This paper deals with a standard cell placement which is based on a quadratic programming. This paper proposes a new additional force to reduce the cell overlap and to get a uniform distribution of cells. The additional force is not concerned with interconnections between cells, but it is determined by the density of a placement area. In this paper, we modelled that the new additional force is a force which is caused by the dummy fixed cell. And it is used for the global placement. Proposed placement method is compared with TimberWolf v7.0 and Itools vl.4. Proposed placer achieved 7.5% average reduction in wirelength in non timing driven mode, 5.0% average reduction in wlrelength in timing driven mode compared to TimberWolf v7.0. And we got a comparable result to Itools vl.4.

This paper deals with a problem occuring in recognition of tactile images due to the effects of imposed force at a me urement moment. Tactile image of a contact surface, used for recognition of the surface type, varies depending on the forces imposed so that a false recognition may result in. This paper fuzzifies two parameters of the contour of a tactile image with the membership function formed by considering the imposed force. Two fuzzifed paramenters are fused by the average Minkowski's dist; lnce. The proposed algorithm was implemented on the multisensor system cnmposed of an optical tact le sensor and a 6 axes forceltorque sensor. By the experiments, the proposed algorithm has shown average recognition ratio greater than 869% over all imposed force ranges and object models which is about 14% enhancement comparing to the case where only the contour information is used. The pro- ~oseda lgorithm can be used for end-effectors manipulating a deformable or fragile objects or for recognition of 3D objects by implementing on multi-fingered robot hand.
In order to achieve a desirable tooth movement, it is of great importance to control the M/F ratio and to know the location of the center of resistance. The purpose of this study was to locate the center of resistance and the axis of rotation, and to estimate the stress distribution in the periodontal ligament with experimental model. After preparing a model of an upper canine with a simulated periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, the force and moment were applied. The tooth movement was traced using measuring device with LVDTs(Linear variable differential transformers) that can measure three dimensional tooth movement in real time. The results were as follows. 1. The location of center of resistance by transverse force was $29\%$ of root length measured from alveolar crest to apex regardless of force magnitude. The position of the center of resistance is more coronal than that of two-dimensional model($42\%$). 2. The center of resistance and the axis of rotation coincide when couple moment was applied. 3. As the magnitude of moment increases, tooth tends to extrude irrespective of the direction of the moment. 4. The relationship between location of force and axis of rotation (a x b = $49.6\;mm^2$) was obtained. A tooth movement can be predicted through this formula. 5. The centers of rotation by transverse force were plotted linearly.

A Green's function approach is adopted for analyzing the thermoelastic deformations and stresses of a plate made of functionally graded materials(FGMs). The solution to the 3-dimensional unsteady temperature is obtained by using the laminate theory. The fundamental equations for thermoelastic problems are derived in terms of out-plane deformation and in-plane force, separately. The thermoelastic deformation and the stress distributions due to the bending and in-plane forces are analyzed by using a Green's function based on the Galerkin method. The eigenfunctions of the Galerkin Green's function for the thermoelastic deformation and the stress distributions are approximated in terms of a series of admissible functions that satisfy the homogeneous boundary conditions of the rectangular plate. Numerical analysis for a simply supported plate is carried out and effects of material properties on unsteady thermoclastic behaviors are discussed.

The purpose of this paper is to present an photoelasticity technique for measuring the displacement and stress distribution in particle assembly subjected to shallow foundation loading. Photoelastic measurement technique was employed to visualize the force transmission of a particle assembly. A model assembly bounded by a steel frame was built by stacking bi-dimensional circular particles made of polycarbonate elastomer. Each particle was coated by a thin photoelastic sheet so that the force transmission represented by bright light stripes can be visualized. In a contacted particle, both magnitude and orientation of principal stress difference can also be measured via the photoelasticity technique. The different distributions of the contact stresses at the initial loading and near the failure were quantitatively compared. The photoelastic patterns and displacement fields observed in the pre-failure state disappears immediately after the buckling of confined force chains.
It is investigated that that the physical properties of Glutathione layer formed on gold surfaces may make an effect on the distribution of either gold particle adsorbed to the $ZrO_2$ surface or vice versa with the adjustment of the electrostatic interactions. For the investigation, the atomic force microscope (AFM) was used to measure the surface forces between the surfaces as a function of the salt concentration and pH value. The forces were quantitatively analyzed with the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory to estimate the surface potential and charge density of the surfaces for each condition of salt concentration and pH value. The estimated-value dependence on the salt concentration was described with the law of mass action, and the pH dependence was explained with the ionizable groups on the surface. The salt concentration dependence of the surface properties, found from the measurement at pH 4 and 8, was consistent with the prediction from the law. It was found that the Glutathione layer had higher values for the surface charge densities and potentials than the zirconium dioxide surfaces at pH 4 and 8, which may be attributed to the ionized-functional-groups of the Glutathione layer.
The physical properties of mercaptoundecanoic-acid layer formed on gold surfaces, which may affect the distribution of either gold particles adsorbed to the zirconium dioxide surface or vice versa, were investigated. To conduct this investigation, the surface forces were measured between the surfaces with respect to the salt concentration and pH value using atomic force microscope (AFM). The forces were quantitatively converted by the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory to the surface potential and charge density of surfaces. The converted-value dependence on the salt concentration and pH was described with the law of mass action, and the dependence was consistent with the theoretical prediction. It was found that the mercaptoundecanoic-acid layer had higher values for the surface charge densities and potentials than the $ZrO_2$ surfaces, which may be attributed to the ionized-functional-groups of the mercaptoundecanoic-acid layer.
It is investigated that that the physical properties of Glutathione layer formed on gold surfaces may make an effect on the distribution of either gold particle adsorbed to the $TiO_2$ surface or vice versa with the adjustment of the electrostatic interactions. For the investigation, the atomic force microscope (AFM) was used to measure the surface forces between the surfaces as a function of the salt concentration and pH value. With the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory, the forces were quantitatively analyzed to acquire the surface potential and charge density of the surfaces for each salt concentration and each pH value. The surface potential and charge density dependence on the salt concentration was described with the law of mass action, and the pH dependence was explained with the ionizable groups on the surface. The salt concentration dependence of the surface properties, found from the measurement at pH 8 and 11, was consistent with the prediction from the law. It was found that the Glutathione layer had higher values for the surface charge densities and potentials than the titanium dioxide surfaces at pH 8 and 11, which may be attributed to the ionized-functional-groups of the Glutathione layer.
This study was designed to investigate the stress intensity and distribution produced by 1mm activation of retraction archwire with $0^{\circ},\;7^{\circ},\;14^{\circ}$ torque and application of high polk J-hook headgear during retraction of four maxillary incisors using the photoelastic stress analysis. The photoelastic model was made with a PL-3 type epoxy resin which was substituted by alveolar bone portion. Each retraction archwire was fabricated from .020' X .025' stainless steel wire which had vertical loops in 7mm height and hooks for high pull J-hook headgear between central and lateral incisors. The high pull J-hook headgear was applied 35 degree backward and upward to occlusal plane with 200gm pet each side The findings of this study were as follows: 1. In case of $0^{\circ}$ torque, the stress was distributed from cervical 1/8 to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors which were the forms of arc mode. When the high pull J-hook headgear was applied, the stress distributed by arc mode was presented from cervical 1/2 to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors. And the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented from alveolar crest to cervical 1/2 of roots of central and lateral incisors. The stress between apecies of central and Lateral incisors was presented also. 2. In case of $7^{\circ}$ torque, the stress distributed by arc mode was presented from cervical 1/2 to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors. And the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented from alveolar crest to cervical 1/2 of roots of central and lateral incisors. When the high pull J-hook headgear was applied, the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented mote apically than without headgear. The stress between apecies of central and lateral incisors was presented also. 3. In case of $14^{\circ}$ torque, the stress distributed by following the root surface was Presented from alveolar crest to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors. When the high pull J-hook headgear was applied, the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented stronger than without headgear The stress between apecies of central and lateral incisors was presented also.
