  • Game industry, one of cultural-content industry which is considered as a typical knowledge-based industry and creative industry, is not like the overseas expansion of traditional manufacture, and has different strategy and performance of export expansion through product or project-based strategy. Therefore, it should be approached by each content unit, and necessary to look at the factors that make their decision makings of foreign market entry vary. This study focuses on discovering creativity, absorptive capacity and strategic orientation(market orientation and innovation orientation) which affect the difference of distribution's decision making of entry into foreign market in game industry This paper examined 252 cases of online games in order to investigate creativity, absorptive capacity and strategic orientations for each foreign market and what entry type(among licensing, joint distribution, exclusive distribution) they chose according to the products developed in team level. This helps us analyze the factors affecting market orientation and innovation orientation in the perspectives of creativity and absorptive capacity in comprehensive way, and notice the phenomena which use different foreign distribution strategy though there are company incorporated abroad and their results. This study supplements the limit of the existing Resource-Based View, Resource-Dependent View, and traditional international business theories such as Transaction Cost Theory or OLI Paradigm(Eclectic Framework), and proves how company could reduce asymmetry of uncertainty and information in creative industry and whether they accomplish successful overseas expansion according to strategic orientations.

  • The government is promoting policies to increase policy efficiency by supporting corporate growth through corporate support and establishing the Ministry of SMEs and Startups as a control tower for corporate support projects. However, opinions on the efficiency of the government's corporate support project are divided, and this study aims to check how the government's corporate support project affects corporate performance and how absorption capacity and satisfaction, which are internal factors, affect corporate growth. Research was conducted on companies receiving government corporate support projects, and previous studies focused on financial support among government corporate support projects, while the effect of government corporate support was analyzed by dividing government support projects into financial and non-financial support, and absorption capabilities and corporate support satisfaction were analyzed. Through this, the effect on corporate financial performance and non-financial performance was empirically analyzed according to the mediating effect of absorption capacity and corporate support satisfaction in the government's corporate support project. As a result, both the government's financial and non-financial support had a positive effect on financial and non-financial performance, and it was confirmed that both absorption capacity and corporate support satisfaction mediate both financial and non-financial performance, and it was analyzed that it had a positive (+) effect. In order to improve the absorption capacity of a company, it is expected that it will be meaningful to improve the efficiency of the business by defining the problems faced by the company and suggesting solutions through the establishment of a supplier and consumer network.

  • As the digital economy has emerged as a means of building a new business order and creating new values, the number of small business owners participating in digital platforms is gradually increasing. This study aims to check whether small business owners participating in the digital platform are being helped to properly respond to the market environment and establish and implement strategies necessary for growth through learning within the platform. To this end, this study attempted to examine the effect of the absorptive capacity of small business owners using e-commerce platforms on market orientation and the moderating effect of vicarious learning and experiential learning, which are two types of learning within the platform. As a result of verifying the hypothesis through the survey, it was found that the absorption capacity of small business owners using digital platforms positively affected their market orientation. In addition, as a result of the moderating effect analysis, it was found that vicarious learning within the platform strengthens the relationship between absorptive capacity and market orientation. This result implies that small business owners can not only prepare for market uncertainties through indirect learning (vicarious learning) but also establish strategies to provide products and services that meet the market's needs. On the other hand, the effect of experiential learning was found to lower market orientation, which means that previous business experiences can rather lower attention to the environment. The significance and implications of the study were presented.

  • Regarding the discourse on the correlation between governmental financial support and firm performance, much emphasis has been placed on the role of individual corporate characteristics as well as spatial features. However, there is a notable scarcity of empirical research examining the integrated impact of corporate and cluster characteristics on managerial performance. This study addresses this gap by empirically analyzing the financial and non-financial outcomes resulting from specific allocations of governmental financial support. Additionally, it explores corporate and cluster characteristics predicted to moderate the influence between governmental financial support and firm performance. The analysis employs a two-level hierarchical linear model (HLM) at individual and group levels. The data, reorganized based on business registration numbers at the firm and cluster levels, ultimately utilized panel data from 83,395 firms and 641 clusters. The research findings indicate that governmental financial support demonstrates a positive effect (+) on both sales and patents for firms, suggesting its effectiveness in complementing market failures. Results from the hierarchical linear model analysis show that when combined with human capital capacity, absorptive capacity, and cluster network density, governmental financial support exhibits significant positive effects on sales. This study contributes theoretical and practical insights by analyzing the relationship between governmental financial support and firm performance using a two-level hierarchical linear model. It highlights the role of corporate characteristics such as human capital and absorptive capacity, along with cluster characteristics like cluster network density, in moderating the effects of governmental financial support on firm performance.

  • Recently, many firms have been more interested in how the competitiveness of the supply chain can be enhanced, rather than that of the respective company. The purpose of this study is not only to investigate the relationships among the trust between companies, the supply chain integration, and the supply chain performance, but also to demonstrate how the firm size and the absorptive capacity can moderate these relationships. To conduct the hypothesis test including the causal relations between two factors and the moderating effects, 111 data were collected through a survey. As a result, the supply chain performance was positively affected by the supply chain integration as well as the trust between the companies. In addition, the trust had a significant effect on the supply chain performance. The result of the moderating effect of firm size indicates that, compared with a larger group, a smaller group has a stronger relationship between the trust and the supply chain performance, while the relationship between the supply chain integration and the supply chain performance is much stronger in the large group than the small group. As for the moderating effect of absorptive capacity, a higher absorptive group has stronger relationships between the trust and supply chain integration, and supply chain integration and supply chain performance than a lower absorptive group. The findings would provide significant implications for supply chain partners with different sizes and absorptive capacity.

  • The research analysis will be proceeded with a specific question: The kind of endeavors the ICT providers must focus on within the ICT industry's Schumpeterian pattern of using barriers of knowledge during the rapid technological transformation and pursuing appropriability of guaranteed opportunities. The study was carried out by targeting and conducting empirical observations on the proliferation of technological patent applications made by ICT companies among approximately 5,700 listed North American corporations. The risk of arising cases, in which late-coming non-ICT companies adopt and participate in the technical pertinence and concept derived from the technological advent, will be treated as an independent variable in a survival analysis. Through this analysis, innovative technological attempts and absorption capabilities indicate significance.

  • In this invited paper, the authors give an overview of the new design technology for a metallic backplane-less metamaterial(MM) absorber and discuss a selection of examples. In contrast to a common MM absorber structure, the metallic pattern layer of the presented structure is placed facing toward the incident wave propagation direction to reduce the radar cross section(RCS) due to the metallic pattern itself at frequencies other than the targeted absorption frequency bands. The ability of the MM backplane-less absorber to exhibit broadband absorption performance and irregular surface applications will be discussed.
