There was statistically significant difference in resilience on variables such as academic achievement, parental rearing attitudes, Resilience was negatively correlated with state-anxiety. Resilience was negatively correlated with depression. Self-esteem was positively correlated with depression. Factor influencing resilience were state-anxiety, high academic achievement, which explained 49.6%. Findings provide useful information for further studies in female high school students. Further research with careful sampling will be needed to enhance the resilience of male and female high school students,

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the campus life of engineering transfer students, to devise a means for increasing their participation in the ABEEK, and to assist them to have the satisfactory campus lives through researching the satisfaction level and the campus life adaptation of transfer students. We conducted a survey targeting 193 engineering transfer students of K university and D university. The study shows that most transfer students were accepted into college through a general screening process, their grades are likely to be lower than those of the previous college, however, they tend to be satisfactory with the current campus life, and the rate of participation in the ABEEK is low. Therefore university officials need to work hard to raise the rate of the participation in the ABEEK track and the campus life adaptation of transfer students. Moreover, the male transfer students tend to be more satisfactory than the female students, and students with higher grades in the previous college are likely to show higher adaptation than those with lower grades. Therefore we should make effort to increase the satisfaction of transfer students and need to accommodate the programs for the female transfer students more positively.

A questionnaire-based survey was conducted on high school students in Daegu, South Korea from November to December, 2015, and final data from 432 students was analyzed. Analysis of oral health-related quality of life in terms of general characteristics showed that both academic achievement and stress were significant factors (p<0.05). With respect to school life satisfaction, academic achievement was found to be a highly significant influencing factor (p<0.01). Correlation analyses of oral health-related quality of life with various factors of school life satisfaction showed positive correlations with personal relationships, educational learning environment, social support. Regression analysis of school life satisfaction showed that academic achievement and oral health-related quality of life were influencing factors. These results indicate that oral health-related quality of life may play a significant role in school life satisfaction.

  • Based on the operating system of the advanced school athletic clubs operated to attempt a new paradigm of athletic culture in the field of school athletics, this study aimed to conduct an in-depth analysis of the student athletes' academic level and seek a solution for the stream of the times and integrated change based on a relative minimum academic achievement standard applied by this system. For Analyzing the difference in academic grades between subjects to which the minimum academic achievement standard by the event is applied, one-way ANOVA and MANOVA were used. First, the grade point average (GPA) of the student athletes by the event did not reach the GPA of most general students. Second, it was predicted that in applying a standard, relative to the general students, as academic grades increased, the probability in which the student athletes do not reach the minimum academic achievement standard would increase. Third, it turned out that, even in the phased application of the current minimum academic achievement standard to the GPA of the student athletes by the event, the ratio of the attainment of the minimum academic achievement was similar.

  • Using the College Scholastic Ability Test of year 1995, the paper investigates effects of classroom peers on a student's test scores. It exploits exogenous assignment of students across different classrooms within a school under the leveling policy in 1990s. The empirical results reveal strong impacts of peers on individual students. Negative effects of low-performing peers exceed positive effects of high-performing peers. Such a structure of peer interactions has important implications for ability grouping vs. mixing debates in Korea.

  • Mathematics is among the most important subjects in the middle school curriculum, yet the most hated subjects by students. The present study investigated the role of perceived executive functioning on the middle school student's mathematics achievement, after controlling for other psychological factors. Results showed that the students levels of executive functioning was predictive of their mathematics achievement test scores, even after motivational and attitude variables were controlled. The impact of the executive functioning was especially noticeable for the low achievers. On the other hand, for those whose scores were high, biological variables were the only significant predictors of their scores. The results of the present study imply that the intervention programs for improving mathematics achievement of middle school students should consider the different effect of cognitive and psychological factors on their achievements.
