Investigation into Thread Rolling Characteristics of Subminiature Screws According to Thread Shapes (나사산 형상에 따른 초소형 나사 전조공정의 성형특성 고찰)

  • Recent trends in miniaturization and lightness in portable electronics parts have driven developments in subminiature screws. This study aims to investigate the thread rolling process of a subminiature screw with an outer diameter and pitch of 1.0 and 0.25 mm, respectively. Finite element (FE) analyses were performed for the thread rolling process of symmetric and asymmetric screw threads. Through FE analyses, various process parameters, such as the horizontal and vertical die gap and the rolling stroke, were investigated in terms of the forming accuracy. The material flow characteristics in the thread rolling process of the symmetric and asymmetric screws were also discussed, and the relevant process parameters were determined accordingly. These simulation results were then reflected on real thread rolling processes, from which the symmetric and asymmetric screws could be formed successfully with allowable dimensional accuracy.

Turbulent Heat Transfer and Friction in Four-Wall Convergent/Divergent Square Channels with One Ribbed Wall (한면에 리브가 설치된 4벽면 수축/확대 채널의 난류 열전달과 유체마찰)

  • The local heat transfer and pressure drop of developed turbulent flows in convergent/divergent channels with square axial cross-sectional areas were experimentally investigated to improve the channel design, such as a gas turbine cooling system. Square convergent/divergent channels with one ribbed wall were manufactured with a fixed rib height e of 10 mm and a ratio of rib spacing p to height e of 10. The measurement was conducted for Reynolds numbers from 15,000 to 89,000. Convergent, divergent, and straight channels with ratios $D_{ho}/D_{hi}$ of 0.75, 1.33, and 1.0, respectively, are considered. Of the three channel types, the ribbed divergent channel was found to produce the best thermal performance under identical flow rate, pumping power, and pressure loss conditions.

  • 패키징 구조의 발전이 점차 중요한 문제로 대두되어, 칩의 집적 기술의 발전에 따라 실장기술에서도 고속화, 소형화, 미세피치화, 고정밀화, 고밀도화가 요구되고있다. 최근 선진국을 중심으로 전자 전기기기 및 부품의 실장기술에서도 환경 친화적인 기술을 요구함에 따라, 저에너지 공정 및 무연 실장 기술에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 기존의 SOP(Small Out-line Package), QFP(Quad Flat Package) 등은 소형화, 다핀화, 고속화, 실장성에 한계가 있기 때문에, SMT(Surface Mount Technology) 형식으로 된 BGA(Ball Grid Array)가 휴대형 전화를 비롯한 기타 전자 부품 실장에 널리 사용되고 있다. BGA ball shear 법은 BGA 모듈의 생산 및 취급 중에 발생할지도 모르는 기판에 수평으로 작용하는 기계적인 전단력에 BGA solder ball이 견딜 수 있는 정도를 측정하기 위해 사용되는 시험법이다. 전단 시험에 의한 전단 강도의 측정 외에 전기전도도 측정, 파면 관찰, 이동거리(displacement), 유한요소 해석법 등을 병행하여 시험법의 신뢰성 향상에 대한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 실험에서는 지름이 $500{\mu}m$인 Sn-3.5Ag 솔더볼을 이용하여 세라믹 기판을 접합하여 BGA 패키지를 완성하였다. 상부 기판에 솔더볼을 정렬시켜 리플로우 방법으로 접합 한 후 솔더볼이 접합된 상부 기판과 하부 기판을 접합 하여 시편을 제작하였다. 접합된 시편들은 $150^{\circ}C$에서 0~800시간 열처리를 실시하였고, 열처리를 하면서 각각 $3{\times}10^2A/cm^2,\;5{\times}10^3A/cm^2$의 전류를 인가하였다. 시편들을 전단 시험기를 이용하여 솔더볼의 기계적 특성 평가를 하였으며, 계면 반응을 관찰하였다.

Measurement of Rotor Blade Deformation and Motions using Stereo Pattern Recognition Method (SPR 기법을 이용한 회전 블레이드의 변형 및 모션 측정)

  • A measurement system using stereo pattern recognition (SPR) method was configured to measure the rotor blade deformations and motions. An SPR-based measurement system was prepared using six stereo cameras. Through a series of experiments to evaluate the system measurement uncertainty, it was verified that the SPR system had less than 0.2mm standard uncertainty. The combined standard uncertainties for the lead-lag, flapping, and pitching motions were estimated as 0.296mm, 0.209mm, and $0.238^{\circ}$, respectively. The SPR system was installed at a general small-scaled rotor test system at Korea Aerospace Research Institute. The blade motions and elastic deformation were successfully measured under the conditions with rotating speeds of 360rpm or 589rpm, and collective pitch angles of $0^{\circ}$, $4^{\circ}$, or $6^{\circ}$. The advantages of the SPR system was analyzed in comparison with the measurement system used in Higher Harmonic Control Aeroacoustic Rotor Test -II.

Thrust Characteristics of Dual Flapping Airfoils in a Biplane Configuration (복엽기 배치의 복식 플랩핑 에어포일들의 추력 특성)

  • The wake patterns and thrust characteristics of dual flapping airfoils in a biplane configuration are investigated using an unsteady panel method. To trace complicated wake shapes behind airfoils, a core addition scheme, a vortex core model, and the fourth order Runge-Kutta convection scheme are employed. Present results are verified by comparing them with flow visualization, exact solution and published computed results. The thickness and camber of thick airfoils has an effect of decreasing thrust. The airfoils produce maximum thrust when the phase angles between plunging and pitching motions are both 90 and 120 degrees. Thrust increases as the plunge velocity is increased, which is also found as the pitch amplitude is stepped up. Thrust decreases when the distance between the airfoils is less than 0.6c.

Intelligent 3-D Obstacle Avoidance Algorithm for Autonomous Control of Underwater Flight Vehicle (수중비행체의 자율제어를 위한 지능형 3-D 장애물회피 알고리즘)

  • In real system application, the 3-D obstacle avoidance system for the autonomous control of the underwater flight vehicle (UFV) operates with the following problems: the sonar offers the range/bearing information of obstacles in a local detection area, it requires the system that has reduced acoustic noise and power consumption in terms of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), it has the UFV operation constraints such as maximum pitch and depth, and it requires an easy design procedure in terms of its structures and parameters. To solve these problems, an intelligent 3-D obstacle avoidance algorithm using the evolution strategy (ES) and the fuzzy logic controller (FLC), is proposed. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, the 3-D obstacle avoidance of UFV is performed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively solves the problems in the real system application.

Preference Factors of the Korean MZ Generation vis-à-vis the Online Programs of Museums Abroad (비대면 시대 해외 뮤지엄의 온라인 프로그램에 대한 한국 MZ 세대의 선호요인 연구)

  • This study aims to analyze the preference factors of the Korean MZ generation with regards to the online programs developed by museums abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic. World renown museums such as the British Museum, the National Gallery of London, Van Gogh Museum, J. Paul Getty Museum, Hasting Contemporary, Uffizi Gallery, and the Guggenheim Museum tackled the social-distancing situation with various creative online programs and events to continue their role as socially relevant institutions. Ten acclaimed programs conducted by these museums were shown to the Korean MZ generation, the most digitally savvy and frequent visitors to museums, to extract their responses to the various types of programs. The study showed that the Korean MZ generation prefer online programs which most closely reflect the onsite experience of a museum, and online contents with educational elements.

Effect of Horizontal Pitch-to-Diameter Ratio on the Natural-Convection Heat Transfer of Two Staggered Cylinders (엇갈리게 배열된 두 개의 수평관에서 수평 피치-직경비에 따른 자연대류 열전달 영향)

  • This study measured the natural-convection heat transfer of two vertically staggered cylinders with varying vertical pitch-to-diameter ($P_v$/D) and horizontal pitch-to-diameter ($P_h$/D) ratios. The measured heat-transfer rates for the lower cylinder agreed well with the existing heat-transfer correlations for a single cylinder. At the smallest $P_v$/D, the rising plume from the lower cylinder provides the upper cylinder with a preheated flow, and the heat-transfer rates of the upper cylinder decrease, but increase very sensitively with $P_h$/D. However, at the largest $P_v$/D, the velocity effect dominates, and the heat-transfer rates of the upper cylinder are larger than that of a single cylinder, and decrease less sensitively with $P_h$/D. Even if $P_h$/D is increased, the heat-transfer rate of the upper cylinder is higher than that of the lower cylinder because of the chimney and side flow effects. This work expanded the flow ranges to turbulent flows. The cupric acid-copper sulfate ($H_2SO_4-CuSO_4$) electroplating system was adopted for the measurements of the mass-transfer rates instead of the heat-transfer experiments based on the analogy concept. The measurements were made by varying $P_v$/D (1.02-5) and $P_h$/D (0-2) in both laminar and turbulent flows. The Rayleigh number ranged from $1.5{\times}10^8$ to $2.5{\times}10^{10}$, and the Prandtl number was 2,014.

Flip Chip Process for RF Packages Using Joint Structures of Cu and Sn Bumps (Cu 범프와 Sn 범프의 접속구조를 이용한 RF 패키지용 플립칩 공정)

  • Compared to the chip-bonding process utilizing solder bumps, flip chip process using Cu pillar bumps can accomplish fine-pitch interconnection without compromising stand-off height. Cu pillar bump technology is one of the most promising chip-mounting process for RF packages where large gap between a chip and a substrate is required in order to suppress the parasitic capacitance. In this study, Cu pillar bumps and Sn bumps were electroplated on a chip and a substrate, respectively, and were flip-chip bonded together. Contact resistance and chip shear force of the Cu pillar bump joints were measured with variation of the electroplated Sn-bump height. With increasing the Sn-bump height from 5 ${\mu}m$ to 30 ${\mu}m$, the contact resistance was improved from 31.7 $m{\Omega}$ to 13.8 $m{\Omega}$ and the chip shear force increased from 3.8 N to 6.8 N. On the contrary, the aspect ratio of the Cu pillar bump joint decreased from 1.3 to 0.9. Based on the variation behaviors of the contact resistance, the chip shear force, and the aspect ratio, the optimum height of the electroplated Sn bump could be thought as 20 ${\mu}m$.

Design and Construction of the Prototype of 25 kW Small Combine for Harvesting Miscellaneous Cereal Crops (잡곡 수확용 25 kW급 소형 콤바인 시작기 설계 제작)

  • 현재 국내에 공급되고 있는 잡곡류 수확기는 보행형 예취기, 탈곡기 위주의 저능률 기계화 수준으로 고능률의 콤바인 수확기 개발이 필요하며, 특히 잡곡류가 소규모 경작지의 영세농가 위주로 재배되어 저가격의 소형 콤바인 수확기 개발이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 소규모 밭의 두류 및 잡곡 수확작업에 적응성이 뛰어나며, 농기계 임대사업소의 활용도를 높일 수 있고, 여성과 고령자도 쉽게 운전할 수 있어 수확작업의 노동력을 크게 절감할 수 있는 저가격의 25kW급 자주식 소형 콤바인을 개발하고자 시작기를 설계 제작하였다. 시작기의 주요부로 엔진은 25kW/2600rpm 3기통 디젤엔진을 탑재하였으며, 동력전달부는 주변속 3단, 부변속 2단의 선택맞물림 기어식의 변속장치를 이용하였다. 주행부는 궤도형으로 조향클러치와 습식 원판식 제동장치를 채용하였다. 전처리부는 선단거리 1700 mm의 디바이더와 상하좌우 수동 조절되는 회전속도 약 42 rpm의 정오각형 릴로 구성하였으며, 전처리부의 최대 승강높이는 740 mm이었다. 작물이송부는 돌기부착 오거와 체인컨베이어로 구성되어 있으며, 탈곡부는 단동형 축류식의 직경 440 mm, 길이 1180 mm의 급동과 높이 65 mm, 지름 10 mm의 46개 강봉형 급치, 격자형 수망으로 구성하였으며, 회전속도는 약 325 rpm으로 작동하도록 하였다. 선별 정선부는 요동 송풍선별식으로 곡립판, 볏짚체, 곡립체, 송풍팬으로 구성하였고 송풍팬의 회전속도는 약 850 rpm, 요동진동수는 약 5.8 Hz로 작동하도록 하였다. 곡물이송부와 재처리부는 수평이송 외경 103 mm, 수직이송 외경 110 mm의 피치가 모두 82 mm인 스크류컨베이어를 이용하였으며, 곡물탱크는 용량이 250 로 2개의 배출구로 곡물을 포대에 담도록 하였다. 그 외 시작기는 운전조작부, 유압장치부, 전기장치부 등을 갖도록 설계 제작하였다. 전체적인 기체의 크기는 길이${\times}$${\times}$높이 $3935{\times}1900{\times}2440mm$이었으며, 기체 중량은 약 1753 kg이었다. 콩 대상 기초 성능시험 결과 시작기의 작업속도는 약 0.5 m/s, 작업능률은 약 11 a/h로 나타났다.
