The albino plants of tobacco (Nicotiana tobacum L. cv. BY-4) were isolated from seed populations that were induced by heavy-ion ($^{14}N$) beam irradiation to proembryo and the in vitro growth and differentiation have been characterized. The in vitro cultured albino plants showed significant reduction of chlorophyll content and possessed larger number of stomata on both upper and lower epidermis than that of wild-type plants. Stem growth of the mutants remained dwarfed, however, the internode recovered its normal length after GA$_3$ treatment (10.0mg/L) on the MS medium containing sucrose under continuous light. When explants of leaf blades of albino plants were cultured, multiple shoots formed directly on MS medium containing 1.0mg/L of BAP or kinetin and a large number of calli were induced on the MS medium containing 1.0mg/L NAA or 1.0 mg/L 2,4-D. The albino calli regenerated multiple albino plantlets in the MS medium containing 0.1mg/L NAA + 1.0 mg/L BAP. No significant differences between the wild-type and albino plants were detected in the multiple shoot induction, callus formation from the explants and the plantlets regeneration from calli. In addition, albino plants have a similar organogenesis Pattern to that of the wild-type in the media with different combinations of NAA (0 to 5.0mg/L) and BAP (0 to 5.0mg/L) treatment. These results indicate that the albino mutant has the same normal regeneration ability as that of wild-type, although the mutant has lost functions in photosynthesis, such as pigmentation.

For the aim of thin electromagnetic wave absorbers used in mobile telecommunication frequency band (0.8-2.0㎓), we investigate high-frequency magnetic, dielectric and microwave absorbing properties of iron particles dispersed in rubber matrix in this study. The major experimental variables are particle shape (sphere and flake) and initial particle size (in the range 5-70 $\mu\textrm{m}$) of iron powders. High value of magnetic permeability and dielectric permittivity can be obtained in the composites containing thin plate-shape (flake) iron particles (of which thickness is less than skin depth in ㎓frequency), which can be produced by mechanical forging of spherical iron powders using an attrition mill. This result is attributed to the reduction of eddy current loss (increase of permeability) and the increase of space charge polarization (increase of permeability). The optimum initial particle size is found to be about 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ for the attainment of the material parameters (particularly, real part of complex permeability) satisfying the wave impedance matching. With the iron powders controlled in size and shape as absorbent fillers in rubber matrix, the thickness can be reduced to about 0.7mm with respect to -5㏈ reflection loss (70% power absorption) in mobile telecommunication frequency band.
The study was conducted to estimate the contents of heavy metal in commercial herbal medicines (1047 samples of 132 species) which were collected from markets in Seoul and to analyze the contents of heavy metals of herbal medicines by classifying them by parts. The samples were digested using microwave method. The contents of heavy metal (Pb, Cd, and As) and Hg were determined using Inductively coupled plasma-Mass spectrometer (ICP/MS). And the contents of Hg were obtained by Mercury analyzer. The average values of heavy metal in herbal medicines were as follows [mean (minimum-maximum), mg/kg]; Pb 0.870 (ND-69.200), As 0.148 (ND-2.965), Cd 0.092 (ND-2.010), and Hg 0.007 (ND-0.B7). And the average values of heavy metal by parts in herbal medicines were as follows [mean (minimum-maximum), mg/kg]; Ramulus 2.046 (0.065-4.474), Herba 1.886 (0.048-10.404), Flos 1.874 (0.052-5.393), Cortex 1.377 (0.011-4.837), Radix 1.165 (0.012-70.111), Rhizoma 1.116 (0.016-5.490, Fructus 0.838 (0.017-4.527), Perithecium 0.729 (0.013-4.953), Semen 0.646 (0.006-4.416). The average values of heavy metal of imported herbal medicines except Radix were higher than domestic ones. By decoction of herbal medicines exceeding the tolerances, average intake rates of Pb, As, Cd and Hg were obtained as 6.1%, 40.3%, 4.7%, and 2.2%, respectively.

The goal of this study is to express the image of chameleons-that change their colors by light, temperature and its mood-into the sexy styles of corresponding coquettish temperamental people in Wearable Art. The method used in this study was experimenting various production mediums, including creating the textured stretch fabric, in the process of expressing the conceptual characteristics of the chameleon in Wearable Art. The concept of the work was a concoction of 'tempting', 'splendid', 'brilliant', 'fascinating', etc. that highlighted the real disposition of the chameleon. The futuristic preference of the researcher was also implicated. "Comfortable" and "enjoyable" concepts via motions were improved with the its completeness. The point of the design and production is to express symbolically the chameleon in real life, analyzing its sleek body lines, conditional colors changing, outer skins and the cubic textures. The coquettish temperamental image, the conceptual image of the chameleon, was also expressed by implication into the whole work. The entire line of this work is body-conscious silhouette. It was symbolically selected to image the outline of the chameleon that has the slim and sleek body. The exposed back is intended to express symbolically the projected back bones of the chameleon. The hood of gentle triangle line expresses the smooth-lined head part. The irregular hemlines represent the elongated chameleon's tale. The chameleon with its colors of vivid tones is characterized the colors changing by its conditions. This point was importantly treated in the working process by trying the effects that the colors are seen slightly different according to the light and angles. The material was given the effect that its surface colors are seen different in lights and angles because of the wrinkles protruded lumpy-bumpy. The various stones of red and blue tones are very similar to the skin tones of the real chameleon, and their gradation makes the effect that the colors are visibly changed with each move. The textures of the chameleon were produced via the wrinkle effect of smoke-shape, which is the result of using the elastic threads on the basic mediums stitched with 50/50 chiffon and polyester along with velvet dot patterns. The stretching fabric by the impact of the elastic threads is as much suitable for making the body-conscious line. The stones are composed of acrylic cabochon and gemstone. They are symbolically expressed the lumpy and bumpy back skin of the chameleon and produced the effect of the colors visibly different. The primary technique used in this dress is the draping utilizing the biased grains. The front body piece is connected to the hood and joined to the back piece without any seam. For the irregular hemline flares, leaving the several rectangular pieces with bias grains, they were connected by interlocking. What defines the clothes is the person in action. Therefore, what decides the completeness of clothes might be its comfortable and enjoyable feeling by living and acting people. The chameleon dress could also reach its goal of comforting and pleasing Wearable Art in the process of studying the techniques and effects that visibly differentiate the colors. It is considered as a main point of the Wearable Art, which is a comfortable enjoyable clothing tempered with the artistic beauty.

In order to help the preservation of the unshiu orange and pear, antimicrobial paper incorporating grapefruit seed extract and zeolite was applied to pack fruits. Unshiu orange was packed in a box (24${\times}$24${\times}$22 cm) attached with antimicrobial paper and then stored respectively at l$0^{\circ}C$. Pears were wrapped individually before storage at l$0^{\circ}C$. During the storage, weight loss, pH, total acidity, soluble solid content, microbial load and decay were measured as quality indices. Steady pH increase in unshiu orange was observed to slightly decrease total acidity during the storage with little difference between the packaging treatments. The microbial loads of total aerobic bacteria, and yeast/mold counts were suppressed during storage by the antimicrobial paper packaging, which also contributed to reducing the decayed unshiu orange. Limited reduction of total aerobic bacteria and yeast/mold counts was observed only for initial storage period for the pears wrapped with 9 and 12% antimicrobial agent-added papers. Antimicrobial paper was useful for the reduction of microbial load in unshiu orange and pear without other quality deterioration.
Whole and stem-off cherry tomatoes were packaged using perforated films(LF05, LF10, LF20, and LF40). Gas composition(ethylene, $O_2$, and $CO_2$), firmness(compression and penetration force), color, brix degree, acidity, and total microbial counts were assessed during storage at $10^{\circ}C$ and 85% relative humidity. Gas composition varied with film gas permeability, indicating that modified atmospheric(MA) conditions were achieved. Firmness fell during storage; samples packed using LF05 showed the lowest firmness, corresponding to low gas transmission conditions. L(lightness) and a(redness) values respectively decreased and rose slightly with increasing storage time, but the b(yellowness) values fell notably. Film permeability significantly affected acidity and soluble solid levels. When LF40 packaging was used, acidity and brix scale changes were similar to those seen after PET container packaging. Total microbial counts increased with time after packaging in most films, and pretreatment differences were not significant. Microflora varied between stem on/off tomatoes. Skin wrinkling and juice appearance were common in tomatoes stored in PET containers and LF films of low gas permeabilities(LF05, LF10, and LF20). White molds were partially found on stem-on tomatoes stored using packaging systems. When film packagings were compared, LF40 was optimal, permitting minimal pretreatment yet offering maximal sanitation.
Present study aims to investigate the topical distribution of pupal stage specific cuticle protein and its temporal and spatial role during the wing formation of Artogeia rapae. ArCP27(27 kd cuticle protein) was identified as pupal stage specific cuticle protein in cuticle tissues and has not shown any qualitative differences by local portions of body. ArCP27 maintained constant concentration just after pupal ecdysis to 5-day old pupal stage but thereafter decreased. In fat body, ArCP27 was found in both thoracic and abdominal fat body from the last larval to pupal stage. In wing cuticle, ArCP27 began to find from 5-day old pupal stage. Immunologically ArCP27 in thoracic and abdominal cuticle has the response against the ArCP27 at 5-day old pupa but since then has no response. But the antibody against ArCP27 has reacted to 5- and 7-day old pupal and adult wing protein. $^3H-leucine$ was not incorporated into ArCP27 in 5- and 7-day old thoracic and abdominal cuticle but was incorporated into ArCP27 in 7-day old wing cuticle and adult wing, suggesting that ArCP27 partly participates the wing cuticle formation by the process of digestion and reabsorption of old cuticle.

This study was performed to investigate the wound healing effect of skin regeneration cosmetics utilizing low molecular weight Polydeoxynucleotide (PDRN). High purity PDRN was prepared from salmon testes poly-deoxy-ribonucleotide through protein and toxin removal process and molecular weight reduction. In order to evaluate the wound healing effect of PDRN in SD rats, 4 sites of dorsal skin of each animal were excised by using biopsy punch and $500{\mu}L$ of test solution was topically applied once daily for 4 weeks. The tissue changes were observed for every week during the application periods. After applying the PDRN to the wound, the skin was cut flower and contraction of the wounds more quickly, and the coating of PDRN in the wound area was reduced significantly as compared to the positive control group $Fucidin^{(R)}$ applied. The microscopic observation of stained tissue showed that a positive control was most rapid in re-epithelialization ability followed by the PH group, PDRN group, HA group. In addition, transforming growth factor ($TGF-{\beta}$) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), such as in the growth factor was similar to the results of staining of tissue lesions. In conclusion, it is determined that the low molecular weight PDRN has the therapeutic effect to the wound, and could be used as a functional material of cosmetics and medical industries.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the practical application potential and limitations of the modified fly ash(MFA) by vibration grinding as a partial replacement of ordinary portland cement(OPC). The test parameters investigated were the replacement level of fly ash(FA) and FA for OPC, varying from 10% to 40%, and curing temperatures of 5, 20, and 40℃. The various characteristics(including slump, air content, bleeding, setting time, compressive strength development, and hydration products) of MFA concrete were measured and then compared with those of the concrete with conventional FA. Test resul ts showed that the MFA prefers to FA in reducing the bl eeding of fresh concrete and enhancing the compressive strength gain at an early age. The compressive strength ratios between MFA and FA concrete specimens at an age of 1 day were 135%, 146%, and 111% at the curing temperatures of 5, 20, and 40℃, respectively. The corresponding ratios at an age of 28 days were approximately 110%, regardless of the curing temperatures. The X-ray diffraction analysis also revealed less calcium hydroxide products in MFA pastes than in FA pastes.
In this study, the safety of commercial herbal medicines was evaluated by determining concentration of hazardous heavy metals. 3,152 samples (244 types) purchased by individual packing unit from market in Seoul, were analyzed using ICP-MS and mercury analyzer. As a result, the content (mg $kg^{-1}$) of Pb was higher in the above-ground part (0.92) than underground part (0.43). But in case of As and Cd contents, there is slightly higher in the underground-parts (0.26, 0.13) than the above-ground parts (0.18, 0.08). There were many herbal medicines exceeding regulatory limits of Cd comparing with other metals. The levels of Hg seemed to be different between above-ground part(0.009) and underground part (0.008) but there was no sample exceeding tolerance limits. In the comparison of imported samples with domestic herbal medicines, it was shown that Pb, As, and Hg were measured highly in the imported ones, Cd was not significantly different (t-test, p<0.05). The significant correlation was observed between Pb and As (r=0.386, p<0.01) but there was no difference in other parts. The heavy metal contamination of herbal medicines measured in total amount of respective heavy metals (mg $kg^{-1}$) was high in Flos (6.241) and Caulis (2.238), and decreased in the order of Cortex (1.634), Herba (1.154), Perithecium (0.861), Rhizoma (0.828), Radix (0.825), Fructus (0.475), and was low in Semen (0.422) (ANOVA-test, p<0.05).
