similar situation was seen for IFN-${\alpha}$ and IFN-${\beta}$. Conclusions: E6D25E of the HPV16As variant differed from the E6 prototype in its activities on epigenetic modulation and immune surveillance and this might be a key factor for the important role of this variant in cervical cancer progression.

This study describes the effects of novel1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D$_3$ analong[1,25(OH)$_2$-16ene-23yne-26, 27-F6-D$_3$] on proliferation of the human histiocytic lymphoma cell line U937 in vitro. We also examined the expression of c-myc oncogene in U937 cells was apparently inhibited to 62% and 87% of the control level after 4 days in the presence of 10-8M and 10-7 M of this analog, respectively. This compound morpholgically and functionally differentiated U937 cells to nonocyte-macrophage phenotype showing the increase of adherence ability to surface and a decrease of N/C ratio in Giemsa staining . Especially, nonspecific esterase activity which is a marker of cell differentiation to monocyte-macrophage was positive, and production of the positive stained cells increased in a dose dependent fashion . The expression of c-myc oncogene by 1, 25(OH)$_2$D$_3$ analog(10-7 M) was reduced by 60% at the mRNA level as determined by Northern blotting. The effects of this novel analog on cell proliferation and cell differentiation may open op new therapeutic strategies for human disorders such as psoriassis and may provide a tool to understand the mechanism of action of vitamin D$_3$ seco-steroids in malignancy.

A fine oil -in-water (O/W) emulsion using non-aqueous emulsification technique was developed. And the behaviors of POE(25)octyldodecyl ether in non-aqueous polyol/oil systems were studied by observing the surface tension, interfacial tension, turbidity and transition temperature. It was found that POE(25)octyldodecy1 ether hardly existed as the micelle in the non-aqueous polyol system while, in water, it formed micelles very easily. So, when a polyol, like glycerine in which POE(25)octyldodecyl ether has a poor solubility, was added, POE(25)octyldodecyl ether moved to the surface. After saturated at surface, POE(25)octyldodecyl ether began to precitate. The mean particle size of the final emulsion was 230nm. Also, the emulsion system was stable at 0$^{\circ}C$, 25$^{\circ}C$, 40$^{\circ}C$, 50 $^{\circ}C$ and freeze-thaw cycle chamber for a month, while a conventional emulsion system was unstable. It is concluded that, by pertinent combination of polyols, we can improve the adsorption efficiency of surfactant.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to dyslipdemia and hypertension among male office workers. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey. The sample was 204 male office workers aged 30 to 62 years without cardiovascular disease and not taking medication for hypertension and dyslipidemia. Data were collected from November, 2011 to March, 2012. Dyslipidemia was examined by checking serum lipid profiles. Results: Dyslipidemia was related to career (adjusted OR 1.06, 95% CI 1.03~1.51), time spent at desk (adjusted OR 1.25, 95% CI 1.03~1.51), job stress of Q25-49 (adjusted OR 2.72, 95% CI 1.24~5.93), inactivity (adjusted OR 6.86, 95% CI 2.62~17.93), and snack intake frequency (adjusted OR 1.57, 95% CI 1.03~2.38). Hypertension was related to career (adjusted OR 1.07, 95% CI 1.01~1.14), heavy drinking (adjusted OR 5.00, 95% CI 1.25~20.04), and snack intake frequency (adjusted OR 2.10, 95% CI 1.33~3.34). Conclusion: Work and lifestyle-related factors were associated with dyslipidemia and hypertension in male office workers. These findings suggest that lifestyle intervention and improvement of working conditions are integral parts of cardiovascular disease prevention.
This study was to evaluate the efficacy of sanitizer concentrations and treatment time against two major toad-borne pathogenic microorganisms such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus on a stainless steel surface. As a result, stainless steel, treated with 100 ppm of chlorine showed reduction of E. coli(1.56, 1.49, 1.95 log cfu/25 $cm^2$) and S. aureus(0.49, 0.88, 1.27 log cfu/25 $cm^2$) after 0, 5 and 10 min, but none was not detected in treatment with 200 ppm. The population of E. coli(0.73, 0.90, 1.55 log cfu/25 $cm^2$) and S. aureus(0.37, 1.00, 1.45 log cfu/25 $cm^2$) reduced in 35.5% ethanol treated group, but none was not detected in treatment with 70%. The population was reduced E coli(0.28, 0.64, 1.07 cfu/25 $cm^2$) and S. aureus(0.53, 0.87, 0.99 log cfu/25 $cm^2$) by treatment with 45.5 ppm of hydrogen peroxide, but none was not detected in treatment with 91 ppm. Quarternary ammonium compound with 100 ppm was reduced E. coli(0.82, 1.62, 1.71 log cfu/25 $cm^2$) and S. aureus(0.46, 0.93, 1.38 log cfu/25 $cm^2$), but none was not detected in treatment with 200 ppm. Predictive models of sterilization for all 4 disinfectants were suitable to use with $r^2$ value of higher than 0.94. These models may be of use to food services and manufacture of safe products by controlling E. coli and S. aureus without the need for further detection of the organisms.

A photocatalyst which mixed by the commercialized P25-TiO2 and a synthesized AgxO was used in an appropriate weight ratio to effectively produce hydrogen gas in this study. The AgxOs were synthesized with the conventional sol-gel method, and tetramethylammonium hydroxides were added at the synthesis process in order to stabilize the solutions, and then the solutions were heat-treated at the temperatures of -5, 25, and 50 ℃, resulted to obtain the three types of silver oxides. Physicochemical properties of the synthesized AgxOs were identified through X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning emission microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In the photolysis results of water/methanol (weight ratio 1:1) solution, the mixture of P25-TiO2/AgxO exhibited a significantly higher hydrogen gases evolution, compared to that of pure P25-TiO2. Additionally, the addition of H2O2 as an supplement oxidant and in AgxO synthesized at 50 ℃ improved the hydrogen production efficiency. In particular, the emitted hydrogen gases reached to 13,000 μmol during 8 hours when a mixed catalyst, AgxO of 0.1 g and P25-TiO2 of 0.9 g, were used.
Steady laminar natural convection heat transfer from a square beam with a horizontal adiabatic plate has been studied numerically for various Grashof numbers and beam shapes. The heat transfer from a square beam increases as the dimensionless beam width W / L decreases. The mean Nusselt number of the upper surface is minimum at W / L = 1.0, maximum at W / L = 0.25 and that of the side surface is minimum at W / L = 0.25, maximum at W / L = 1.0. The increases of the total mean Nusselt number with increasing Grashof number is dominated by the beam width.

The structures of $Tl_{12-2x}Zn_x-A$ (x = 4.3 and 3.25), vacuum dehydrated zeolite A with all $Na^+$ ions replaced by $Tl^+$ and $Zn^{2+}$ as indicated, have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques in cubic space group Pm3m at 21(1) $^{\circ}C$ (a=12.100(2) ${\AA}$ for $Tl_{3.4}Zn_{4.3}-A$ and a=12.092(2) ${\AA}$ for $Tl_{5.5}Zn_{3.25}-A$). The crystals of $Tl_{3.4}Zn_{4.3}-A$ and $Tl_{5.5}Zn_{3.25}-A$ were prepared by flow method using exchange solutions in which mole ratios of $TlNO_3$,/TEX> and $Zn(NO_3)_2$ were 1:50 and 1:1, respectively, with total concentration of 0.05 M. The structures of the dehydrated $Tl_{3.4}Zn_{4.3}-A$ and $Tl_{5.5}Zn_{3.25}-A$ were refined to yield the final error indices $R_1$ = 0.075 and $R_2$ = 0.075 with 236 reflections, and $R_1$ = 0.057 and $R_2$ = 0.064 with 202 reflections, respectively, for which I > 3$\sigma$(I). Both structures indicate that Zn(II) ions are coordinated by three framework oxygens: the Zn(II) to O(3) distances are 2.08(1) ${\AA}$ for $Tl_{3.4}Zn_{4.3}-A$ and 2.07(1) ${\AA}$ for $Tl_{5.5}Zn_{3.25}-A$, respectively. In each structure, the angle subtended at Zn(II), O(3)-Zn(II)-O(3) is 119.9(3)$^{\circ}$ for $Tl_{3.4}Zn_{4.3}-A$, and 120.0(3)$^{\circ}$ for $Tl_{5.5}Zn_{3.25}-A$, respectively, close to the idealized trigonal-planar value. Zn(II) ions prefer to 6-ring sites. $Tl^+$ ions do not have any preference to a particular site but occupy simultaneously both at the 6-ring sites and 8-ring sites.
