Analysis of National Vertical Datum Connection Using Tidal Bench Mark (기본수준점을 이용한 국가수직기준연계 분석 연구)

  • Recently, the velocity of sea-level rising has increased due to the global warming and the natural disasters have been occurred many times. Therefore, there are various demands for the integration of vertical reference datums for the ocean and land areas in order to develop a coastal area and prevent a natural disaster. Currently, the vertical datum for the ocean area refers to Local Mean Sea Level(LMSL) and the vertical datum for the land area is based on Incheon Mean Sea Level(IMSL). This study uses 31 points of Tidal Gauge Bench Mark (TGBM) in order to compares and analyzes the geometric heights referring LMSL, IMSL, and the nationally determined geoid surface. 11 points of comparable data are biased more than 10 cm when the geometric heights are compared. It seems to be caused by the inflow of river, the relocation of Tidal Gauge Station, and the topographic change by harbor construction. Also, this study analyze the inclination of sea surface which is the difference between IMSL and LMSL, and it shows the inclination of sea surface increases from the western to southern, and eastern seas. In this study, it is shown that TGBM can be used to integrate vertical datums for the ocean and land areas. In order to integrate the vertical datums, there need more surveying data connecting the ocean to the land area, also cooperation between Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration and National Geographic Information Institute. It is expected that the integrated vertical datum can be applied to the development of coastal area and the preventative of natural disaster.

  • Design with crashworthiness concept has been emphasized for almost aircraft and motor vehicles. However, crashes accompanied serious injury and death have been continuously occurred, and will be occurred subsequently. What was worse, it is a well-known fact that there were a good many crashes classified as survivable accidents in which fatal injuries were reported. But we cannot say that fatal injuries were inevitable consequences of those crashes. If crashworthy design for seat, restraint systems, and cabin strength were adequate or right, survivability in a crash event could be maximized greatly. To substantiate the right crashworthiness, we must thoroughly understand the characteristics of human tolerance under abrupt acceleration change, and the cabin design should be combined with proper use of energy absorbing technologies that reduce accelerations experienced by the occupants. In this paper, the emphasis on the human tolerance under abrupt accelerations as well as the necessity of change in design requirements for crash environment will be stressed to widen the belt of consensus for the right crashworthy design.

Three dimensional finite element method for stress distribution on the length and diameter of orthodontic miniscrew and cortical bone thickness (교정용 미니스크류 식립 시 스크류의 길이, 직경 및 피질골 두께에 따른 응력 분포에 관한 3차원 유한요소법적 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the stress distribution on the length and diameter of the miniscrew and cortical bone width. Three dimensional finite element models were made of diameter 1.2mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm and length 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 10.0mm, 12.0mm and cortical bone width 1.0mm. Also, another three dimensional finite element models were made of diameter 1.2mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm and length 8.0mm and cortical bone width 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm. Two-hundred grams horizontal force were applied on the center of the miniscrew head and at that stress distribution and its magnitude had been analyzed by ANSYS, which is three dimensional finite element analysis program. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The comparison of the maximum von-Mises stress in the miniscrew showed that as the diameter increases from 1.2mm to 2.0mm stress has been decreased, while on the same diameter stress was not changed regardless of the length change. 2. The comparison of the maximum von-Mises stress in the cortical and cancellous bone showed that as the diameter increases from 1.2mm to 2.0mm stress has been decreased, while on the same diameter stress was not changed regardless of the length change. 3. In the analysis of the stress distribution in the cortical and cancellous bone, the most of the stress had been absorbed in the cortical bone, and did not transmitted much to the cancellous bone. 4. In the analysis of the maximum von-Mises stress according to the cortical bone width, the same diameter of the miniscrew showed a constant stress value regardless of the cortical bone width change. The above results suggest that the maintenance of the miniscrew is more reliable on diameter than length of the miniscrew.

Synoptic Characteristics of Temperature Change of the Warm and Cold periods appeared at Late Autumn of Seoul (서울의 늦가을에 나타나는 온난기와 한랭기 기온변화의 종관 특성)

  • This study aims to identify the warm and cold periods(WP, CP) of November appeared in the daily normals of daily minimum temperature of Seoul for 1941~1970 and 1971~2000 and to investigate synoptic characteristics of the temperature changes of WP and CP. The WP temperatures are increased clearly(p value 0.000), the CP temperatures are also warming but not significant statistically. In WP, there are not apparent trends corresponding the warming of WP temperature, in the Siberian High, Sea Level Pressure(SLP), 925hPa surface wind(U925, V925) around the Korean peninsula. In high period(1972~1979) of WP temperature, there are positive SLP anomaly and anomalous anticyclonic circulation pattern of 925hPa wind field over the Korean peninsula then the winter monsoon is weakened and the WP temperature is ascending. In CP, the Siberian high are weakening, the Hokkaido eastern low are strengthening and the westerlies(U925) over the Korean Peninsula are enlarging. So CP temperature are suppressed in rising trend or shows weak descent.

  • 말라리아는 매개체에 의한 전염병으로써 국내에서는 이미 1970년대에 사라진 것으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 1990년대에 재발생하여 2000년대 초반까지 경기도와 강원도 북부지역에서 환자가 증가하는 양상을 보였다. 사람에게서 발병하는 말라리아는 4종으로 알려져 있으나 우리나라의 경우 이 중 오로지 삼일열 원충감염에 의한 것으로 밝혀졌다(질병관리 본부, 2010). 기후변화는 질병의 발생에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 중요한 요인 중 하나로써 매개체에 의한 질병의 경우 기후요소는 매개체의 번식과 활동에 적지않은 영향을 미친다. 특히 말라리아의 경우 병원균을 가진 개체수와 모기에 물리는 횟수, 감염된 모기의 수, 그 모기에 사람이 물리는 횟수와 관계가 있으나 기온과 강수량, 습도의 변화 등 기후 및 수문학적 요소와도 밀접한 관계를 가지는 것으로 밝혀졌다(Lindsay & Birley, 1996; 박윤형 외, 2006; 신호성, 2011 재인용). 본 연구의 목적은 한반도 기후-수문학적 환경특성 및 변화를 파악하고 지역적 말라리아 발생과의 상관관계를 도출하며 이를 기반으로 하여 말라리아 발생의 변동을 예측하는 것이다. 분석에 사용된 데이터는 말라리아 발생자료의 경우, 질병관리 본부에서 제공하는 2001년 1월~2011년 12월 까지의 약 16000건의 발병자료가 포함 되었고 분석의 시간 단위는 2WEEKS 이며 전국 251개의 시군구에서 발생한 전염병을 합산하였다. 기상자료의 경우 기상청 기후자료 관리 시스템에서 제공하는 동일 기간대의 평균기온, 최고(최저)기온, 강수량, 신적설, 평균 해면기압, 평균 이슬점 온도, 평균 상대습도, 평균풍속, 평균운량, 일조시간 자료를 활용하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 AWS(Automatic Weather Station)자료의 경우 기본적으로 point 형태의 관측자료이고, 분석기간 동안의 개수에서도 차이가 있기 때문에 공간 내삽기법인 kriging을 활용하여 행정구역과 zonal하는 방법으로 재가공 하였다. 지역의 수문학적 특성의 경우 10*10 DEM을 기반으로 ESRI ArcGIS 소프트웨어의 ArcHydro 기능을 이용 하여 유역을 생성하는 방법을 채택하였다. 본 연구에서는 통계적 모형을 기본으로 기후 및 수문 특성과 말라리아 발생간의 상관관계를 분석하였으며 시계열 자료의 특성상 포아송 분포의 Generalized Estimation Equation 과 Generalized Linear Model을 이용한다(Baccini 외, 2008; 신호성, 2011). 또한 말라리아 잠복시간의 지연효과 및 전염병의 계절 영향을 반영하기 위하여 Fourier transform 을 적용 하였다.

  • The change of water level at Mokpo Harbour and its adjacent coastal area due to the construction of the Youngsan Estuary Barrage and the Third Land Reclamation Work of estuary barren had been roughly expected. Periodical floods, which occur 2 times per month, are also being observed at the low lying commercial areas near the Mokpo Old Harbor. Although it is said that the highest tidal current component among the tidal current records at the approaching channel to Mokpo Harbor is reduced to 6 kts, because of the esturary barrage, they do not give any precise statement or a deep analysis for the flooding and periodical water level change under certain environmental conditions. Moreover, they never tried the analysis of development plan considering the natural disaster such as typhoon or other extreme conditions. Thus, it is necessary to collect and analyze the data related to floodings, harbor oscillations, currents, and water quality , etc. because of the development considering the extreme condition. This study deals the problem of the water level change among the integrated analyses of the coastal area changes. Study on the Humidity Effect on Gas turbine Engine Performances (습도가 엔진성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 고찰)

  • The moisture in the atmosphere exerts a lot of influence upon Gas turbine engine performances. There is a noticeable influence of wet air at the summer sea level, high flight mach number and low engine rpm increasingly. An altitude Engine Test Facility is used to accomplish the engine performance tests at dry air condition and wet air condition, through which engine performance results is revealed. Also, Gas turbine Simulation Program is used to predict the variation of engine performance due to inlet humidity. In the result, net thrust and specific fuel consumption measured -2.826% and 1.325%, respectively at wet air condition compared to dry air condition.

Computation of Free Surface Displacement for Water Waves by Asymptotic Approximations (점근 근사법에 의한 파랑변위 계산)

  • Time evolution of linear water waves on a constant depth generated by a disturbance is analyzed by asymptotic methods; stationary phase, steepest descents and leading wave approximation. In order to verify the derived formulae of surface displacements for 1-D and 2-D waves. surface displacements are calculated and plotted from both the formulae and a numerical integration. The existing results for surface displacements are verified in which the leading amplitude of 1-D waves during the evolution decays as f- T/B, the rest of the wavetrain as t$^{-1}$ 2/ and the rest of the wavetrain of 2-D waves as t-1. But it is shown that the leading amplitude of 2-D waves decays as t 5/6 which is different from Kajiura's result t$^{-4}$ 3/.

  • The application of a two-dimensional $M_2$ nonlinear tidal model to southern part of Kyonggi Bay is described. It has provided a preliminary assessment of tidal currents, bottom stress, energy dissipation in the Bay. Further numerical experiments have been performed with the model to determine the effect of deepening the approach channel to Asan Bay on the $M_2$ tide and on the response of Bay system to a stationary northwesterly wind stress field of $10dyne/cm^2$ suddenly imposed on thesea surface. Some of preliminary results are presented and discussed.

ON THE GENERATION OF TEMPERATURE INVERSIONS IN THE UPPER LAYER OF THE OCEAN (해양 표층 수온 역전의 원인)

  • Oceanic temperature inversions, with unstable stratifications, are frequently founed in the surface layer of a few tens meters in the Japan Sea and the Yellow Sea in Winter. Mechanisms responsible for the generation of temperature inversions include the followings: (1) The nat heat loss at the sea suface requires an upward transport of heat from the interior of the ocean y convection, and this convection leads to the temperature inversions. (2) The downward propagation of the annual variation of the sea surface timperature, with an exponential decrease of amplitude and a linear change of phase with depth, generates the surface inversion layer in winter. (3) The cold water cdvection by Ekman drift, of which magnitude decreases exponentially with depth, generates temperature inversions for the three possible mechanisms mentioned above.
