A narrative research on the job and the job-related learning of a mechanical engineer - an exemplary study on the characteristic of job-related learning of engineer in work place and it's implication on engineering education (기계설계분야 중견 엔지니어의 일과 학습에 관한 내러티브 연구 - 엔지니어의 직무관련 학습의 맥락과 공학교육에 대한 시사점 찾기)

  • This study inquired following research questions by a narrative research method : What was the job of an engineer in mechanical design field? How did he fulfill his job-related learning in his workplace? What were the context and the characteristic of the job-related learning in the workplace? And some implications of the job-related learning on engineering education were discussed. We identified that the research participant's career as a mechanical engineer has developed through three stages. At first, he engaged on conceptual design of a semi-conductor test machine through self-initiated learning from basic to whole system of the machine. At second stage, he leaded a design group for the concrete design of a ball type semi-conductor test machine. In this stage he learned the meaning of cooperation and cooperative learning. At third stage, he initiated to found an entrepreneur company that was specified to design a semi-conductor test machine. He became CEO of the company. He learned the R & D policy making through contacts with global company, visiting exhibition in abroad. Eventually his main task as a mechanical engineer was the problem solving in the process of machine design. He had experienced and learned through his works : project management, independent fulfilling of tasks, functional analysis and reverse engineering, conceptualizing and test, cohesive cooperation, dialogue and discussion, mediation of conflict, human relationship, leadership. The implication of the narrative analysis on engineering education is, proposed, to give the students more chances to experience and to learn such activities.

Key Factors of Talented Scientists' Growth and ExpeI1ise Development (과학인재의 성장 및 전문성 발달과정에서의 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to explore key factors of expertise development of talented scientists who achieved outstanding research performance according to the stages of expertise development and dimensions of individual-domain-field. To fulfill the research purpose, 31 domestic scientists who were awarded major prizes in the field of science were interviewed in-depth from March to September, 2007. Stages of expertise development were analyzed in light of Csikszentmihalyi's IDFI (individual-domain-field interaction) model. Self-directed learning, multiple interests and finding strength, academic and liberal home environment, and meaningful encounter were major factors affecting expertise development in the exploration stage. In the beginner stage, independence, basic knowledge on major, and thirst for knowledge at university affected expertise development. Task commitment, finding flow, finding their field of interest and lifelong research topic, and mentor in formal education were the affecting factors in the competent stage. Finally, placing priority, communication skills, pioneering new domain, expansion of the domain, and evaluation and support system affected talented scientists' expertise development in the leading stage. The meaning of major patterns of expertise development were analyzed and described. Based on these analyses, educational implications for nurturing scientists were suggested.

Case Study of Service-Learning Linked to 'History of Science' Lecture for Pre-service Science Teachers (예비과학교사의 과학사 강좌 봉사-학습(Service-Learning) 운영 사례 연구)

  • Service-Learning (S-L) is an experiential learning-based teaching-learning method that connects students with curriculum and school-based community service and raises students' academic ability and social responsibility awareness through the value of 'reflection' and 'reciprocity'. This study analyzed the case of S-L course of 'History of Science and Inquire Activity' for pre-service science teachers (PSTs). The S-L lectures linked to the subjects of the History of Science were conducted in terms of three stages (Preparation-Implementation-Evaluation), and S-L classes were conducted in three schools five times. The educational effects of S-L lectures were analyzed by collecting questionnaires, class observation and self-reported reflection diary. The PSTs were able to understand the school realities and improve the teaching abilities and pedagogic content knowledge through educational service activities. The PSTs who participated in the S-L course had hard time due to excessive learning time, the difficulty of preparing the class, the fear of the class, and trial and error. Nonetheless, most of the students responded that they were very satisfied (4.68) with the S-L lecture, and that they could develop self-efficacy for their future teaching career thank to this learning experience.

Effects of Advertising Strategies in Corporate YouTube Channels on Consumer Responses: Focusing on Vlogs (기업의 유튜브 채널에서 활용된 광고 전략이 소비자 반응에 미치는 영향: 브이로그(Vlog)를 중심으로)

  • This study attends to the phenomenon of major domestic corporations advertising their respective brands on official YouTube channels, reflecting the increasing importance of YouTube as a medium for marketing communication. One hundred vlogs of corporations with an official YouTube channel were content analyzed and their banded content attributes, advertising model's characteristics, advertising appeals, creative strategy, and consumer responses were investigated. Results show that the vlogs of employees were generally formulated with information on their colleagues' tasks and interviews. Findings also demonstrate that the characteristics of the model featured in vlogs had the most significant effects on consumer responses. Amongst the creative strategies, the user image had positive effects. However, branded content characteristics and advertising appeal types were found to have relatively weak effects. This research offers a theoretical understanding of the factors that influence consumer responses to the new type of advertising, corporate vlogs, in terms of branded content characteristics and advertising strategies. From a strategic point, it is anticipated that the reinforcement of user image and the utilization of an attractive model will produce positive responses from consumers.

Study on the Realization of Tourism Culture Welfare by Using Confucius Heritage - Based on Confucian Buildings - (유교유산을 활용한 관광문화복지 구현에 대한 연구 - 유교건물을 중심으로 -)

  • The present study investigates the realization of tourism culture welfare by using Confucian heritage. From June 13 to November 7, 2014, site surveys and interviews were conducted for hyanggo (hyanggo: Confucian temple and school to teach students in Joseon Dynasty period), seowon (seowon: a memorial hall for Confucianist services to honor distinguished scholars and statesmen) and nujung (nujung: outdoor pavilion or gazebo) located in Youngwol -gun. Questionnaire pertaining to site survey and in-depth interviews for the building owners and managers was used to collect necessary data and scientific investigation was performed for analysis. As a result, the historical background was found to be culturally valuable asset for both region's tourism and culture welfare. Secondly, hyanggyo and seowon were found to exhibit traditional Confucius cultural form, while nujung exhibited a rare architectural trait. Hence it seems necessary to develop a different social tourism resource specialized for nujung. Thirdly, the rendering of Confucius heritages to tourism culture welfare resources thus far seems to be insufficient; hence, development and operation of marketing programs will be necessary. The implications of the present study require succession and modern reinterpretation of Confucian heritages for further development into digital tourism that will encompass Confucian culture and today's culture. Furthermore, studies of the tourism culture welfare policies that will promote the co-existence with the region will be needed.

Analysis of Science-Class Research into Socio-Scientific Issues (과학관련 사회적 쟁점 기반 과학 수업 연구의 특징 분석)

  • In this study, we used an analysis of the literature on socio-scientific issues (SSI) classes to examine domestic SSI class research and to determine the characteristics of SSI class research for each subject. A search for papers related to SSI classes published in Korea Citation Index-listed journals and candidate journals of the Korea Research Foundation found 95 relevant papers, which were then categorized according to participants and topics. Studies with both pre-service and experienced teachers attempted to investigate SSI-related perceptions. Studies of pre-service teachers tended to examine the level and development pattern of argumentation or to analyze decision-making characteristics and informal reasoning. Studies of experienced teachers tended to analyze instructional expertise in SSI teaching activities, focusing on teachers with substantial SSI teaching experience. Middle and high school students-related studies examined student decision-making and reasoning processes in SSI learning activities, developed SSI class programs, and analyzed educational effects. Examining the characteristics of SSI classes for elementary school students was difficult because few such studies have been published. However, the characteristics that elementary school students show in SSI learning situations could be inferred. A plan to revitalize SSI classes in the elementary science education field from the perspective of teacher education and class research is suggested.

  • In this paper I will investigate the problems of the Ego of Kant, Husserl and $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$ from the standpoint of $trisvabh{\bar{a}}va$ and the transformation of the basis of $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$. Kant's Copernican revolution and Husserl's Phenomenological reduction are the keys to understanding their philosophies. We especially want to look into the comparison between the Ego of Kant, Husserl and $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$. According to Kant, we need the transcendental Ego as absolute in order to unite consciousness. Kant criticizes traditional metaphysics which had argued that the metaphysicians regard the transcendental Ego as substance. If they regard the transcendental Ego as an empirical object, this attempt will be in vain, because they seek to know unknown things. Husserl's phenomenological reduction is properly understood as a method designed to transform a philosopher into a phenomenologist by virtue of the attainment of a certain perspective on the world phenomenon. We will find the field of the transcendental, absolute ego through phenomenological reduction. Transcendental, absolute ego constitutes our whole world and gives meaning to the world. $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$ argues that what our ordinary consciousness (the sixth consciousness) regards subjectivity and objectivity as separate, or that self and the world is an imagination that $alaya-vij{\tilde{n}}ana$, the mind more profound than the ordinary consciousness, created. $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra^{\prime}s$ $alaya-vij{\tilde{n}}ana$ creates the whole objects and the consciousness (the sixth), so we must regard them as illusionary. $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$ insists that there are three natures of mind and we attain the transformation of the basis in mind. Based on this point of view, Kant, Husserl and $Yog{\bar{a}}c{\bar{a}}ra$ want to transcend and overcome the limits of the ordinary consciousness, and then they want to find the absolute truth (everything) and want to be a men of freedom.

Jamu (The Dance Forming Letters, 字舞) -focused on Seongsumu and Youngseongsomu- (자무(字舞) -성수무·영성소무를 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to historically and academically shed new light on Jamu(字舞) to which there is little reference now on the basis of reference of neighboring country (China), to discover traditional unique contents by considering constituting principles, and to use these data to inherit and develop Jamu as a stage performance which is suited for the present age. The result of this study shows as follows. The first, Seongsumu was made up of the dances making 16 letters-"Seongchocheongo(聖超千古), Dotaebaekwang(道泰百王), Hwangjemannyoun(皇帝萬年), Bojomichang" - by 140 dancers. Made letters were intended to face audiences and this is similar to group gymnastics of today in the aspect and form stakes. The second, it is thought that Youngseongsomu the dance making Cheonhataepyeong(天下太平) and recorded in "Youngseongsomubo" of China is related to 'Wangmodaegamu(王母隊歌舞)' the dance making Cheonhataepyeong(天下太平) during the Moonjing rule and recorded a little in The History of Goryeo, 25 volumes (高麗史 卷25). With this study as a momentum, continuous study is needed on Korean traditional dance inherited barely today in order to develop new various contents of Korean traditional arts which are being forgotten by studying and researching related references in neighboring countries such as China and Japan.

A Study on Sijo Theory of Jasan An Whak (자산 안확의 시조론 연구)

  • Jasan An Whak did research on the essence of Sijo to show that Sijo has some features as a literature. I tried to show the formation process of Sijo theory in 1930s through Jasan's Sijo theory. As a preparatory step for it, I introduced Jasan's Sijo theory released in early 1930s and examined the characteristic aspects of it. Jasan recognized a literature as a directing post that reveals the history of our national spirit. He thought a literature as a foundation for satisfying new age. Also, he recognized the essence of a literature as a emotional expression. He emphasized that a new literature in Joseon age should have not only particularity of Joseon literature but also universality of modern literature. Jasan studied style of Sijo. Because he was at the time of modernization, he used the term, 'style', instead of 'poongkyeok', which had used before modern time. He tried to show linguistic artistry of Sijo through the series of his works about the style of Sijo. Jasan tried to find formal beauty of Sijo in the aspect of rhythm instead of rhyme. And he claimed that poetic words can be lengthened or shortened to be harmonious with the melody of Sijo. In other words, it is possible to change the words of Sijo for harmonizing with a tune. Jasan recognized that the words of Sijo have a musical function as well as a semantic function.

A Study on Coherence in the Structure of IB DP Mathematics Curriculum Documents (IB DP 수학과 교육과정 문서 체재의 일관성 분석 연구)

  • This study aims to drive the implications for the structure of mathematics curriculum documents in Korea, exploring the coherence in the documental structure of the IB DP mathematics curriculum, which is gaining international attention. The documents of the IB DP mathematics curriculum were analyzed based on the coherence of external and internal structures. First, the curriculum was consistently described by subject and topic, presenting the table of contents and structure of the documents in the same format. Second, the descriptions of the curriculum between subjects and within the subjects were consistent through the same composition of the subject and assessment methods, the presentation of big ideas, and 'Guidance, clarification and syllabus links'. Third, in 'Connections', the curriculum documents were described with coherence through linking with other subjects by describing the connection plan with the real-world contexts, other subjects, and the 'Theory of Knowledge' in the IB curriculum. Based on these findings and implications for the concreteness and consistency of the components in mathematics curriculum documents, we propose the coherence between the presentation of subject areas and assessment methods of the revised curriculum, and the implementation of coherence in documental structure through links with other subjects.
