  • This study investigated personality and environmental variables influencing peer bullying by sex and by differences between bullies, victims, bully-victims, and normal children. Findings were that the proportion of the total sample involved in peer bullying was 47.88%. Of the bullying children, 38.15% were bully-victims, followed by victims and bullies. The bullying of both boys and girls was influenced by exposure to violence, delinquent friends, and peer support. Bullies had higher levels of aggression and exposure to violence than normal children and higher levels of peer support than victims. Victims had higher levels of delinquent friends and exposure to violence than normal children. Bully-victims showed higher levels of aggression, immaturity, delinquent friends, exposure to violence and lower levels of peer support than normal children.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the effect of home environmental stimuli and mothers' personal variables in multicultural family on children's linguistic abilities. The object of this study is 132 infants and their mothers of 82 infant education institutes located in P city. The main results of the study are as follows: First, the means of communication (generally Korean) is found to have the greatest effect 0n children's linguistic abilities of the personal variables of mothers from multicultural families. Second, the formation of stable and predictable environments affects children's linguistic abilities (receptive and expressive language) most of all the home environmental stimuli. Third, children's receptive language was most affected by the formation of stable and predictable environments, and their expressive language was most affected by the aspects of physical environments.

  • This study investigated the relationships of preschool children's interactive peer play, stimulated home environment, and mother-child interaction. A total of 255 children were selected in this study. Data were analyzed with Pearson correlations and covariance structural analysis by using SPSS and AMOS, a statistical program for structural equation modeling. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, interactive peer play was associated with stimulated home environment and mother-child interaction. Second, the results confirmed the pathway from stimulated home environment via mother-child interaction to interactive peer play showing a significantly good model fit. The paths from stimulated home environment to children's interactive peer play were mediated by mother-child interaction.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of emotion, home environment, school environment on self-regulated learning, focusing on motivational and behavioral regulation. Participants are 2070 students from 95 middle schools of Korean Children and Youth Panel Study(KCYPS). The variables of emotions, home environment, school environment and motivational regulation, behavioral regulation were analyzed using correlation analysis and multiple regression. The results were as follows. First, emotion, home environment, school environment were correlated with on motivational and behavioral regulation. Second, emotion explained motivational regulation and behavioral regulation of self-regulated learning as well as home envionment and school environment. All subvariables of emotion were significantly related to behavior control. Third, among subvariables of home environment, parents education and occupations, and annual household income were not significantly related to motivational regulation and behavioral regulation. However, home economic level perceived by students and parents' interest and abuse on students had great effects. Forth, school environment has a greater explanatory effect on motivational regulation and behavioral regulation. Particularly, friendships and relationships with teachers during learning activities had a significant effect. These results showed that emotion and psychological environment of learning environment are important variables affecting on self-regulated learning and suggests the need for researches on these variables.
