The Impact of Managerial Response to Negative Customer Reviews on the Success of Accommodation Services: Evidence from Online Accommodation Reservation Platforms (부정적 리뷰의 대응 전략이 숙박시설 성공에 미치는 영향: 숙박 중개 플랫폼 사례)

  • This research investigates how a service provider's response(s) to negative customer reviews influences the success of accommodation services in the context of online accommodation reservation platforms. Specifically, we attempt to comprehend the important role of attentive and instant responses to users' negative review comments in fostering future success by analyzing panel data on 856 motels registered in the largest accommodation reservation platform in Korea. The results present that response volume (Attentiveness) and faster responses (Timeliness) are positively associated with success. We further find that the two review-response strategies have a positive interaction effect on success. Moreover, we show that the effect of review responses is strengthened when the reputation of motels drops. The key findings of this research offer a set of practical guidelines for accommodation owners to achieve business success by effectively managing customer reviews and claims

p-Version Finite Element Model of Stiffened Plates by Hierarchic $C^0$-Element (계층적 $C^0$ - 요소에 의한 보강판의 p-Version 유한요소 모델)

  • A general stiffener element which includes transverse shear deformation is formulated using the p-version finite element method. Hierarchic C/sup o/-shape functions, derived from Integrals of Legendre polynomials, are used to define the assembled stiffness matrix of the stiffener with respect to the local reference frame is transformed to the plate reference system by applying the appropriate transformation matrices in order to insure compatibility of displacements at the junction of the stiffener and plate. The transformation matrices which account for the orientation and the eccentricity effects of the stiffener with respect to the plate reference axes are used to find local behavior at the junction of the stiffener and the relative contributions of the plate and stiffener to the strength of the composite system. The results obtained by the p-version finite element method are comared with the results in literatures, especially those by the h-version finite element analysis program, MICROFEAP-II.

  • This paper is concerned with $H_2$ control design for active vibration control of a plate vibration system. We construct a plate vibration system with a plate, PZT ceramics actuators and sensors. The plate titration system is MIMO system and its transfer matrix is obtained by system identification experiments. We design a $H_2$ controller using the state space model obtained from system identification. Effectiveness and performance of the designed controller are verified by both simulation and experiment results.

  • In this paper, we studied a flat fluorescent lamp with high luminance for LCD backlighting. The lamps have simple structures with ITO glass, insulator layer, phosphor layer, electrode layer and gas gap. The firing voltage was decreased with increasing the frequency. It was considered that this tendency was resulted from the space charge effect due to Xe and Ar positive ions trapped in gas gap. Decrease of uniform voltage at higher drive frequency is due to the remaining space charges which are produced by preceding period. As a result, luminance of 2700[cd/m$^2$] and maximum luminous efficiency of 51[m/W] were obtained with luminance uniformity of 96[%] in operation(700[V$\_$rms/], 80[kHz].

  • This paper proposes a prediction reputation system for the anti-SPIT solution in real-time VoIP environment. The existing schemes need to get the user's feedback and/or have experienced the time delay and overload as session initiates due to real-time operation. To solve these problems, the proposed scheme predicts the reputation through the statistical analysis based on the period of session initiation of each caller and the call duration of each receiver. As per the second mentioned problem, this scheme performs the prediction before session initiation, therefore, it's proper for real-time VoIP environment.

  • We have developed a composite grid method for the solution of the radiation problem We divide the domain into two different grids; one is a moving grid system and the other is a fixed grid system. This numerical method is applied to calculation of the radiation forces generated by the submerged plate oscillating near a free surface. The experimental data are compared with the numerical ones obtained by the present method and a linear potential theory. As a result, we can confirm the accuracy of the present method. Finally, Lie have evaluated the effect of nonlinear and viscous damping on the hydrodynamic forces acting on the submerged plate.

  • This paper is concerned with formulations of the hierarchical $C^{\circ}$-plate element on the basis of Reissner-Mindlin plate theory. On reason for the development of the aforementioned element based on Integrals of Legendre shape functions is that it is still difficult to construct elements based on h-version concepts which are accurate and stable against the shear locking effects. An adaptive mesh refinement and selective p-distribution of the polynomial degree using hp-version of the finite element method are proposed to verify the superior convergence and algorithmic efficiency with the help of the simply supported L-shaped plate problems.

Restoring the Role of Credit Rating Agencies as Gatekeepers (신용평가기능 개선을 위한 과제)

  • Credit rating agencies(CRAs) are accused of failing to provide accurate and fair credit ratings and hence being responsible for the crisis. This paper tries to add on to the literature on credit rating reform through examining the CRAs in a model where rating quality is unobservable. We show that unobservability of rating effort results in the sub-optimal level of quality. Then the paper extends the model to incorporate ancillary services, competition and reputation. We show that ancillary services worsen the conflict of interests of the CRAs and that competition and reputation may not be strong enough to discipline the CRAs. Hence regulatory oversight and imposition of liability may be necessary in order to increase the accuracy of ratings.

  • This paper reconstructs the concept of technological systems(TSs), which was first introduced by Carlsson and Stankiewicz(1991), and applies the concept to printing technology in Korea, We examine the dynamic process of the technological system of printing technology, co-evolving with biotechnology(BT), information technology(IT), environmental technology(ET), and nano technology (NT), We found that the technology-focused science and innovation policy can reinforce other existing policy tools such as national innovation system(NIS), regional innovation system(RIS), and industrial cluster more effectively.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present the aperture cut-off filter for reduction of electromagnetic field penetration through a slot in conducting screen. The reduction characteristics of electric field penetration by the aperture cut-off filter are considered. In order to establish the concept of the aperture cut-off filter, the integral equation on the slot aperture field distribution is derived and solved by method of moments, and the reduction characteristics of penetration electric fields for the incident plane wave are calculated. The numerical results showed that the aperture cut-off filter for reduction of electric field penetration through the slot can be realized. To check the validity of the concept of an aperture cut-off filter and the theoretical analysis, the calculated electric field penetration of the metallic wall with narrow slot were compared with the experimental results.
