Categorization of Middle school students' Math Learning Style Preferences and Comparison of Academic Characteristics (중학생의 수학학습양식 선호유형의 범주화와 학습 특성 비교)

  • The purpose of the research is to categorize math learners into pattern through those tools that distinguish math learning style for middle school students. On the ground of survey for 976 middle school students, the fact that there are 16 different math learning style at the result of cluster analysis is confirmed and the results are compared and analyzed previous research. Also according to the each constituent of math learning style, dissimilarity of distribution about learner of different sexes and grades are analyzed. It's helpful to understanding the whole characteristics of learners regarding math learning to figure out their cognitive and affective learning styles through the tools to distinguish their math learning styles.

  • 본 연구에서는 날로 관심이 커지고 있는 ICT교육에서 한축을 담당하고 있는 ICT소양교육의 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 학습자 요인이 무엇인지 확인하고자 하였다. 선행연구에 기초하여 ICT소양교육의 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 잠정적인 변인을 인지적 영역(메타인지, 창의성, 선수학습), 정의적 영역(자아개념, 성취동기, 컴퓨터에 대한 태도) 6가지로 선정하였다. 도출된 변인을 바탕으로 ICT소양교육의 학업성취도를 예측하는 요인이 무엇인지 분석하였다.

The Effects of the Recognition of Collaborative Classes between Native English Speakers and Korean English Teachers on the Definition Factors of the Learner (원어민과 한국인 영어교사의 협동수업에 대한 인식이 학습자의 정의적 요인에 미치는 영향)

  • This study sought to find out what the most ideal and appropriate native English speakers-Korean English teacher cooperative class model and the defining factors for organizing effective cooperative classes in the English education environment of our country. To achieve this goal, a total of 165 sixth graders of five elementary schools in Seoul were subject to the study. For about a month from April 1 to April 30, 2019, the survey and statistical analysis were conducted, including multiple return analysis, correlation analysis, cross analysis, and t/F verification. In summary, the results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that among the recognition of cooperative classes between native English speakers and Korean English teachers, it affected the defining factors in the order of class-related skills, task orientation, teaching-learning strategies, and motivation. Second, based on learner characteristics, the difference in perception of cooperative classes between native English speakers and Korean English teachers was verified, and the perception of native-Korean English teachers' cooperative classes was different depending on gender and the type of English cooperative classes currently participating, but the recognition of native-Korean English-Korean English cooperative classes, which were statistically significant, was not confirmed. Third, according to learner characteristics, the difference in the definition factors of the learner was verified and the difference between the sexes occurred, but the learner-defined factors according to the current type of English cooperative class did not occur. Also, there was no difference in the definition factors of scholars according to the type of English cooperative classes desired.

The Effects of a Robot Based Programming Learning on Learners' Creative Problem Solving Potential (로봇 활용 프로그래밍 학습이 창의적 문제해결성향에 미치는 영향)

  • Using the tangible programming tools, which combines physical objects (e.g. robot) and educational programming language, may help to encourage learners' creative thinking as well as to enhance problem solving ability. That is, learners can have opportunities to simulate problem solving processes through the physical objects, such as robots. Therefore, they can minimize an fixation about problem solving process. These experience is effective to induce creative thinking that is useful to find new solutions and change environment actively. Therefore, we developed a robot based programming teaching and learning curriculum and implemented it in college level introductory programming courses. The result shows that the robot based programming learning has a positive effect in all three factors of learners' creative problem solving potential, especially in a cognitive factor. The cognitive factor includes general problem solving abilities as well as factors that explain creativity, such as divergent thinking, problem recognition, problem representation. These result means that the developed robot based programming teaching and learning curriculum give positive effect to creative problem solving abilities.

  • 2015 개정 교육과정에 따라 초등학교 및 중학교에 프로그래밍 교육이 필수로 도입된다. 그러나 과거 5차 교육과정에도 프로그래밍 교육이 도입되었지만 지속되지 못했다. 프로그래밍 교육이 지속 가능하기 위해서는 다양한 요인을 고려하여 프로그래밍 학습 환경을 설계해야한다. 특히 학생들의 흥미, 관심, 그리고 긍정적인 태도등의 정의적 요인을 고려하여 교수학습 방법을 적용하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구는 학생들에게 프로그래밍 교육을 어떻게 가르치는 것이 정의적 영역에 긍정적인 영향을 주는지 다양한 프로그래밍 교육 연구를 메타 분석하여 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 학습자들이 프로그래밍 교육을 통해 얻은 정의적 영역의 교육 효과를 교수학습 방법별로 메타 분석하였다. 프로그래밍 교육과 관련하여 수집한 연구 논문은 메타 분석 방법에 따라 단계별로 연구 자료를 추출하고 선정하는 절차를 통해 분석하였다.

Analysis of Affective Factors in Mathematics Learning of Elementary School Students (초등학생의 수학 학습에 대한 정의(情意)적 특성 분석)

  • In order to understand the characteristics of affect of elementary school students in this study, we used a questionnaire developed by Hannula (2012) to measure elementary students' beliefs and affective factors about mathematics based on the emotional, cognitive, and motivational dimensions of the affect of personal level. Statistical analysis and one-way ANOVA were conducted to identify the characteristics of elementary school students' beliefs and affective factors about mathematics according to mathematics achievement level, grade level, and gender. Regression analysis was performed to analyze the correlation between the factors. The results of this study are compared with the results of the previous study which used comparative study of elementary school students in Finland and Chile using the questionnaire used in this study.

  • High achievement in mathematics is a very complex process in which various factors such as cognitive factors, affective factors, and social and environmental factors work respectively and complementary. A number of previous studies conducted so far have shown that there are certain factors affecting math learning and these factors have positive or negative effects on it. However, these studies were conducted with limited variables and it was not possible to present a comprehensive analysis of what would be necessary to get good achievements in mathematics learning. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the process of experience of students who experienced success in mathematics learning using the analysis method of the grounded theory. In addition, the collected data was analyzed to explain the process of leading to the successful experience in mathematics learning. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that students form their identity as successful learners through the processes of 'new phase stage', 'experience accumulation stage', 'stand-up stage', and 'maintenance effort stage'. Through this study, we were able to get implications for what actions are needed to experience success in math learning by looking at the process of the experience what interviewees have gone through.

A Study on the Perceptions of Cyber English Learners on the Usefulness of Online Grammar Checker (온라인 문법 검사기의 유용성에 대한 사이버 영어학습자들의 인식에 관한 연구)

  • The current study examined the cyber learners' perceptions of the educational usefulness of Grammarly, an online grammar checker, after it was used to provide feedback to cyber university students in a situation where the instructor could not provide sufficient feedback on their written work in English. The survey results, revealed that the majority of learners had positive attitudes to the usefulness of Grammarly. In particular, the feedback immediately available whenever needed was regarded as helpful in improving English sentences, and most learners were highly satisfied with the amount of the feedback provided by Grammarly. It was also found that Grammarly had positive effects in terms of the affective domains, helping learners to improve their interest and confidence in English writing. In particular, Grammarly was found to be effective in reducing writing anxiety in English, one of the main factors negatively affecting writing performance in English. However, along with these positive results, limitations such as inaccurate feedback and inadequate explanation of errors were also found. Therefore, when Grammarly is used for English education, it is necessary to conduct multifaceted research to develop effective teaching methods that can minimize the problems that may arise from these limitations.

A Study of the Key Factors and Expected Outcomes of Convergence Education using a Delphi Technique (융합교육 핵심요인과 기대효과에 대한 델파이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of convergence education through the Delphi survey targeting 19 teaching professionals. The Delphi survey was completed three times, drawing key factors and expected outcomes which explain the characteristics of convergence education. The key factors of convergence education were classified as 'educational design', 'teachers' expertise' and 'educational environment'. Educational design focused on the qualitative characteristics of leaner's experience. Teachers' expertise was teacher's active and supportive roles in relationship with fellow teachers and learners. Educational environment was the psychological factors with which various subjects can realize convergence education. The expected outcomes were classified as 'learner's cognitive characteristics', 'leaner's affective characteristics', and 'teacher and educational system'. The expected outcomes of convergence education leads to psychological changes for learners to increase the advanced learning experiences and to pursue values of education itself. Compared to similar concepts, convergence education has some unique characteristics in which many of regular learners in educational settings and various topics are targeted. It also focuses on psychological factors of various subjects and qualitative natures of leaners' learning experience for the advanced learning. Especially, these results have significance in understanding the nature of convergence education, focusing on educational practices through teachers'perspectives.
