  • As a tiered system of supports, School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS) is an evidence-based practice in the educational system of Korea. An important aspect of SWPBS is the ongoing progress monitoring and evaluation of implementation fidelity. This study aimed to develop and validate the Korean Tier 3 School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Implementation Fidelity Checklist (KT3-FC). The preliminary KT3-FC consisted of a 37-item, 6-factor checklist. In the first phase of the study, 10 experts reported that the range of content validity of the KT3-FC was adequate. In the second phase of the study, 185 teachers (52 men and 133 women) who implemented SWPBS completed the KT3-FC, Individualized Supports Questionnaire, School Climate Questionnaire, School Discipline Practice Scale, and PBS Effectiveness Scale. An exploratory factor analysis resulted in a 5-factor structure, with 20 items, instead of 37 items, consisting of: (a) progress monitoring and evaluation of the individualized supports, (b) provision of supports by aligning and integrating mental health and SWPBS, (c) crisis management planning, (d) problem behavior assessment, and (e) establishment of individualized support team. The internal consistency of the KT3-FC was good (full scale α = .950, sub-factor α = .888 ~ .954). In addition, the KT3-FC showed good convergent validity, having statistically significant correlations with the Individualized Support Questionnaire, School Climate Questionnaire, School Discipline Practice Scale, and the PBS Effectiveness Scale. Finally, the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the 5-factor model of the KT3-FC had some good model fits, indicating that the newly developed fidelity measure could be a reliable and valid tool to assess the implementation of Tier 3 supports in Korean schools. Accordingly, the KT3-FC could contribute to implement SWPBS as an evidence-based behavioral intervention for Korean students.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine emotional characteristics and to provide information about the special needs of counselling of science gifted in Korea. The subjects were 143 science gifted high school students in Busan that had been tested MBTI and MMPI-A. The distribution map of MBTI type was examined and Pearson's correlation, one-way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the relation between MBTI and MMPI-A through SPSS 17.0 program. The results showed as follows: first, ENTP, INTP, ISTJ personality types and NT temperament type were the most frequently from the distribution map of MBTI type. Second, F1, F2, F, Hs, D, Pt, Sc and Si scales of MMPI-A were positively related to I preference of MBTI and K and Ma scales of MMPI-A were significantly related to E preference of MBTI from Pearson's correlation. Third, The score of IN group was significantly more high in F1, Hs, D, SC and Si scales of MMPI-A than other group in the relation between two combination preferences of MBTI and scale of MMPI-A. The following results were same; IS group in D, Si scales, EN group in Ma scale, IT group in Hs, D, Pt and S scales, IF group in VRIN, D and Si scales, ET in Ma scale, IJ group in D and Si, IP group in F1, F, Hs, D, Hy, Pt, Sc and Si scales, EJ and EP groups in Ma scale. Finally, I preference of MBTI by F1, F2, F, Hs, D, Pt, Sc and Si scales of MMPI-A, E preference of MBTI by Ma scale of MMPI-A, F preference of MBTI by K scale of MMPI-A and P preference of MBTI by Hy scale of MMPI-A were significantly predicted from multiple regression analysis. Limitations of the current study and the suggestions for further research were offered.

  • In this study, we analyzed career paths and college life plans of department of chemistry education students in teacher's college examined by their roadmaps. We let students make their roadmaps and analyzed them using the PASW 18 program. There were significant differences on gender in their career paths, learning English, traveling and volunteer activity. Female students for passing the MEET(Medical Education Eligibility Test) or DEET(Dental Education Eligibility Test) were more interested in learning English and traveling than male students. In addition, female students were more interested in volunteer activity. And the lower year students, the more interested in medical paths, learning English, traveling, getting good grades, exchange student program and scholarship. On the other hand the higher year students, the more interested in group study or E-learning. Then significant differences were in learning English, traveling and getting good grades by students's career paths. Students who wish to pass the MEET or DEET were more interested in learning English and getting good grades. Those two factors were essential in passing the MEET or DEET. Students who did not specified their career paths had more traveling plans than other students for setting their directions of careers. These results show that freshman and female students don't recognize the identity of teacher's college correctly. Because of reduction in the number of teacher recruitment according to decrease of students by birth rate drop, students in teacher's college are expected to continue like this trend that students look for other paths. Therefore, it is required career counseling and guidance for students who give priority practical path choices and college life plans over original characteristics of teacher's college. And it should be reconsidered the direction of chemistry education prepared the identity of teacher's college reflected in this actuality.

  • This research analyzed the type of major research and support services provided by libraries in academic institutions. The research also investigated the awareness of users using the research and support services. We found that the awareness was influenced by users' major and status. In particular, prior usage of the services had statistically significant result depending on users' major and status. On the other hand, the rank of faculty members or the year of study for students were found to not have a significant influence on the general perception of the research support services. We also found that researchers require the support services in every stages of their study. In addition, the preference of training method and research guidance for such services differed by users' major.
