Effect of ${\beta}$-glucan Originated from Aureobasidium on the Dermal Wound Repair in Vitro Model (생체외 모델에서 아우레오바지디움 유래 베타 글루칸이 피부창상 치유에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of the present study is to detect the effect of ${\beta}$-glucan originated from Aureobasidium on the proliferation and collagen production in human dermal fibroblast cells with wound repopulation in vitro. The proliferative effects were assessed using a MTT assay as well as cell counts at 24 and 48 hr after treatment. Hydroxyproline was measured as an index of procollagen production with reverse-phase high pressure liquid chromatography. Oncostatin M was used as a reference agent. In glucagon treated group, dose-dependent and significant increase of optical density or fibroblast cell numbers was demonstrated, when compared with those of control from 0.1 mg/ml concentration. In addition, the numbers of cells which had migrated into the wound defects were more significantly and dose-dependently increased than those of non-treated control. However, no meaningful effects on the procollagen production were observed.

The Effects of Magnesium Rich Sea Mineral Water on Atopic Dermatitis-like Skin Lesions in Hairless Mice (마그네슘 풍부 해양미네랄 용액이 hairless 마우스의 아토피성 피부염에 미치는 영향)

  • Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronically relapsing inflammatory skin disease that often has asthma and allergic rhinitis. Magnesium salts, the important component of minerals in Dead Sea water, are known to exhibit beneficial effects in inflammatory disease. Favorable effects of magnesium ions and sea water treated to the skin of patients with contact dermatitis have been reported. But histological and immunological investigations are insufficient. This study was performed to examine the inhibitory effect of magnesium-rich sea mineral water on the development of AD-like skin lesions in hairless mice. AD-like skin lesions are induced by the repeated application of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB). Local application of magnesium-rich sea mineral water on hairless mice skin applied with DNCB inhibited the development of AD-like skin lesions as exemplified by a significant increase in skin hydration (p<0.01), and a decrease in epidermal water loss (p<0.01). Serum IgE level was also significantly decreased (p<0.01). These results suggest that magnesium-rich sea mineral water inhibits the development of DNCB-induced AD-like skin lesions in hairless mice. These observations indicate that magnesium-rich sea mineral water may be alternative and assistant substances for the management of AD.

Effects of Cotton Balls of Alcohol and Povidone for Disinfectoin of Skin in Newborns (신생아에서 알코올 솜 및 포비돈 솜의 피부 소독효과 비교)

  • Purpose : Despite of development of neonatal intensive care, infections, especially catheter-related infection, have been a major problem in newborns on intensive care. Catheter-related infection is closely related to skin colonization so that skin disinfection is crucial to protect newborns from the infection. Cotton balls of seventy percent alcohol made by hospital frequently open to air so that composition of alcohol may be easily evaporated. We hypothesized that 10% povidone would have better disinfection compared to 70% alcohol and normal saline. Methods : The effect of skin disinfection was evaluated in newborn infants who were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) of Hanyang University Kuri Hospital by a skin swab culture before and after disinfectant exposure. Before skin disinfective preparation, the peripheral intravenous catheter insertion sites were swabbed for culture with sterile cotton moistened with normal saline. Cotton balls of 70% alcohol(Alcohol group, n=20) or 10% povidone and 70% alcohol(povidone group, n=20) were randomly selected. Normal saline swabs were used for controls(n=10). After swabbing, the skin swab culture was done on same sites with same procedure. Results : Before skin disinfection, culture-positivity was shown in 9 of 20 leases of alcohol and povidone groups, respectively and in 8 of 10 cases of the controls. After skin disinfection, culture-positivity was still shown in 3 of 9 cases of the Alcohol group, in 2 of 9 of the Povidone group, and in 6 of 8 cases of the controls. Disinfective effect was significantly different among the 3 groups(p=0.0387). The povidone group had significantly better disinfection than the controls(p=0.0156), but the alcohol group was not significantly different from the controls. Conclusion : The cotton balls of povidone had similar effect of disinfection compared to those of alcohol, but better disinfection than the controls. A disinfective effect of the cotton balls of alcohol was not, however, significantly different from the controls. We suggest that purity of alcohol, quality control of cotton balls of alcohol, and disinfection method should be reevaluated.

Effect of Complex Extracts of Mushroom and Sharp Toothed Eel on the Skin Conditions with Atopic Dermatitis and Acne Symptoms (갯장어 및 버섯 혼합추출물의 아토피 및 여드름 피부개선 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate effect of complex extract of various mushrooms and sharp toothed eel on the skin conditions with atopic dermatitis and acne symptoms. The total phenol concentration was increased in order of hot water> ethanol> ethyl acetate> petroleum ether> chloroform extract. Especially, when the hot water extract was used, it was about 2-3 fold higher than that of ethyl acetate, petroleumether, and chloroform extract. When the complex extract concentration was increased from 1.0 to 50 mg/L, the DPPH scavenging rate increased from 10.1 to 81.4%. The reduction power was sharply increased from 0.05 to 0.27 (700 nm) when the complex extract concentration was increased from 25 to 75 mg/L. However, above 100 mg/L, it was not decreased. In the case of SOD-like activity, it was 45.7% at 100 mg/L. Total numbers of patients with atopic dermatitis were 15 and 5 patients with severe acne symptoms. According to photos taken before and after the treatment and questionnaire results, considerable improvements in skin conditions are observed in the patients with atopic dermatitis and acne. For atopic patients, erythema and edema have been improved but the degree of effect was dependent on the individual's constitution. Concerning acne, the effect of coating of the extracts was prominent for first week and the degree decreased with time till 4 weeks. The complex extracts wereefficient in soothing rash and maturation. Side effects such as a scar were not detected during the application and treatment.

  • This experiment was applied to examine the effects of ${\beta}$-glucan originated from Aureobasidium on wound healing infected by 3 strains of bacteria in the normal nude mouse. From the results it was suggested that ${\beta}$-glucan has properties, which may be beneficial in the treatment of wound healing though it does not showed any antibacterial activities against wound infections by three strains such as S. aureus, S. pyogenes and P. aeruginosa. Therefore, it is considered that ${\beta}$-glucan will be promised as a new wound management.

  • Aromatherapy는 향을 이용하여 생리적 및 심리적 효과를 나타내는 치료법이다. 향의 종류에 따라 여러 효과들이 나타나고 있는데 본 연구에서는 이완 유도향 제품을 개발하기 위해 자율신경계로부터의 신호인 Galvanic skin resistance(GSR), 피부온도, 심박수 등과 뇌파에서의 변화를 측정하여 이완의 정도를 측정하고자 하였다. 실험방법은 4 종류의 aromatherapy용으로 조제된 복합향(#2033, #2026, #11, #13)을 이용하고 피검자는 후각기능이 정상이며 물리적 및 심리적 stress가 없고, 음주, 담배를 3일전까지 경험이 없는 군을 택하였다. 향을 주는 시간은 1분으로 하였으며 순서에 의한 효과를 없애기 위해 4 종류를 random order에 의해 실시하였다. 대조군으로는 증류수를 이용하여 실험 전, 실험 중, 실험 후에서 각각 측정하였으며 또한 각성효과가 좋은 jasmine과 이완 효과를 보이는 lavender를 같은 protocol로 시행하여 이완의 효과를 비교하였다. 뇌파는 FFT분석에 따라 각 주파수 영역 즉 beta, alpha, theta, delta로 나누어 분석하였다. Jasmine과 lavender의 이완 효과에서는 GSR의 변화와 HRV의 변화를 보고한 바 있다(백,1998). 또한 심리불안 효과와 향 이미지 검사를 동시에 시행하여 주관적지표로 삼았다. 실험 결과에서는 이러한 4 종류의 향은 모두 GSR의 현저한 감소 효과를 보였으며, 심박수와 피부온도의 감소경향을 나타내었다. 자율신경계 반응에 따라 4 종류 향의 이완 효과의 순서를 결정할 수 있었다. 주관적 검사와의 상관관계도 잘 나타났으며 이미지는 이완 정도와 섬세하다 항목이 잘 반영되었다. 뇌파의 변화에서는 의미 있는 변화는 보이지 않았다. 결론적으로 relaxation 효과는 GSR를 비롯한 자율신경계지표에서 잘 반영되었다.^2$=.792가 되었다. 설명되는 누적분산값은 67.18%였다.주관적 평가의 결과와 객관적 평가 결과를 이용해 마직물의 태를 평가하는 산출식을 제시하였다. 태 평가치의 경우 16가지 특성치를 모두 넣는 방법과 stepwise 방법, 또 Kawabatark 사용한 순차적 군 회귀법의 세가지 방법의 회귀식 중 16가지 특성치를 모두 넣는 방법의 결정계수가 가장 높았다.tosterone농도는 107.7$\pm$12.0 pmol/l이었고, 남성의 타액내 농도는 274.2$\pm$22.1 pmol/l이었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 본 연구에서 정립된 EIA 방법은 RIA를 대신하여 소규모의 실험실에서도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사려된다.또한 상실기 이후 배아에서 합성되며, 발생시기에 따라 그 영향이 다르고 팽창과 부화에 관여하는 것으로 사료된다. 더욱이, 조선의 ${\ulcorner}$구성교육${\lrcorner}$이 조선총독부의 관리하에서 실행되었다는 것을, 당시의 사범학교를 중심으로 한 교육조직을 기술한 문헌에 의해 규명시켰다.nd of letter design which represents -natural objects and was popular at the time of Yukjo Dynasty, and there are some documents of that period left both in Japan and Korea.   • 오늘날 화장품 산업은 역동적으로 끊임없이 변화하고 있다. 화장품은 한 사회 구성원들의 다양한 욕구, 가치관 및 생할양식에 영향을 미치며 심지어는 국가의 정치적 기후나 경제적인 상태를 나타내는 지표역할을 담당하기도 한다. 즉, 화장품 과학은 예방의학, 건강과학이라는 차원에서 뿐만 아니라 미적인 차원에서 새로운 상품개발이 진행되어갈 것이다. 지금 우리는 21세기를 향하여 1990년대의 중반기에 들어섰다. 80년대는 물질 문명의 중심으로 생활의 질의 풍요로움을 추구하였으나 90년대는 소비자 우선의 풍요로움을 향수하는 시대가 되었다. 또한 여성이 사회진출, 고령화의 급속한 진전, 고 학력화, 개인의 가치관 존중 및 많은 생활패턴의 변화가 마음의 풍요로움을 구하는 사람들이 늘어나고 물질적 의존도로 부터의 탈피가 크게 강조되고 있다. 이에 마음의 풍요로움을 창조하여 연출하는 화장품산업의 역할이 고기능성에 의한 부가가치를 높이고 마음의 풍요로움을 지원하기 위한 연구개발에 중점을 두고 진행되어 가고 있다. 화장품을 여성들의 치장이라고 하는 주체적 행위에 도움을 주는 하드웨어라고 한다면 소비자의 마음은 소프트웨어로써 소비자 입장에서 만족할 수 있는 전략을 구사하는 아이디어가 있어야 하는데 그에 상응하는 대책으로 스킨케어를 들 수 있다. 스킨케어란 병든 피부를 제외한 여러 가지 유형의 피부를 화장품과 미용기기를 이용하여 그에 맞게 예방관리 하여 건강하고 아름답게 보호 유지하는 전문 분야이다. 즉, 스킨케어는 화장품 이용을 통하여 미래의 소비자들의 다양한 비용 욕구 및 소망에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는 소프트웨어라고 할 수 있다., 또한 스킨케어는 화장품 뿐만 아니라 신체적 접촉을 통하여 안위를 제공하는 수단으로 단순한 피부손질이라는 문제에 그치지 않고 접촉을 통해 마음과 신체의 균형을 꾀하는 생명현상의 심층과 연관되는 중요한 의미가 있다. 스킨케어는 불어로 Soin Esthetique 라고 하는데 어원을 보면 손질, 처치, 보살핌 그리고 배려를 의미한다. 지금으로부터 200년전 독일의 미학자인 Baumgarten이 미는 인간에게 만족과 쾌감을 주는 대상이며 미는 보는 사람의 마음에 있다라는 감성의 미학에서 Esthetique라는 단어를 처음 사용했다. 다시 말하면 Soim Esthetique는 인간의 마음 만족과 쾌감을 주는 배려 있는 조치로써 여성이 화장을 함으로써 외모의 조화에서 마음과 신체의 균형을 꾀하는 생명현상의 심층과 연관되는 것과 마찬가지로 에스테틱과 화장의 심리는 매우 땔래야 땔 수 없는 불과분의 밀접한 관계라 볼 수 있다.

A Study on the Effect of Skin Management which is based on the Lifestyle of Middleaged and Old Age Women (중.노년층 여성의 라이프스타일에 따른 외모 관리 효과에 관한 연구 - 피부 관리 효과를 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims at clarifying the action types of skin management which is base on age, marriage or not, family composition, school career, and income which are demographic variables centering around the lifestyle of middleaged and old age women. As for study method, this researcher executed literature study and questionnaire on adult women over 45 years old who dwell in Seoul and Kyounggi area. Survey period was Mar. 1, 2009 to Jun. 30. And, after distributing 1,000 copies of questionnaire, this researcher used effective 869 copies of questionnaire for analysis out of collected questionnaire, 895 copies. As for analysis method, this researcher executed DUNCAN test with factor analysis, reliability analysis, manin component analysis, K-average, multitude analysis, dispersion analysis and post verification by using SPSS 12.0 program. As for demographic feature for middle aged and old age women, 50~59 years old women were most by age as 302 persons(33.7%). It is emerging that spouse existence is very high as 674 persons(75.3%) in the answer for marriage or not, couple family to live with unmarried children is very high as 483 persons(54.0%) in the answer for family composition, leaving high school in mid-course or gradation of high school are very high as 356 persons(39.8%) in the answer for school career, income from 3 million Won under 4 million won is very high as 260 persons(29.1%) in the answer for monthly income of family members, and women to use under 50 thousand won is very high as 510 persons(57.0%) in the monthly average expense to be used for skin management. In this study, this researcher extracted total 5 factors (economic saving, displaying consumption, confidence inclination, centering around family, and leisure application) by executing factor analysis with 12 question items of lifestyle so as to grasp factor structure of lifestyle of middleaged and old age people, and whole explanatory variable quantity was 70.9%. This researcher named as economic saving type, diplaying consumption style, and type centering around leisure and family, after making multitude analysis about 5 factors analyzed by measuring lifestyle feature. As the result of structure analysis of question items of skin management(pursuit of skin management, life of skin management, and inclination of skin management), this researcher extracted total 3 factors, and whole explanatory variable quantity was 71.30%. Thus, it emerged that there is significant difference among groups.

Effects of Vegetable Peptones on Promotion of Cell Proliferation and Collagen Production (Vegetable Peptones의 세포증식 및 콜라겐생성 촉진효과)

  • Skin aging appears to be principally attributed to a decrease in both levels of Type I collagen and regeneration ability of dermal fibroblasts. It is important to introduce an efficient and safe agent for effective management of skin aging. To this end, we performed screening for anti-ageing agents and then found that vegetable peptones (pea and wheat) promoted cell proliferation of adult stem cells. Vegetable peptones may be considered as useful medium additives because it can supply nutrients, peptides, amino acids or growth factor analogues. This study was designed to investigate effects of vegetable peptones on cell proliferation/collagen production and their possible mechanisms in human dermal fibroblasts. In cell proliferation assay, vegetable peptones significantly promoted cell proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner. In addition, human COL1A2 promoter luciferase and type I procollagen synthesis assays showed that vegetable peptones induce type I procollagen production through the activation of COLlA2 promoter. In both TGF-${\beta}1$ luciferase reporter and ELISA assays, vegetable peptones was found to induce TGF-${\beta}1$ production, suggesting that vegetable peptones induce type I procollagen production through the activation of TGF-${\beta}1$. When applied topically in a human skin twice a day for an 4-week period of time, vegetable peptones did not induce any adverse reactions. Theretore, based on these results, we suggest the possibility that vegetable peptones may be considered as an attractive, wrinkle-reducing candidate for topical application.

  • $\delta$-Aminolievulinic acid (ALA)는 대부분의 생물에 필수적인 tetrapyroll 화합물의 생합성 전구체로 최근 들어 다양한 의학적 용도 (피부암 치료제, 화상치료제, 면역증 강제 등)가 밝혀짐에 따라 이의 생산 및 사용범위에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다 (Elfsson, 1998). 또한 양식어의 사육시 그 피해가 심각한 바이러스(이리도바이러스, 버나바이러스, 및 새우의 백점바이러스 등)와 원생충에 의한 감염성질병에 대하여 탁월한 예방 및 치료 효과를 나타내었으며, 저 농도의 경구투여에 의하여 항바이러스성 및 면역활성 유발 기능이 확인되어지는 등, 질병 관리를 위한 새로운 기능이 확인되었다.
