Physicochemical Properties of Cement Paste Containing Mg(OH)2 Cured by CO2 curing Method (CO2 양생을 이용한 Mg(OH)2 혼입 시멘트 페이스트의 물리화학적 특성)

  • Corrosion of the rebar is one of the main factors affecting the durability of reinforced concrete in the world which lead to the failure of the reinforced concrete structures. In this research, a new method of fixing $CO_2$ is practiced to improve the carbonation resistance of the concrete. Brucite($Mg(OH)_2$), a kind of common $CO_2$ fixation materials, was added into ordinary Portland cement paste. Samples containing 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% $Mg(OH)_2$ were exposed to an accelerated carbonation curing regime with 20% concentration of $CO_2$, 60% relative humidity, and a temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ until tested at 3d, 7d, 14d and 28d. After 28d of $CO_2$ accelerated curing, in the paste containing $Mg(OH)_2$, magnesian calcite was detected by SEM-EDX. Meanwhile, the paste containing $Mg(OH)_2$ exhibit the better pore distribution than ordinary Portland cement paste and the compressive strength of the cement paste containing $Mg(OH)_2$ were more than 50Mpa.

  • 양액재배에 있어서 환경변화 및 작물 생육단계에 따라 양액 성분의 흡수율을 추적하여 개별 양수분의 혼합 비율과 양액과 배액의 혼입 농도를 자동 조절하는 순환식 양액관리 시스템이 이상적으로 인식되고 있다. 국내에서는 양액재배 면적이 증가하고 있음에도 불구하고 아직까지 완전한 순환식 양액재배 시스템이 사용되는 사례는 거의 없다. 일부 순환식 양액재배 장비를 갖춘 곳에서도 단지 회수된 배액에 양수분을 첨가해 일정한 농도로만 유지시키고 있는 실정이어서 양액내 특정 성분이 저하되거나 높아져서 심한 성분의 불균형을 초래하고 있다.   • In this paper, material property of fiber reinforced concrete(FRC) according to the steel fiber, glass fiber and carbon fiber blended ratio. The fiber reinforced concretes are increased mechanical strength, because the fibers are dispersed with randomly direction and disturb crack progression in concretes. Adhesive fracture is occurred slowly at interface between fiber and concrete, and the fracture energy is absorbed due to softening phenomenon.

  • Commercial synthetic resins with great amount of hydrogen atoms were investigated for neutron shielding aggregates. Total three types of resins were considered in this study: high density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), and ultra molecular weight polyethylene (UPE). When these resins replaced 20, 40, 60 vol% of fine aggregates, mechanical properties were first evaluated including compressive and tensile strengths, and then image/microstructure analyses such as cross-section analysis, SEM, and X-ray CT were performed. The results showed that the compressive and tensile strengths decreased with the increase of replacement ratio of HDPE and PP, which was found through image analysis that it was closely related to the distribution of resins at the failure surface of test specimens. The strength reduction of UPE was quite small compared to HDPE and PP but it abruptly increased when the replacement level exceeded 60 vol%. The results of microstructure analyses indicated that the replacement level significantly affected the amount of air void so that it is critical to determine the reasonable amount of UPE to make cementitous materials for neutron shielding.

  • This study analyzed fire resistance characteristics of high strength concrete followd by changes of mixing rate in organic fibers of PP, NY and CL. PP+NY+CL=0.02+0.01+0.02 was better than the mixing of other fibers in fire resistance characteristics.

Resistance of Freeze-Thaw and Strength Development of Recycled Concrete (재생콘크리트의 강도발현 및 동결융해 저항성 특성)

  • The strength and freeze-thaw test were carried out in order to use recycled aggregate as crushed aggregate in concrete. The recycled concrete had a lower flexture and compressive strengths than ordinary concrete, but the inclusion of fly ash shows similar results in both concretes. The resistance of freeze-thaw was strongly influenced by W/C ratio, content of recycled aggregate and fly ash, and it was also found that the resistance was higher when W/C ratio and fly ash content was lower. and was superior when replacement level of recycled aggregate reached to 80%.

  • In order to investigate the harmful effects of Fusarium, producing mycotoxins, contaminated cereals, two months feeding study was carried out in SPF-ICR mice. Mice diets were incorporated with 30% Fusarium infected wheat, nepal barley or barley. The wheat was processed to flour. The nepal barley and barley were polished by 68% and 58%, respectively. The cereal incorporating amount in mice diet were 0, 10, 30 and 50% for each processed cereal. Five week-old mice were fed with the prepared diet for 2 months. The effects of Fusarium contaminated cereals on the mice were observed after the feeding. The rates of body weight gain, diet and water consumption were not changed. There were no significant changes on hematology, blood biochemistry, gross and histopathological evaluation, organ weights in all treatment groups. These results suggest that the diets have no deleterious effects to ICR mice.

  • The rate of recycling of waste concrete, which represents the majority of construction-related waste, is increasing. However, a general recognition of the inferior qualify of recycled aggregates and their lower grade of compressive strength, bending strength, shear strength, frost resistance and ductility make the application of recycled aggregates to structures insufficient. Therefore, this study conducted material and member experiments by adding steel fiber for the purpose of improving the properties of recycled aggregate concrete. To synthesize the experimental results, it was found that specimens with a 30% steel fiber admixture had levels of compressive strength, tensile strength and frost resistance that were equivalent to or higher than the standard specimen, and that concrete that had a 30% replacement of recycled aggregates with steel fiber was suitable for application to actual structures.

  • In this study, the self-healing performance of mortar beams containing self-healing materials was evaluated through experiments. Normal mortar beams and self-healing mortar beams were used In the experiments. The self-healing performance was evaluated by comparing the mortar compressive strength, member strength, and self-healing effects of cracks. The experimental results showed that the compressive strength of mortar containing self-healing material was smaller than that of normal mortar, but the ratio of 118 days compressive strength to 28 days compressive strength was the same. The member strength tended to increase with increasing curing period. In normal mortar specimens, the member strength did not recover even if the curing period increased, but the strength of the self-healing mortar specimens tended to recover as reaction products were produced. The crack width tended to decrease after the healing periods in both specimens, but the reaction product was observed only in the self-healing mortar specimens.

Weedy Rice Occurrence Rate and Position in Transplanted and Direct Seeded Farmer's Field (농가포장에서 재배양식별 앵미(잡초성 벼)의 발생정도 및 입치)

  • In order to trace the survival route of weedy rice in Korean farmer's field, occurrence rate and position of weedy rice, number of weedy rice plants per $m^2$, in transplanted and direct seeded field were investigated. The highest occurrence rate of weedy rice in transplanted field was 5.5%. Number of weedy rice plants in direct seeded field was higher than that in transplanted field. In transplanted field, most of the weedy rice were grown within hills of cultivated rice and only a few was grown between hills of the cultivated rice, however in direct seeded field the number of weedy rice occurred between hills or rows of cultivated rice was higher than that occurred within hills or rows. Weedy rice occurrence rate in the field of .non-recommended rice variety was higher than that in the field of recommended variety. The main survival route of weedy rice in transplanted field was supposed to be mixture of weedy rice seeds with cultivated rice, and that in direct seeded field to be natural survival.
