That draw many scholars' attention to studying Yanbian District and Korean Chinese as a research theme for area studies. Unfortunately they neglect the study of the commerce and service industry in Yanbian city, which has indicated its rapid growth by the market economic policy of China, and an inter-exchange between Korean Chinese and Korean. The purpose of this study is to provide an information to many Korean potential investors for an investment strategy of the commerce and service industry in Yanji city. In order to do so, this study consists of three major steps. First of all. we analyzed the regional structure and locational characteristics of the commerce and service industry in Yanji City. Secondly, we investigated the characteristics of consumers behavior toward purchasing goods and service facilities. Finally, we supplied the proper businesses and location information for investment to Korean firms according to the results that identified above. In conclusion, we suggest that the proper businesses to invest are department store, retail clothing store, shoes store, cosmetics store, electronics and home appliances store, oversea branch offices of trading companies, Korean-style restaurant, hotel, nightclubs, Korean-style music room(Noraebang), travel agencies, beauty parlors, video rooms, electronic games, and so on. We also suggest that the proper locational areas to invest those businesses are the core area of the commerce and service industry in Yanji, where are Xinxing(新興) 3-zone and Jinxue(進學) 2-zone expressed in the Yanji city figure.

  • Electronic Commerce is rapidly expanding with the development of internet and will be very useful for the consumers in the future. However, we could not find many studies on consumers' attitudes and behaviors in the cybermarket. The purpose of this study is to analyze perceptions of college students in Seoul and Chunchon on Electronic Commerce. The main findings are as follows. First, they prefer surfing on the net with search engines like Simmamai or Yahoo to directly looking over the homepages of department stores and advertisement sites. Students in Chunchon, especially, tend to check out banners at E-mail sites. Second, most of the students get information about shopping mall sites and products from their friends, newspapers or magazines. And they want to have information (advertisements) classified by brand names of the products. Third, students in Seoul rely on brand names more than those in Chunchon do. Students in Chunchon, compared with those in Seoul, believe more kinds of products are available in the internet shopping mall. They complain, however, deficiencies of information about the products and high prices. They want the price information compared with those in traditional markets. Fourth, they feel very uncomfortable about informing their credit card numbers, and thus prefer payments with Electronic Money. And finally, they are not satisfied with return and exchange policies and after-sale services. They also complain that the products are not delivered safely when they are not home. They want the delivery-date indicated.

  • This research has examined in depth professional books, advance research, related statistics, and internet data to present security environment changes and countermeasures that may arise due to changes in the domestic hospitality industry. The Hospitality industry characteristics and the trend of change at home and abroad were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, the global hospitality industry has minimized the negative impact of the gambling industry held by casinos through Integrated Resorts, and confirmed that the individual characteristics of various hospitality industries, such as Hotels, MICE, Performances and Shopping, have been developed in such a way that they can exert positive synergy. It has confirmed that South Korea is also trying to revitalize its sluggish economic growth by setting up strategies for industrializing the Integrated Resort and developing the Integrated Resort industry. Based on this, the security environment changes that could occur in individual Integrated Resort companies and the region were expected from five perspectives, and three levels of government/industry/personal response measures were proposed for effective response to changes in the security environment.

  • Neoliberalizing nature spreads widely across diverse fields and areas. Commodifying water is the most frequent case conflicting with the stance, water as commons. This paper reviews the commodity versus commons debate in other countries leading to the importance of wider perspective considering regional contexts, and then examines the case of Jeju with that regard entirely depending freshwater on underground acquifer. In Jeju, the sale of bottled water by private corporation has been in confrontation with the declaration of water as commons by Jeju government. But, the commodity versus commons conflict over water hinders more important concerns such as the abundant use by tourism related hotels and golf courses, the free largest agricultural use, and the production and sale of bottled water by Jeju government itself. The real focus of concern should be given to the constraints on increasing water rate for tourism businesses, charging fees on agriculture, and the local development imperatives. The dual stance of Jeju government in promoting water as commodity as well as promulgating water as commons seems to be a case adding diversity to the geography of neoliberalizing nature.
