Optimal Contract under the Nagoya Protocal for the Benefit Sharing (나고야의정서 하에서 생물유전자원 이용의 최적계약 연구)

  • The objective of the Nagoya Protocol is to enhance biodiversity by the mean of economic incentives but there has been yet consistent lack of realized contracts between genetic resource users and holders due to the asymmetric information among the parties. This paper presents a principle-agent model to provide optimal contracts under asymmetric information in order to achieve the sustainable biological resource. The model concludes the royalty contracts over the fixed lump-sum benefit transfer as profit sharing mechanism.

  • 유산균인 비피도박테리아는 사람과 동물에서 유익한 프로바이오틱 미생물로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 비피도박테리아 균주의 분류를 위한 repetitive DNA element PCR fingerprinting (ERIC-또는 TAP-PCR)의 사용을 평가하였다. 사람분변으로부터 분리한 알려지지 않은 비피도박테리움 균주와 한국생명공학연구원 생물자원센터로부터 분양받은 표준균주를 가지고 분류 및 동정에 ERIC-PCR과 TAP-PCR을 이용한 RAPD-fingerprinting을 수행하였다. 그 결과 비피도박테리움 균주에 대한 속과 종단위의 분류가 가능하였으며, 실험에 사용된 모든 비피도박테리움 균주는 RAPD-fingerprinting 분석을 통해 유전적 다양성을 확인하였다. 또한 ERIC2와 TAP1 프라이머를 이용한 실험에서는 Bifidobacterium adolescenits 특이 유전자 단편을 확인하였으며 이는 B. adolescenits 균주의 동정에 유용할 것으로 사료된다.

Development of an Efficient Procedure for the Construction of Metagenomic Library from Environment Samples (효율적인 Metagenomic Library의 제작 방법 탐구)

  • I investigated an effective way to generate a metagenomic library from DNA prepared from environental samples. The sizes of DNA extracted from environmental samples were usually in the range of 10 to 100 kbp as estimated from $0.4\%$ agarose gel electrophoresis. Because of this small size, a fosmid, rather than BAC, was chosen as a vector. It was found that, for the successful generation of metagenomic library, the selection of DNA with the sized of about 40 kbp was critical and, therefore, a simple agarose gel electrophoresis system was developed to select this size of DNA. By the procedure described in this report, I obtained metagenomic libraries containing 25,000 fosmid clones, which corresponded to 1,000 Mb of metagenomic DNA.

  • Leucine-responsive Regulatory Protein (Lrp) is a global regulator involved in modulating a variety of metabolic functions, including the catabolism and anabolism of amino acids as well as pili synthesis. In addition, there is growing evidences that Lrp may play an important role when cells make transition between rich and lean nutritional conditions. In this review, the biochemical characteristics of Lrp are described to provide a good example that shows how bacteria adapt to nutrient limitation and environmental stress.

  • 플라스틱 사출 제품은 다양한 가전제품과 하이테크 제품에 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 현재의 치열한 경쟁적 비즈니스 환경에서 플라스틱 사출 제품 제조업자들은 고객을 만족시키면서 경쟁력을 얻기 위하여 다른 경쟁자들보다 먼저 새로운 제품을 시장에 출시하고 신제품의 개발기간을 줄이기 위한 노력을 할 여유가 부족하다. 따라서 무한경쟁의 시장에서 살아남기 위해서는 제조업자들은 시장 마켓 점유를 빠르게 올리는 것과 동시에 제품의 가격 경쟁력을 가져야 한다. 특징기반 모델의 구조는 현재 연구에서 3D 제작 도구로서 일반적으로 적용되고 있으며 신제품 개발 엔지니어들이 새로운 제품의 개념을 개발하는 데에도 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 특징기반 플라스틱 사출제품을 위한 유전자 알고리즘과 Support Vector Regression (SVR) 기반의 새로운 하이브리드 비용 평가 모델을 제안한다. 제안하는 하이브리드 모델은 기존의 플라스틱 사출제품의 비용평가절차와 계산을 위해 필요로 하는 변수들을 극적으로 간단하게 하고 줄일 수 있다. 사례연구에서는 제안하는 하이브리드 모델과 기존의 multilayer perceptron networks (MLP) 및 pure SVR과의 비교분석을 통하여 제안모델이 플라스틱 사출 제품의 개발단계에서의 비용평가문제를 해결하는데 효율성과 효과성이 있음을 입증한다.

  • The memory is very sensitive to the soft error because the integration of the memory increases under low power environment. Error correcting codes (ECCs) are commonly used to protect against the soft errors. This paper proposes a new genetic ECC design method which reduces power consumption. Power is minimized using the degrees of freedom in selecting the parity check matrix of the ECCs. Therefore, the genetic algorithm which has the novel genetic operators tailored for this formulation is employed to solve the non-linear power optimization problem. Experiments are performed with Hamming code and Hsiao code to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.

  • Four polymorphic allozymes were used for genetic analysis of overwintering populations of field diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella (Linne). Different allele frequencies were found among three local populations of Andong, Youngchon, and Yangsan in all loci. Two allozyme loci (acid phosphatase and phosphoglucomutase) showed significant deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in allele frequencies among these populations. Estimated Nei's genetic distance varied from 0.0151 between Yangsan and Youngchon to 0.0877 between Andong and Youngchon. Compared with the previous genetic distances in this moth, a little higher genetic differentiation among these overwintering populations suggests that there would be a specific genetic bottleneck in each local population during overwintering period.

  • A fuzzy controller need membership functions and the control rules depend on heuristic knowledge of expertises entirely. On account of, it is possible that a desired performance of a fuzzy controller can not be guaranteed or easily degraded under some circumstances such as a change of plant parameter which exporters do not considered. Therefore, in this paper we tried to increase the controller's efficiency by adjusting the control rules and the parameters of the membership functions by using a genetic algorithm. We also proposed the Self-Organizing Fuzzy Controller which uses the Fusion Method in order to minimize the number of control rules and to construct the intuitive controller. For validation of the proposed algorithm, we design the Autonomous Guided Vehicle Controller, then apply to variant condition.

Draft genome sequence of Pseudoalteromonas sp. meg-B1 isolated from marine sediment (해양퇴적물로부터 분리된 Pseudoalteromonas sp. meg-B1의 유전체 분석)

  • Pseudoalteromonas sp. meg-B1 belonging to Gammaproteobacteria was isolated from marine sediment in Jeju island. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of strain meg-B1 with a size of approximately 4.15 Mbp and a mean G + C content of 41.2%. The draft genome included 3,606 coding sequences, and 9 ribosomal RNA and 94 transfer RNA genes. In the draft genome, genes (e.g. choline dehydrogenase) involved in the accumulation of compatible solutes required for survival in marine environments have been identified.

  • Lactobacillus plantarum is a Gram-positive, facultative heterofermentative, nonspore-forming nonmotile bacterium found in a wide range of environmental niches. Here we present the complete genome sequence of L. plantarum SK151 isolated from kimchi, which shows high adhesion to intestinal epithelial cells. The genome is 3,231,249 bp in length and has a GC content of 44.6%. The genome contains genes related to cell adhesion and a complete operon for riboflavin biosynthesis.
