The Meta-Analysis on Effects of Arduino-Based Education for Secondary School Students (중·고등학생 대상 아두이노 활용 교육의 효과에 대한 메타분석)

  • This study aimed to analyze effects of Arduino-based education for secondary school students through meta-analysis. Prior studies including journal articles and theses were selected through rigorous review. The researcher calculated the overall effect size and effect sizes by categorical variables. Research findings are as follows. First, the total effect size of Arduino-based education was 0.537. Second, the effect sizes by type of dependent variables were the affective domain 0.849 and the cognitive domain 0.479. Third, the effect sizes by school level were the middle school 0.796 and the high school 0.474. Fourth, the effect sizes by subject areas were music 1.255, science 0.562, technology 0.443, and information 0.429. Fifth, the effect sizes by types of programming were the graphic-based programming 0.543 and the text-based programming 0.376.

  • This study is to determine an optimal reservoir among many alternative proposals in order to obtain the maximized efficiency under the limited budget. There are many alternative proposals which deal with problems to assign reservoir such as water conversion establishment construction, subterranean water, reservoir, submarine pipeline, water bort, and marine water saving base construction. In this paper, the new model to assign the most reasonable alternative is introduced using 0-1 integer programming. This proposed model has not been applied in the optimal reservoir selection problem yet. This paper will contribute to determine the most reasonable alternative to minimize budget under constraints. Also, this proposal model can be applied to other reservoir selection problem in other regions.

  • Distributed programming can be greatly simplified by language support for distributed communication. Many web browsers now offer some form of distributed objects and the number and types of them are growing daily in interesting and innovative ways CORBA IDL and Java RMI, the representative of distributed object model, support different approaches for distributed computing environments. CORBA approach does not support the application generated by java RMI, even though it supports multiple programming languages. Object translation system between RMI to CORBA is designed and implemented for interoperability of distributed objects on the two different distributed programming environments. Suggested system is considered binding, inheritance, polymorphism, object passing, and callback which are key properties on the distributed objects. Translation System we suggested is implemented on the Window/NT(version 4.0) with Java Development Kit(version 1.1.6).

  • In this work, single-poly EEPROM has been designed and fabricated by using standard 0.8.mu.m CMOS process. The initial threshold voltage was aobut 0.8V but it increased ot about 6.5V after programming at Vds=11.5V and Vcg=6.5V. After erasing devices at Vs=14.2V, the threshold voltage decreased to about 1.5V. The programming time and erasing trime wree about 6ms. and 100ms. respectively. The erasing time can be reduced by applying a series of shorter erase pulse s instead of a long single erase pulse.

  • In this study, a substrate-bias assisted 2-step pulse programming method is proposed for realizing 4-bit/1-cell operation of the SONOS memory. The programming voltage and time are considerably reduced by this programming method than a gate-bias assisted 2-step pulse programming method and CHEI method. It is confirmed that the difference of 4-states in the threshold voltage is maintained to more than 0.5 V at least for 10-year for the multi-level characteristics.

  • This study is to determine an optimal marina's construction location candidate among many alternative candidates in order to obtain the maximized efficiency under the natural conditions. To deal with marina's construction location, the optimal construction location is selected using 10 important factor analysis for 10 candidates in Yeosu city. In this paper, the new model to assign the most reasonable alternative is introduced using 0-1 integer programming. This proposed model has not been applied in the optimal marina's facility candidate selection problem yet. This paper will contribute to determine the most reasonable alternative. Also, this proposal model can be applied to other marina's facility candidate selection problem in other regions.

  • Inthis apper wa analyzed the channel-hot-electron programming characteristics of the single-poly EEPROM with different control gate and drain structures. The single-poly EEPROM uses the p$^{+}$/n$^{+}$-diffusion in the n-well as a control gate instead of the second poly-silicon. The program and erase characteristics of the single-poly EEPROM were verified using the two-dimensional device simulator, MEDICI. The single-poly EEPROM was fabricated using 0.8$\mu$m ASIC CMOS process, and its CHE programming characteristics were measured using HP4155 parameteric analyzer and HP8110 pulse gnerator. Especially we investigated the CHE programming characteristics of the single-poly EEPROM with the p$^{+}$-diffusion or n$^{+}$-diffusion in the n-well as a control gate and the LDD or single-drain structure. The single-poly EEPROM with p$^{+}$-diffusion in the n-well as a control gate and single-drain structure was programmed to about VT$\thickapprox$5V with VDS=6V, VCG=12V(1ms pulse width).th).

A Meta-Analysis on the Effects of Educational Programming Language (교육용프로그래밍언어의 효과에 관한 메타분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of educational programming language(EPL) using the meta-analysis method. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, t-test and F-test were performed for the effect size differences between the variables. The results of the study were as follows: First, EPL turned out to be highly effective in improving learning effects. The total mean of effect size was as big as 1.01 and the value of $U_3$ was 84.38%. EPL increased the learning effect by 34.38% compared with the control group. Second, the moderator variables such as subject, publication type, and learner's school age there was no statistically significant differences. By designing the experiment nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design showed statistically significant effect size compared with single group pretest-posttest design. Third, the mean effect sizes of the dependent variables were as follows: Creativity 1.90, problem solving ability 1.25, logical thinking ability 1.18, learning motivation 0.81, and achievement 0.59. EPL showed positive effect than traditional teaching and learning method comprehensively.

Prediction of the compressive strength of fly ash geopolymer concrete using gene expression programming

  • Evolutionary algorithms based on conventional statistical methods such as regression and classification have been widely used in data mining applications. This work involves application of gene expression programming (GEP) for predicting compressive strength of fly ash geopolymer concrete, which is gaining increasing interest as an environmentally friendly alternative of Portland cement concrete. Based on 56 test results from the existing literature, a model was obtained relating the compressive strength of fly ash geopolymer concrete with the significantly influencing mix design parameters. The predictions of the model in training and validation were evaluated. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$), mean (${\mu}$) and standard deviation (${\sigma}$) were 0.89, 1.0 and 0.12 respectively, for the training set, and 0.89, 0.99 and 0.13 respectively, for the validation set. The error of prediction by the model was also evaluated and found to be very low. This indicates that the predictions of GEP model are in close agreement with the experimental results suggesting this as a promising method for compressive strength prediction of fly ash geopolymer concrete.
