The purpose of this study is to propose the direction of developing a new information portal for the disabled by examining the general characteristics, services, resources, and external links of five domestic and foreign information portals for the disabled, and 104 websites of organizations and institutions for the disabled in Korea. Information portals for the disabled examined in this study include the 'Bokjiro' portal and Dibrary Disability portal in Korea, the NARIC portal in the U.S.A., the National Accessibility Portal of the Republic of South Africa, and the National Interactive Portal of India. The following were proposed: (1) Consider both the disabled and the general public as potential users, (2) Identify the specific subject categories appropriate for their needs, (3) Secure information from high quality information sources, (4) Provide the communication and participation channel for the disabled, and (5) Observe Web Accessibility Standards.

Internet portal is an entryway, the first page encountered before the user entered target sites. Despite tremendous interest in the proliferation of internet portals, there is little, if any, research that demonstrates developmental process of internet portals. This developmental process is important to the generation of critical mass for e-business. The objective of this research is to discuss the process and evolution of internet portals via qualitative research. In doing so, we present $2{\times}2$ matrix as determinant with analyzing how it impacts developmental process of internet portals and perform case study to demonstrate them. The result shows that First, all internet portals are have tried to link 4C and commercialization through developmental process. Second, community service is one of the most important ways to realize commercialization in electronic market.

While the competition among many portal sites has been very serious in the Internet, very little research has been conducted on the perceptions of the users visiting those sites. To investigate how differently the Internet users perceive each of the portal sites, we attempted to analyze the similarities of five popular portal sites (Daum, Naver, Google, Nate, and MSN). By measuring the conceptual distances among the portal sites using Multi-Dimensional Scaling, this study was intended to understand the positions of the sites relative to those of other sites. The results of this study is expected to contribute to our understanding of competitive contexts among the portal sites.

This study aims to perform an evaluation of the book services and academic information services provided by the major search portals of Korea and the United States. This study also investigates the relationships between search portals and academic libraries. The results of this study can be implemented for the development and improvement of the portals' book and academic information services. Users can refer to the results of this study in choosing services from search portals. The results of this study can also provide implications for the differentiation of academic library services.

Recently, as the range of users utilizing open data has expanded from experts to students, and general citizens, the role of open data portals has changed. In the past, portals have neglected to increase data utilization through citizen participation by focusing on the role of simple data repository, but now they tend to focus on understanding, collaboration and sharing values so that users can actively use data. To meet these social trends, open data portals need to seek ways to improve user-centered services that can encourage citizen participation. The purpose of this study is to identify the main functions for citizen participation in open data portals, to analyze the current status of open data portal user services and to suggest ways to improve them. Through the literature research, we investigated the functions provided by portal services for citizen participation, deduced the types of user services, and analyzed open data portal user services. Furthermore, we suggested user-centered public data portal services improvement plans for citizen participation.

The representative example of the business model on internet environment, the business of the Naver, Empas and Google which provides information retrieval service is the internet portal. The portal sites provide information retrieval service which provides users information what they want to find, that is a huge social contribution. The portal site which provides a search service leads much problems. Consequently, the regulation against information retrieval is asserted powerfully in spite of the public interest. Namely, the regulation regarding the search business owner is tried. Finally, portal business owner puts the social responsibility as OSP. But, there is a doubt that portal business owner who has much problem which occurred on the portal site indirectly has responsibility directly. That is duty on portal site owner the censorship on the contents transferred. So, this thesis researches on the social critical opinion relating with a information retrieval from the legal side against the problem of the Internet.

현재 새로운 형태의 방송 통신 융합 서비스라 할 수 있는 TV 포털 서비스의 전개가 시작되고 있다. TV 포털 서비스는 인터넷 포털 및 디지털 방송을 사용자에게 보다 편리한 인터페이스를 통해 거실의 TV에서 제공하는 서비스이며, 고화질 미디어, 양방향 데이터, 게임, 교육 등의 서비스를 제공하므로 멀티미디어 저작, 전자상거래, 가전, 콘텐츠 공급자 등의 다양한 산업 분야에 새로운 시장을 형성할 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 전망된다. 본 동향분석에서는 이의 개념 및 현황을 조사 분석한 내용을 기술하였다.

향후 무선인터넷 망이 완전히 개방되면 다양한 포털, 컨텐츠 사업자가 등장할 것이다. 이는 사용자에게는 다양한 서비스를 받을 수 있는 장점이 있지만 현재 휴대폰에서의 모바일 인터넷 컨텐츠 탐색 시 발생하는 사용성 문자를 한층 더 증대 시킬 것으로 예상된다. 기존의 연구들은 단일 포털 업체만을 대상으로 연구를 하였기 때문에 여러 포털 업체에서 제공하고 있는 컨텐츠들을 적절히 탐색할 수 있는 기법에 대해서는 아직 연구가 부족하다. 본 논문에서는 시멘틱 웹 구현 기법 중 하나인 토픽맵을 이용하여 효율적으로 모바일 인터넷 컨텐츠를 탐색하고 관리할 수 있는 기법을 제안한다.

휴대인터넷의 보급에 따라 모바일 컨텐츠 시장의 주류로 부상하는 PDA/스마트 폰 기반의 게임 포털 서비스 가능성을 타진한다. PDA/스마트폰은 PC보다는 제한적인 CPU파워와 메모리크기 때문에 PC와 대등한 수준의 컨텐츠 제공이 어렵다고 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 게임 포털에서 꼭 필요한 각종 기능들을 PDA상에서 구현하고 테스트 한 결과를 제시함으로써 현재의 휴대인터넷과 PDA/스마트 폰 성능으로도 충분히 높은 완성도의 모바일 게임 포털 구현이 가능함을 보인다.
