  • The purpose of this study is to research space recognition change of the high school students according to geographic information quantities, focused on Factors Influencing the Land Value. The region of case study was some places of Songtan Special Tourism Zone, which responding students were unfamiliar with. The results are as follows. First, through the results of analysing 'the highest valued standard land and choice reasons' in two ㄴregions of the old town and the new town, it is perceived that the relative factor of land is more important than the absolute factor as the factors influencing the land value of the highest valued standard land. Second, there are students' recognition differences in the choice reasons of the highest valued standard land of two regions which have different characteristics. Third, though in the same region, recognitions about factors influencing the land value change according to geographic information quantities, and as students' knowledge about geographic information increases, the choice rate of the highest valued standard land increases. Lastly, it is perceived that there is a facility which has a decisive effect on formating the land value of a certain region.

  • To survive in the highly competitive environment, a vocational education institution must offer its students an attractive system of competency based vocational education. A first-term freshman at university and college should also be allowed to adjust the course selection Early exposure within one or more fields of study creates a high level of enthusiasm which helps students maintain their motivation. It also helps students decide if course selection is right for career choice and they should be provided a large number of diverse occupational opportunities later In this paper, we discuss how to activate the vocational education. Also we developed vocational guidance program for course selection through the subject for vocational guidance and the learning map for learning plan. This program was assessed through the survey on opinions of freshman.

  • Given the importance of developing algebraic thinking from early grades, this study investigated an overall performance and main characteristics of algebraic thinking from a total of 197 third grade students. The national elementary mathematics curriculum in Korea does not emphasize directly essential elements of algebraic thinking but indicates indirectly some of them. This study compared our students' performance related to algebraic thinking with results of Blanton et al. (2015) which reported considerable progress of algebraic thinking by emphasizing it through a regular curriculum. The results of this study showed that Korean students solved many items correctly as compatible to Blanton et al. (2015). However, our students tended to use 'computational' strategies rather than 'structural' ones in the process of solving items related to equation. When it comes to making algebraic expressions, they tended to assign a particular value to the unknown quantity followed by the equal sign. This paper is expected to explore the algebraic thinking by elementary school students and to provide implications of how to promote students' algebraic thinking.

  • In this study, I set the 5th grade children mathematically gifted in elementary school to pose freely the creative and difficult mathematical problems by using their knowledges and experiences they have learned till now. I wanted to find out that the math brains in elementary school 5th grade could posed mathematical problems to a certain levels and by the various and divergent thinking activities. Analyzing the mathematical problems of the mathematically gifted 5th grade children posed, I found out the math brains in 5th grade can create various and refined problems mathematically and also they did effort to make the mathematically good problems for various regions in curriculum. As these results, I could conclude that they have had the various and divergent thinking activities in posing those problems. It is a large goal for the children to bring up the creativities by the learning mathematics in the 2009 refined elementary mathematics curriculum. I emphasize that it is very important to learn and teach the mathematical problem posing to rear the various and divergent thinking powers in the school mathematics.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the Preconception about the causes and consequences of climate change. Participants were 196 High school students who live in Seoul and Gyeong-gi Province. And data was collected through questionnaire to confirm preconception about the causes and consequences of Climate Change. After confirming with students preconceptions, 10 people randomly selected and Semi-structured interview were conducted. The findings is students did not know exactly about Ozone depletion, global warming, the greenhouse effect factors and causal relationships. And we can confirm that the student's preconception is affecting.

  • The choice of occupation has a great deal of influences on achievement of self-realization and living a good life in an individual's life. Especially, it is very significant for Elementary school students because they become to aware of career and develop. However, in the present, the career guidance is mainly concentrated in the solitary work, such as an aptitude test and printed materials. The perspective from the student, therefore, needs systematic and efficient system to accumulate activities and result of their various career guidance for individual career-related information. The system to improve elementary school student's career awareness based on e-portfolio has been developed. The developed system can effectively accumulate students' activities and result of their various career guidance and easily grasp their strengths and weaknesses of intelligence based on theory of multiple intelligences. Teacher also can easily grasp their student's talent through all sorts of graphs provided by the web site for career education.

  • This study aimed to analyse the effects of academic self-efficacy of beauty specialized high school students on learning flow and provide basic data needed for their learning instruction. For the purpose, this study surveyed 327 students of beauty specialized high schools located in B metropolitan city and N city. The responses were analysed with the use of the SPSS WIN 21.0. The results are presented as follows: Academic self-efficacy had a significant effect on learning flow and in particular, self-control efficacy and task difficulty preference were important factors. Based on the results above, it is suggested that teachers should present data that is properly converged by techniques and academic knowledge according to levels and steps so that students can have experiences of academic achievements and be encouraged to have higher self-efficiency.

  • This study is to determine if teaching of measuring the area of plane figures in elementary school is successful. While they teach to measure the area of figures in elementary school, students don't measure the segment of the figure directly until now. The figures are presented with auxiliary line and numerical information. When students measure the area of such figure, they do only substitute the number and calculate it. This study found that such teaching is not successful and propose the new teaching method of measuring the plane figures.

  • This research is how students and teacher apprehend mathematics education, pointing out problem areas as a basis on how to improve students understanding of mathematics through improved guidance by teachers in the future. 1107 high school students and 105 teachers from around Daejeon and Choongnam province were surveyed and the results were as follows. 1. 77 %( 852) of students viewed the "application of problem solving methods" as understanding mathematic problems. 2. Replies to the question on understanding the study of mathematics resulted in 85.7% of teachers saying "it is the understanding of the basic concept to which you solve the problems" 3. For questions relating to the large difference in-class mathematics achievements and mock University entrance exam achievements, students' response that "for in-class tests you only have to learn problems with similar form but the mock tests are not like that" pointed out the problem in the area of mathematics education. 4. For future mathematic education teachers will have to "explain better and more completely the basic principles and concepts before solving problems" , and make an effort to stimulate students by "creating a more fun atmosphere" . There will also be the need to prevent as much as possible, the use of "formula or memory driven problems" and encourage students to initiate problem solving for themselves.; and encourage students to initiate problem solving for themselves.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how 'free inquiry' was implemented in middle school science classrooms. In order to do this, survey and interviews were administered. The subject of survey was 165 science teachers at 58 middle schools and interviewees were 4 teachers and 10 students. As a result, 49.6% of science teachers in school year 2010, and 34.1% in 2011 applied 'free inquiry'. Teachers applied 'free inquiry' during one semester, and they let the students select topic of 'free inquiry'. Teachers grouped students according to students' opinion or their gender and ability, and one group was consisted of 4 students. The effect of applying 'free inquiry' was that students improved the interest on science, science inquiry ability and self directed learning capability. Students were interested in doing 'free inquiry', and they wanted to do it again. Teachers claimed that it took much time and effort to apply 'free inquiry', and students lacked science inquiry skills and interest on science. The teachers who did not apply 'free inquiry' stated reasons such as the shortage of instructional time, and they didn't think that 'free inquiry' should be implemented. For the effective implementation of 'free inquiry', this study suggested that teachers should be recognized the intention of 'free inquiry', teaching-learning materials about 'free inquiry' be developed and provided, and laboratory assistants be employed.
