  • The purpose of this study was to analyze trends of domestic research on MOOCs(Massive Open Online Courses) for the last 10 years and provides implications for research on education and learning using MOOC. A total of 70 research papers were selected for the analysis. As a result, the research papers on MOOC in Korea have been increasing from 2012 to 2018. Of the 70 research papers, 31 were clearly indicated research subjects, and most of the research was conducted for university students. Regarding the research type, survey research(27.1%) were the most common. The predictors used in the study of MOOCs are demographic characteristics and perceived usefulness and ease of use for independent variables, satisfaction, perceived usefulness and ease of use for the mediators, usage intention and persistence for dependent variables were frequently used. Further implications were discussed for the study.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the relationships of parents' satisfaction towards their children's school education and the demographic variables associated with decision-making on post high school academic completion of parents of the students with disabilities. The Korean Education Longitudinal Study data, which contained the responses of 162 parents of high school students with mild disabilities who enrolled in regular high schools, was used for the study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, ordinal logistic regression analysis, and chi-square test were used. As a result, provision of college entrance related information/consultation, improvement of academic performance level, collaboration/ communication between the teachers and parents, and overall school education were significantly related to parents' decision-making on their children's post high school academic completion. Also, mothers' educational level showed significant difference in parents' decision-making on their children's post high school academic completion.

  • Recently, due to Industry 4.0, there is a great interest in smart factory for productivity improvement and customer satisfaction in manufacturing industry, and construction is also actively pursued by government support. In particular, data integration and fieldbus communication technology to build an efficient production system are essential. Fieldbus is an open control system that is not tied to a specific vendor system and has various advantages such as compatibility with other products, accuracy of data transmission, and remote diagnosis. However, there are no educational equipment for training field buses, training courses and examples for practical training, and there are many limitations in improving the practical skills needed for building smart factories in the industrial field. Therefore, this study develops PLC based fieldbus education equipment and training course based on previous research results that selected PLC and communication technology suitable for domestic industry field for practical fieldbus training and develops the training program of Ethernet IP, Profibus DP, Modbus, CC-Link, and DeviceNet. In addition, it is confirmed that the control and remote diagnosis of distributed field devices are possible by data collection and monitoring.

  • With the curriculum revision in 2015, informatics for secondary high schools was designated as mandatory. As a result, there is an increasing interest in programming in elementary and junior high schools as well as in universities. Arduino is one of the famous tools for programming education, and the usefulness of it has been proven through various case studies. However, existing Arduino-based kits have hardware-dependent drawbacks such as complicated wiring, poor scalability, etc. To overcome these problems, we proposed a kit design, which has a module-based structure, can be extended through one common interface, and can be used for learning at various levels. In this paper, we describe the implementation details of FRUTO kit and a software to use it, which satisfies the proposed design criteria. FRUTO kit has been determined in its current form through several design changes, and is under pre-test before launching.

  • As Korea enters an aging age, social efforts to improve the IADL of the elderly are increasing. In this study, to improve the performance of financial management activities that the elderly is particularly burdened, we aim to learn the elderly through ATM simulation education contents so that they can use ATM smoothly. To this end, interviews were conducted with seniors to derive four major financial activities (deposits, withdrawals, deposit inquiries and bank account arrangements), and developed tablet PC-based ATM education contents identical to the existing bank ATM interfaces. The experiment was conducted on 20 elderly people in the Elderly Day Care Center, and their satisfaction, fatigue and performance were measured before and after education. The results of this study can provide ATM design guidelines for the elderly who have difficulty using ATM.

  • In this study, 186 remote graduate students from J University were surveyed and interviewed in-depth to see if their satisfaction varies depending on their gender, semester, and major, and the results were as follows. First, the gender satisfaction of remote graduate students was shown to be statistical significance differences between men and women in professors, offline activities, and class evaluations, all of which showed that men were significantly higher than women. Second, the satisfaction level of each semester of remote graduate students was shown to be significantly different in curriculum, LMS, lecture content quality, and offline activities, and tended to increase as the school year went up. Third, the satisfaction level of remote graduate students by major was found to have significant differences in other factors except LMS and class contents, with the highest educational administration. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to improve elements absolutely necessary for student-centered education, such as curriculum of remote graduate schools, establishment of learning platform (LMS), and development and production of lecture contents.

  • This study aimed to understand and analyze the instructors' class satisfaction and the effectiveness of online general education classes perceived by instructors after inevitable COVID-19. A total of 54 instructors participated in the survey conducted at the end of the spring semester 2021 at C University located Gyeongsangnam-do. Findings revealed that instructors' satisfaction with their online classes was relatively low(2.80), and they negatively perceived their online classes. Also they show negative perception of the variable, interaction with learners(2.87). However, they show higher satisfaction with the next variables than the overall satisfaction; class management, online learning platform, and asynchronous online learning. Plus, a statistically significant result is that online learning platform have the biggest effect on the instructors' class satisfaction. Therefore, we need to know that instructors have to get familiar with the online learning platform and universities help them provide a variety of training sessions regarding online learning platforms. This study has limitations in that it was conducted only at one college and the limited number of variables was measured.

  • This study's purpose is to investigate the effects of reading movie scripts aloud in non-face-to-face general English courses on international students' English ability in the COVID-19 era. A general English class was delivered once a week for 15 weeks to 47 international students at a Seoul-based university. The animated movie Tangled and its script were used as learning materials. Biweekly, students had to watch video lectures using the university's learning management system(LMS) and read scripts aloud through Zoom. In the video lectures, the teacher went over specific vocabulary and interpreted the movie scripts in easy Korean. For the second activity through Zoom, international students read the movie script aloud individually and in groups. The post-test revealed significant improvements in both reading and writing, as compared to the pre-test. Through the study's survey, participants exhibited positive attitudes in affective domains(understanding, satisfaction, interest, and recommendation).

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and apply an online-based Arduino programming experience program. In this study, the program was developed and applied based on the contents presented in the ADDIE model and Lee's model. The results of this study were as follows. First, two types of educational program were developed for online use by students of the free semester system. Second, the program content included practical materials such as teaching websites and video lectures. Third, the developed program was applied a total of three times in the school environment and when the student did not attend school. Fourth, analysis of student satisfaction confirmed that the students were satisfied with the development program. The content of this study will serve as a reference for instructors who plan online-based hands-on activities in places where instructors are not readily available, such as islands or mountainous areas.

  • The exploration of the solar system is carried out through various payloads, and accordingly, many research results are emerging. We tried to apply deep-learning as a method of studying the bodies of solar system. Unlike Earth observation satellite data, the data of solar system differ greatly from celestial bodies to probes and to payloads of each probe. Therefore, it may be difficult to apply it to various data with the deep-learning model, but we expect that it will be able to reduce human errors or compensate for missing parts. We have implemented a model that detects craters on the lunar surface. A model was created using the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) image and the provided shapefile as input values, and applied to the lunar surface image. Although the result was not satisfactory, it will be applied to the image of the permanently shadow regions of the Moon, which is finally acquired by ShadowCam through image pre-processing and model modification. In addition, by attempting to apply it to Ceres and Mercury, which have similar the lunar surface, it is intended to suggest that deep-learning is another method for the study of the solar system.
