An Empirical Study on Berth-Length Calculation of Container Terminal (컨테이너 터미널 선석길이 산정에 관한 실증 연구)

  • In order to mitigate the overcapacity of Busan port, Busan new port has been developed as transshipment port which is capable of handling 8,000 TEU containership. Generally, design of transshipment port has to reflect the capacity of feeder because both mother vessels and feeders enter the planned port at the same time. However, the existing plan of Busan new port capacity needs to be reexamined since the adopted capacity of each berth at new port, 300,000 TEU, does not seem to be enough to handle both mother vessels and feeders. Therefore, in this study we calculated the required number of berth and berth length by considering cargo handling capacity in terms of the ship size and this study makes some implications in relation with the terminal development plan.

  • Transshipment cargo volume in 2010 compared to 1st quarter 2011 increased 8.43 percent of busan port for transshipment of cargo. thus transshipment of cargo is growing among, south east container terminals and Horando area of new port is planing to develop using small dock for the operations in order to enable. therefore, this study is to deduce implications for operating activation about 6 berths of feeder port in pusan new port that is planing to develop with dock that could be docked very large container ships and feeder dock that could be handled transshipment of cargo.

  • In these days, 8000TEU container ship service launches in shipping service at latest based on the economy of scale, unit cast related with ship operation on ocean decreases in proportion to increase of ship scale and mega ship over 10,000TEU is on planning. This paper is analyzed the economic efficiency for reduction qf calling port in the operation cost, port chnrge, feeder cost, etc by an empirical analysis.

  • This paper investigate the problems of standard container port handling capacity in establishing national port development plan in Korea. Considering container port developing, it's not easy to adopt container port service quality parameters such as lay time constraint of very large container ships by using the standard guideline of container port handling capacity. A simple methodology that connects vessel waiting to service time(w/s) and berth occupancy to costs has been used to evaluate the performance of a container terminal. But the total handling capacity have to be calculated by the performance of the handling system and number of equipments and layout of terminal by using computer simulation that represents of reality events needs to be performed by probabilistic techniques. A simulation model of estimation of container terminal capacity is introduced in order to establish a hub terminal for very large container ships that focus the port's quality of service and also suggest as tool for policy maker to justify a required port investment.

  • The volume of the world's container transportation has been increasing. To serve this transportation need, the size of the container carrier is getting larger. The global ports are required to deepen the waterways as well as to prepare infrastructure to serve these super-size container carriers. However, few ports around the world could meet the requirements. To solve these difficulties, the concept of the Mobile Harbor has been developed. An onboard Automatic Storage and Retrieval System(AS/RS) has been proposed for the B1 type Mobile Harbor to maximize the container throughput within the limited space of the Mobile Harbor. A scenario of operations and freight movements of the B1 type Mobile Harbor is prepared and the storage size of the B1 type Mobile Harbor through the computer simulation is estimated. The size of the Mobile Harbor and the size of the AS/RS has also been estimated. The optimized size of the Mobile Harbor could be proposed.

  • Amid global economic crisis and skyrocketing oil prices, container shipping companies have raised a sustained series of efforts to reduce vessel operating costs. Under these circumstances, the Grand Alliance has decided to install the dedicated feeder instead of additional vessels in the CCX(Central China Express) and the NCE(North China Express) route. In other words, a vessel in a trunk route is transshiped by a dedicated feeder vessel in Busan port that is a transshipment port, rather than calling at Northen China port. In this study, the actual operating data of Grand Alliance container services were analyzed to determine the economic effect of transshipment through a dedicated feeder service. In this way, the Grand Alliance are saving vessel operating expenses in 'NCE' and 'CCX' routes, making the slow steaming of vessels possible in these trunk routes.

  • A circumferential guided wave method was developed to detect the axial crack on the bent feeder pipe. Dispersion curves of circumferential guided waves were calculated as a function of curvature of the pipe. In the case of thin plate, i.e. infinite curvature, as the frequency increases, the $S_0$ and $A_0$ mode coincide and eventually become Rayleigh wave mode. In the case of pipe, however, as the curvature increases, the lowest modes do not coincide even in the high frequencies. Based on the analysis, a rocking technique using angle beam transducer was applied to detect an axial defect in the bent region of PHWR feeder pipe. Based on the analysis of experimenal data for artificial notches, the vibration modes of each signal were identified. It was found that the notches with the depth of )0% of wall thickness can be detected with the method.

  • 현재 유산균은 요구르트, 치즈, 케피어(kefir), 에시도필러스 밀크(acidophilus milk), 비피더스 밀크(bifidus milk), 쿠미스(kumiss), 발효버터(fermented butter), 유산균음료, 빵 등 식품의 천연 방부제, 채소절임, 발효두유(fermented soy milk), 정장제, 구강염증치료제, 사료 첨가제 등등 다양하게 이용되고 있다. 이것은 유산균에 대한 동결건조, 유전자 조작 등 첨단기술이 산업화로 연결되면서 그 이용성이 더욱 확장되고 있다. 유산균을 이용한 건강보조식품도 최근 몇년 사이에 선을 보이고 있지만 아직은 초보적인 단계이며 현재로선 유산균 발효식품과 유산균제제(의약품) 사이에서 뚜렷한 자기자리를 찾지 못하고 있는 실정이다.

Most of the exiting researches have performed from the perspective of total operation cost from mega port to mega port. However, the purpose of this paper is to estimate economic efficiency by ports selected Hub port from total cost point of view, operation cost, port charge, feeder cost, etc.
