Effects of Nursing Student's Academic Failure Tolerance and Academic Self-efficacy on Academic Achievement (간호대학생의 학업실패내성과 학업적 자기효능감이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the relationship of academic failure tolerance, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement of nursing students. The data was obtained from August 27 to September 17. The participants were 198 students in a university in D city. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. A positive correlation was observed between all the variables. The factor that significantly affected academic achievement was academic self-efficacy, which explained 7.5% of the variances. The subdomain of the academic failure tolerance affecting academic achievement was found to be the behavior, which explained 8.0% of variances. The subdomains of academic self-efficacy affecting the academic achievement was the self-regulatory efficacy. This factor explained 15.4% of the variances. This study suggests that it is necessary to enhance the academic failure tolerance and academic self-efficacy for the learning achievement and working performance of nursing students.

  • 본 연구는 팀기반학습을 활용한 교과목을 수강한 간호대학생 56명을 대상으로 동료평가와 학업성취도와의 관계에서 수업몰입의 매개효과를 검정하였다. 매개효과 분석은 PROCESS macro Program의 model 4를 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping)을 이용하여 검정하였다. 분석 결과는 첫째, 동료평가, 수업몰입과 학업성취도 간에 유의한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 수업몰입은 동료평가가 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 부분매개 하는 것으로 확인되었다. 동료평가가 간호대학생을 위한 TBL 과정에서 수업몰입과 팀워크를 촉진하고 궁극적으로 학업성취도를 향상시키는 효과적인 도구가 될 수 있음을 시사하며, 교수자가 학생의 학습성과를 개선할 수 있는 보다 효과적인 교육 전략 및 개입을 개발하는 데 도움이 될 수 있다.

The Effect of College Students' Extra Curricular Activities on Academic Achievement (대학생의 비교과 활동이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • Universities in Korea are presenting various extracurricular activities for survival and growth. Although the goals of extracurricular activities are diverse, one of the most important is to improve the academic achievement of college students. In this study, we looked at the relationship between the cumulative score of extracurricular activities by difficulty level and academic achievement. As a result, first, even if students' basic academic skills were controlled, extracurricular activities had a positive effect on student achievement. This suggests that universities should provide extracurricular activities that are more diverse and tailored to the needs of students. Second, the participation rate of female students in extracurricular activities is similar to that of male students, but the performance is very high. Third, Senior students show high levels of participation and performance. This means that it is necessary to actively increase the participation rate of female students and lower grade students. To this end, not only publicity and compensation, but also active interest and participation of instructors will be required.

Factors Influencing Nursing Students' Intention to Drop out (간호대학생의 중도탈락의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between social support, academic self-efficacy, and learning agility on intention of academic dropout among nursing students. Data collection was conducted online surveys from November 9 to 27, 2020. The 363 students were conveniently sampled from the school of nursing in K-do in Korea. The contents of the self-reported questionnaire included social support, academic self-efficacy, learning agility, intention of academic dropout. As a result, The score of each variables were like this: social support 4.32, academic self-efficacy 3.66, learning agility 3.40, intention of academic dropout 2.08. The factors that affecting intention of academic dropout among nursing students are academic self-efficacy, learning agility, satisfaction on major, perceived mental health status, grade in score and grade, which explained 30.4% of the variances. Therefore in order to lower the intention of dropping out of nursing students, it is considered that the development of programs considering individual characteristics and systematic support are necessary.

Relationship between Science Academic Passion, Positive Experience about Science and Scientific Creativity in Elementary Science-Gifted Students (초등 과학영재 학생의 과학 학업 열정 및 과학 긍정 경험과 과학적 창의성의 관계)

  • This study explored the relationship between science academic passion, positive experience about science and scientific creativity in elementary science-gifted students. To do this, 108 science-gifted students from grades 3 to 6 were selected. After conducting the tests on their science academic passion, positive experience about science and scientific creativity, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The results revealed that the students exhibited relatively high levels of science academic passion and positive experience about science, but their scientific creativity was not relatively high. While there was no statistically significant correlation between the overall science academic passion and scientific creativity, there was a significant negative correlation with scientific creativity in the aspect of 'obsessive passion' of the five subcategories ('importance', 'like', 'time/energy investment', 'harmonious passion', and 'obsessive passion'). Furthermore, the five subcategories, particularly 'like', 'harmonious passion', and 'obsessive passion' were statistically significant predictors of scientific creativity. However, the five subcategories of positive experience about science ('science academic emotion', 'science-related self-concept', 'science learning motivation', 'science-related career aspiration', and 'science-related attitude') did not exhibit statistically significant correlations with scientific creativity and did not had a significant influence on it. Additionally, neither the overall science academic passion nor the overall positive experience about science had a statistically significant effect on scientific creativity. Educational implications of these results were discussed.

Effect of Communication in the Online Lecture: Focused on the Answering Way (온라인 강의에서 의사통방식의 효과: 질문에 대한 답변제시 방식을 중심으로)

  • 본 연구는 온라인 대학 강의에서 수강생들의 강의관련 질문과 답변 내용을 주간 단위로 모아서 수강생들에게 추가로 공지하는 상호작용이 학업성과와 강의만족도에 어떠한 영향을 주는가를 파악하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 실험법 중 통제집단사후측정 비교설계 방식에 따라 진행하였다. 각 집단은 한 분반이 200명 단위로 분반되는 대형수강과목을 1개 선정하여 600명을 3개 분반에 무선할당 하여 각각 실험집단1, 실험집단2, 통제집단으로 하였다. 실험집단1에게는 이메일로 내용을 전달하고, 실험집단2에게는 과목공지게시판을 통해서 내용을 전달하며, 통제집단에게는 아무런 처치를 하지 않았다. 종속변수는 해당 과목에 대한 수강생들의 학업성적과 강의만족도이었다. 그 결과, 통제집단보다 실험집단1과 실험집단2에서 학업성적이 유의미하게 높게 나타났다. 그리고 실험집단 중에서는 1집단이 2집단보다 유의미하게 학업성적은 높았는데, 강의만족도는 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 이것은 강의관련 질문에 대해 교수자가 수강생들에게 적극적인 상호작용을 많이 하는 것이 긍정적인 효과를 낳을 수 있는데, 상호작용의 방식은 과목공지게시판보다는 학생에게 보다 편리한 이메일 전달방식이 더 효과적임을 실증적으로 보여주는 것이다.

Design of the Management System for Students at Risk of Dropout using Machine Learning (머신러닝을 이용한 학업중단 위기학생 관리시스템의 설계)

  • The proportion of students dropping out of universities is increasing year by year, and they are trying to identify risk factors and eliminate them in advance to prevent dropouts. However, there is a problem in the management of students at risk of dropping out and the forecast is inaccurate because crisis students are managed through the univariable analysis of specific risk factors. In this paper, we identify risk factors for university dropout and analyze multivariables through machine learning method to predict university dropout. In addition, we derive the optimization method by evaluation performance for various prediction methods and evaluate the correlation and contribution between risk factors that cause university dropout.

Relationship of Academic Stress, Ego-resilience and Health Promoting Behaviors in Nursing Students (일 대학 간호대학생의 학업스트레스, 자아탄력성과 건강증진행위와의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the levels of academic stress, ego-resilience, and health promoting behaviors of nursing students, and to examine the relationship between these variables. The participants were 208 nursing students(freshman/sophomore). Data were collected from April 3 to April 21, 2017 by self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 19.0 program(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The results of this study were as follows: the mean academic stress score was $3.17{\pm}0.55$, ego-resilience was $2.70{\pm}0.38$, and health promoting behaviors was $2.47{\pm}0.32$. There were significant differences in health promoting behaviors based on residence status, satisfaction with major, satisfaction with school life and health status. There was a negative correlation between health promoting behaviors and academic stress(r=-0.36, p=0.000), while there was a positive correlation between health promoting behaviors and ego-resilience(r=0.60, p=0.000). Variables such as ego-resilience, academic stress, satisfaction with school life, residence status, health status and satisfaction with major explained 43.3% of the variance in health promoting behaviors. Based on these results, it is necessaryto develop interventions and programs to reduce academic stress and increase ego-resilience to improve health promotion in nursing students.

A Study on the Influence between Self-leadership Strategies and Learning Performance at IT Classes mediated by Attitude of Attendance: focused on the Social Science Students in University (수강태도를 매개변인으로 한 셀프리더십전략이 IT과목 러닝성과에 미치는 영향: 사회과학분야 학습자중심)

  • Many organizations have had deep interests in studies concerning leadership and also in academic area, not only management but also psychology. Until now, the leadership has been accentuated to managers or team leaders especially. Recently, however, the concept of self-leadership that lead one's own activities toward right direction through self-control or self-management is being focused on practices and academia. This study is to investigate the influence between self-leadership strategies and learning performance at IT classes mediated by attitude of attendance focused on the social science students in an university. Research results can give us right direction of task-taking attitudes in firms or learning attitudes in teaching organization and implications to human resource manager who are in charge of improving learning performance or productivity.
