This paper aims to confirm the necessity of the consignment system in Korea's trucking market for the purpose of analyzing the difference in perception between the transportation company and the consignment owner to provide a basis for continuous development of the cargo transportation business. A survey was conducted on the current status of the domestic transportation market with transportation companies and consignment owners, and the perceptions between the two were compared and analyzed. Overall, satisfaction with the consignment system was in the order of transportation companies handling supplies, transportation companies that did not pay supplies, consignment owners belonging to supply companies, and consignment orders belonging to non-volume companies. Similar results were obtained in individual questions. In order for transport companies and consignment owners to coexist and develop in the freight car transport market, it will be necessary to prepare a strategy to increase the satisfaction of consignment owners belonging to transport companies that do not handle relatively low-satisfaction.

There has been a conventional wisdom that a higher level of autonomy of a foreign subsidiary could lead to a higher level of subsidiary performance. Most MNCs seeking for managing localization efficiently followed this wisdom. But there has been no empirical evidence so far in academic journal that there is a clear positive relationship between subsidiary autonomy and performance. Recently most MNCs are trying to pursue a global strategy for managing foreign sudsidiaries, in which the coordination role of parent company is essential. For the MNCs seeking global strategy the coordination role of the parent and subsidiary autonomy appears to have a trade off relationship. It is uncertain in the situation that the positive relationship between subsidiary autonomy and performance is still effective. Therefore the purpose of the study is to provide an empirical evidence of the the hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between subsidiary autonomy and performance, The study utilized the questionaire survey of Korean subsidiaries of MNCs. The empirical results of the study showed the significant positive relationship between two variables, which is cinsistent to the hypotheses.

This study examines the effect of external environments such as technological change and competitive intensity on HQ-subsidiary cooperation. It was empirically tested by a Korean sample to verify the validity of the research framework. The empirical result confirms that external environments increase the odds of HQ-subsidiary cooperation. The result also indicates that technology change and HQ-subsidiary cooperation are related. The data support that firms facing a high rate of technology change stress the relationship between headquarters and foreign subsidiaries. The result also confirms that competitive intensity directly influences HQ-subsidiary cooperation.

This study examines the moderating effect of HQ-subsidiary cooperation on the relationships between standardization and on-time completion of new product development (NPD) and international new product rollout (INPR). It was empirically tested by a Korean sample to verify the validity of the research framework. The results show that the higher the HQ-subsidiary/agent cooperation, the stronger the effect of NPD timeliness on INPR timeliness. However, HQ-subsidiary cooperation does not moderate the relationship between standardization and INPR timeliness. Under conditions in which the subsidiary and headquarters have a positive relationship, open communications, and regular interactions, more successful new product development in terms of planned time schedule is strongly associated with a much faster introduction to overseas markets.

The high speed of an engine balance box may cause significant additional gear noise. Gear accuracy is the most useful key to reduce gear noise, but the small tooth width and thin-walled anti-backlash gear introduce challenges to the manufacturing process. In order to reduce the gear noise caused by gear pitch error, this paper investigates the correlation between influencing factors and gear pitch error by analyzing the processing technology, tooling fixture, and equipment accuracy. By improving the process and optimizing the gear design, the gear machining accuracy was improved and the processing cost was saved.

In the past, because Korean private venture capital firms could get government support and subsidies, they could be survived in the market without having required management capabilities, advanced venture investment techniques, and professional supporting agencies and institutions. However, business environments have changed a lot recently. Now, only through identifying the optimal financial structures(the ratio of debt to equity), Korean private venture capital firms can minimize investment risks and ensure higher profits. Since Modigliani and Miller(1958) criticized the existence of the optimal financial structure, there have been numerous studies on the optimal financial structure of firms. However, there is no empirical study investigating the financial structure of venture capital firms. The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between firm characteristics, financial security indies, and financial profit indices of korean private venture capital firms. We gathered the data from various sources, including the web pages and the financial statements for 2003 and 2004. By using the student's t-test and the correlation analysis, we showed that there are differences in the current ratio and the ratio of net profit to net sales between new and old korean private venture capital firms. Even though it is known that korean private venture capital firms does not have enough knowledge and investment technique to compete with global venture capital firms, our result show that old korean private venture capital firms have already built some knowledge and understanding of venture capital investing.

We aimed to generate basic breeding data for melon (Cucumis melo L.). A total of 219 melon accessions conserved at the National Agrobiodiversity Center (NAC) in Rural Development Administration (RDA) were used in this study, of which 72 (33%) were collected from India. The majority of accessions showed orange (42%) and white (36%) flesh color. In addition to phenotypic evaluations, the accessions were genotyped using a molecular marker for the carotenoid biosynthesis gene CmOr. DNA fragments of the expected size were amplified in 205 out of 219 accessions. Digestion of the PCR products with HinfI restriction endonuclease showed 100% concordance between phenotype and genotype in green-fleshed accessions, but 98%, 97%, and 80% concordance in orange-, white-, and creamy-fleshed accessions, respectively. Sequence analysis revealed single nucleotide changes in the three positions of SNP1, SNP2 and SNP1int in the CmOr gene among accessions. These newly found alleles suggest that there are multiple mechanisms in determining fruit flesh color in melon. Also, the phenotype data of diverse accessions obtained in this study will be a valuable source for melon breeding.

우리 농민들도 선진국의 농민들처럼 조합이나 회사를 만들어 '사업'을 해야 하는 것입니다. 그러나 우리 농민들은 '수익을 낼 수 있는' 회사나 판매조합을 만들지 못하고 있습니다. 농민들 간의 협동이 잘 되지 않고 있습니다. 선진국의 농민들은 적어도 도 단위 이상 또는 전국 단위로 하나의 품목별 조립이나 회사를 만들어 가공, 판매, 수출을 하고 있습니다. 조합이나 회사를 만들어도 수익을 낼 수 있을 정도로 실력을 갖춘 사람을 구할 수 없습니다. 사업을 해서 돈을 벌려면 굉장한 사업 수완을 지녀야 합니다. 그러나 우리 농업계는 그렇게 훈련된 경영자와 중간 관리자가 없습니다.

본고는 최근 미국원자력학회가 주관해서 $\ulcorner$새 천년에서의 경영(Managing in the New Millennium)$\lrcorner$이란 주제로 실시한 미국 원자력 발전 회사들의 워크숍(미국 플로리다주 Amelia Island, 8.8$\~$12)내용을 간추린 것이다. 회의의 주된 목표는 원자력 발전 회사에 근무하는 전문가들이 모여 토론함으로써 원자력 발전 회사들이 경영과 기술의 진화를 통해서 새로운 경쟁적 전력 시장에서 살아 남을 수 있는 경쟁력 강화 방법들을 모색하기 위한 것이다. 우리의 전력 시장도 경쟁적 체제로 변화를 모색하고 있어서 우리에게도 미래의 원자력 산업계의 진로 방향을 결정하는데 많은 단서를 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
