Recently in Japan, fracturing was observed on the diagonal member of a through truss bridge at the boundary region with the concrete slab. Local corrosion damage where the diagonal member was enclosed in the concrete slab is an important factor in the fracture. In this study, accelerated exposure tests were carried out on concrete-steel model specimens simulating steel members at the boundary with concrete. Fatigue tests were then performed on the corroded model specimens. Accelerated exposure tests of the S6-cycle, which is carried out on the model specimens for 150, 300, 450 and 600 da ys. Their surface geometry was then measured. From the accelerated exposure test results, change in maximum and mean corrosion depths was determined according to the testing periods. The effect of local corrosion on fatigue strength was also presented based on the fatigue test results.

The structure which is located in special surroundings like ocean-environment is physically and chemically eroded by seawater or salt damage, and then concrete-structure becomes deteriorated by iron corrosion and swelling pressure which leads to remarkably decline durability due to cracks and exploitation. As a measure against salt damage, it is actively being examined to use the blended cement that controls salt damage and fix chloride in the process of hydration. In this study, therefore, to examine the property of marine concrete added admixture, marine concrete is manufactured by adding high-strength admixture(omega2000) by 0, 5, 10, and 15% to low heat-blended cement. Then it shows that the compressive strength of manufactured marine cement tends to increase and chloride penetration resistance improves.

In order to predict the remaining life of marine concrete structures under climatic loads, it is necessary to develop an analytical approach to predict the time and space dependent deterioration of concrete structures due to mainly chloride attack up to corrosion initiation and additional deterioration like cracking of cover concrete. This study aims to introduce FEM model for life-time simulation of concrete structures subjected to chloride attack. In order to consider uncertainties in materials as well as environmental parameters for the prediction, Monte Carlo Simulation is integrated in that FEM modeling for reliability-based remaining service life prediction. The paper is organized as follows: firstly general scheme for reliability-based remaining service life of concrete structures is introduced, then the FEM models for chloride penetration, corrosion product expansion and cover cracking are briefly explained, finally an example is demonstrated and the effects of localization of chloride concentration and corrosion product expansion on service life using above model are discussed.

Immense quantities of coal combustion by-products are produced every year, and only a small fraction of them are currently utilized. Therefore, this study investigated and analyzed the applications of porous concrete for the efficient utilization of bottom ash. This study examines on application of polymer to improve strength properties of porous concrete using coal-ash. As the results, when the mixing ratio of bottom ash increases, void ratio and coefficient of permeability of porous concrete increases, but its strength decreases. Also, as the mixing ratio of polymer increases, its void ratio and coefficient of permeability decreases. When specific amount of polymer is mixed, we can find its strength properties are improved.

It is essential that concrete component is made up with aggregate, cement and water. But today, Public concern is increasing of a variety structure and ocean environmental, resource recycle. Also, According to heat of hydration rising, Concrete is make a causative of concrete-crack. Concrete-crack cause a falling-off in quality of concrete. consequently, High-performance concrete is evaluated by concrete material properties and carbonation resistance with different admixture(fixing fly-ash 20%), granulated blast furnace slag replacement ratio (30%, 45%) different W/B (26%, 30%, 34%) and XRD(X-ray Diffraction) analysis.

In this study, chloride content of marine concrete bridge at the south coast in 5~34years was calculated based on the measured data and the validity of the proposed value was evaluated. Also, correlation of existence of salt injury prevention coating, chloride content, carbonation depth and the compressive strength of marine concrete bridges were derived and relationship of the four was evaluated. According to the research results, surface chloride content value in the tidal zone proposed form KCI 2009 and value in the splash zone and atmospheric zone proposed form Cheong et al.(2005) was the most valid. Also, salt injury prevention coating of marine concrete bridges had the outstanding effect of preventing chloride content penetration, carbonation depth and reduction in the compressive strength. Compressive strength of concrete was reduced by the increase of carbonation depth and chloride content.

In this paper, the electromagnetic wave transmittance of the reinforced concrete structure wall was analyzed using the performance measurement system of electromagnetic wave shielding. Recently, electromagnetic wave shielding technologies on the reinforced concrete wall conditions have been studied, and the shielding effectiveness have been tested on unit cell size. However, the unit cell size tests have problems on that the measurement range for shielding performance is insufficient and it is difficult to reflect the real conditions of the concrete wall. Therefore, we constructed a shielding performance measurement system using a large sample of 2.2m × 2.2m like a real wall. To verify the measurement system, general reinforced concrete test samples were selected, and real shielding performance measurements and numerical analysis were proceeded. Test and numerical analysis results showed similar tendencies in the evaluation frequency range of 75MHz to 2GHz. Thus we validated the effectiveness of this shielding performance measurement system.

Recently, in the concrete industry, the development and commercialization of low-carbon products of ready-mixed concrete have emerged as part of the efforts to realize carbon neutrality. This study aims to investigate the current status of environmental product declaration(EPD) of ready-mixed concrete and to analyze the characteristics of carbon emissions by compressive strength, life cycle stage, and region. To this end, the related certification system requiring the calculation of carbon emissions in the concrete industry was analyzed. The target of analyzing the current status of carbon emissions was set as a product of ready-mixed concrete that acquired EPD certification based on the life cycle assessment method. In addition, the trend of carbon emissions according to each characteristic was reviewed by analyzing carbon emissions by the life cycle of ready-mixed concrete products, analyzing carbon emissions by standard, and analyzing carbon emissions by region. As a result, the carbon emissions in the pre-production stage were 99% compared to total carbon emissions., and as it increased from 18MPa to 40MPa, carbon emissions also increased. Even with the same specifications, the carbon emissions in the capital region were higher than in the southern region.
Recently, as concerns over environmental issues are raised more and more trend to use recycled waste for producing construction materials is also raised. Especially, a case of waste resin is considerably destroying the environment due to disposal way that most waste resin produced is disposed of landfill. This study is performed by polymer concrete with recycled PET resin in terms of obtaining safely clean construction resources and protection of environment. High setting shrinkage and sensitivity to heat are main disadvantages of Polymer Concrete (PC) despites of a lot merits. The aim of this study is to investigate basic properties such as setting shrinkage, length change and sensitivity to heat about PET recycled polymer concrete. The other is to check the possibility of use of Montmorillonite as one of a lot of additive without special coupling agent. As results of experiments, various properties of polymer concrete with recycled PET resin are similar with conventional PC except that polymerization time is longer. Montmorillonite was efficiently used to reduce setting shrinkage, length change and coenicient of thermal expansion related to heat with enhanced strength
The use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcing bars in concrete structures has been increased as an alternative of steel reinforcement which has shown greater vulnerability to corrosion problem. However, the long-term performance of concrete members with FRP reinforcement is still questioned in comparison to the used of steel reinforcement. This study presents the results of an experimental study on the long-term behaviors of GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) bar reinforced concrete beams after exposed to accelerated aging in an environmental chamber with temperature of $46^{\circ}C$ ($115^{\circ}F$) and 80% of relative humidity up to 300 days. The objectives of this research was to compare strength degradation and change of ductility between GFRP reinforced concrete beams and steel reinforcement beams after accelerated aging. Two types (wrapped and sand-coated surface) of GFRP bars and steel were reinforced. in concrete beams. Test results show that the failure modes of GFRP bar reinforced concrete beams are very similar with traditional RC beams, and the change of load-carrying capacity of steel reinforcing concrete beam is greater than that of GFRP bar reinforcing concrete beam under the accelerated aging. Test result also shows that the use of GFRP reinforcing in concrete could be introduced more brittle failure than that of steel reinforcing for practical application. The deformability factor up to compression failures indicates no significant variation before and after exposure of accelerated aging.
